I agree with Max. Our founding fathers took great pains to select the precise words used in our Consitiution. This document is a blueprint for how our country is meant to function and this blueprint does not change with the whims of man. That is why our country has survived and prospered for over 200 years. There are means to make changes to the Constitution, but these changes require certain steps - as outlined in the Constitution - and these changes can only be made with the approval and support of a large majority of the American people. Changes cannot be made by the President or the Supreme Court - ONLY by "We the people".

We need people now to stand up and demand an end to the trampling of our Constitution. I am looking for ONE HONORABLE ELECTED LEADER, who will stand up for the people and the Constitution. Just ONE!

I read his pdf Mary.
Sounds like a decent man, but I disagree with his assessment of The Constitution being a 'living document'.

The Constitution is what it is, period! Occasionally the people see fit to alter it with amendments but it is not 'alive'. The purpose of the document is not to react or flow with the whims of society, it was created as a road map for obtaining and preserving FREEDOM!

Leave The Constitution alone!

Hi Molon Labe,
Welcome to our group. 12 yrs ago, i moved to Fl from Mass, so, you are in for quite a culture shock when you move from LA to Brevard County. But, ya know, with Fl being such a sanctuary state, as well, perhaps, it will all be the same. Anyway, welcome, and, we all look forward to your input.

Good for you,Mary!!!! Speak out!!!! Use that 1st amendment right, or, they will take it from you!!!!
As for Fl,and, the gun thing. We have quite a problem, and, many of you are not aware.
My husband and I went to buy a gun, smaller version , for me. Florida Gun Exchange in Port Orange. Darn gun was gonna cost us $600.00, but, was worth it for protection.
Now, my hubby has a Fl right to carry license, and, they refused to sell him that gun. said something about a straw purchase, but, I think the clerk was an obot with a gun,is all. We wrote to Crist and everyone else we could find in our gov., all to NO avail. We had our 2nd amendment taken from us,and, had no support from this state gov.
So, you go girl, you go get them. Every person that sits, calling themselves a politician, will, in 2010,find out just how fed up WE all are!!!

Thanks, Lynda. I signed the petition for Florida state sovereignty. I had a message from my State representative today and we are trying to talk him into supporting the actions of Montana, Texas and Utah with the
manufacturing of firearms, by encouraging the manufacture and sale of firearms in Florida. Each state must take the step to defy the federal government and function according to the Constitution. Our Representative wants the NRA of Florida to wait until the courts rule on what Montana and Texas are doing, but we can't wait for the courts - they don't uphold the Constitution and I don't trust them. Just like the petition, all the states need to work together to take back the power that belongs to the states - NOT to the federal government!

I am going to a local rally tomorrow and I made my sign today. One side says "Fight for State's Rights" and the other side says "Stop BIG Goverment & BIG Spending". We are having a salute to President Ronald Reagan and a Rally and hopefully, we will have a lot of people turn out.

- James Madison

"Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."
- Thomas Jefferson

"It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government."
- Thomas Paine

"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."
- Thomas Jefferson

"In free governments the rulers are the servants and the people their superiors and sovereigns."
- Benjamin Franklin

"Liberty cannot be preserved without a general knowledge among the people, who have...a right, an indisputable, unalienable, indefeasible, divine right to that most dreaded and envied kind of knowledge, I mean the character and conduct of their rulers."
- John Adams

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
- Benjamin Franklin

"The fabric of American empire ought to rest on the solid basis of the consent of the people. The streams of national power ought
to flow from that pure, original fountain of all legitimate
authority."

- Alexander Hamilton

"The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us from the support of a cause we believe to be just."
- Abraham Lincoln

“If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”
- James Madison

"When once a republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil."
- Thomas Jefferson

"It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people's minds."
- Samuel Adams

“Truth is the only safe ground to stand upon.”
- Thomas Paine

“Facts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclination, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.”
- John Adams

“Let justice be done though the heavens should fall.”
- John Adams

“Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.”

“The public cannot be too curious concerning the characters of public men.”
- Samuel Adams

“To prevent crimes, is the noblest end and aim of criminal jurisprudence. To punish them, is one of the means necessary for the accomplishment of this noble end and aim.”
- James Wilson

“It is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth — and listen to the song of that siren, till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those, who having eyes, see not, and having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it might cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.”
- Patrick Henry

"That government is best - which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves. The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."
- Thomas Jefferson
