Even though this commentary doesn't discuss guns, it gives a peek at the mindset of gun control advocates. Let me know what you think.

Well, Well well...

Now students are running things, and poorly at that. What about a letter from this group - signed by all - that reads the riot act to these students, reminds them that there actually is a Second Amendment, and makes it very clear that we the people support this marine?

Judicial Affairs? Hardly. What gives them the right to trump current law? Perhaps they can study more, become lawyers, run for office, and eventually be made judges on one court or another. Then they can play their silly games legally, and with just the right amount of Leftist input to continue to destroy all rights not just those embodies in the Second Amendment.

Changing the subject: Why are there so few Gun Control/Second Amendment supporters on this We the People site, and just a few less than 1000 on Resistnet? What are we not doing here that needs to be done. I firmly believe that while it may be the Second Amendment today, it will be other rights removed tomorrow. We need to see why this is the care. Ideas?

"Sentence" for Oregon Marine Vet and Gun Owner: Get Your Head Examined

The big brains at Western Oregon University have demanded that a former Marine and current conceal carry permit holder get a psych exam before he's allowed to carry his weapon on campus (which is allowed under Oregon law).
This is what the students on the Judicial Affairs Hearing committee decided after Jeffrey Maxwell was ARRESTED for LEGALLY carrying a gun on campus:

1) Suspension from Weestern Oregon University until the end of spring term 2009.
2) Satisfactory written evidence from a licensed mental health professional that you do not pose a threat to yourself or others
3) A minimum TEN PAGE PAPER with references, citing, but not limited to:

* the importance of following the law, even through civil disobedience
* the importance of accepting responsiblity for one's actions
* and recognizing the impact possession of weapons on college campuses has on others

Imagine if you could do that with some people so they could keep their FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS.

Smart

We need to organize and coordinate with NRA and GOA to stop any and all attacks on the Second Amendment.

I believe that gun control is just one leg of a many legged stool vis-a-vis fighting the Obama machine. I repeat myself: We need to out-Alinsky Alinsky. He - Alinsky - had no internet access, nor did he have groups like We the People or Resistnet to counter his methods. We must get all the state chapters involved, and we must set an agenda that is precise, targeted and focused. As far as I can tell we are all troubled and angry at what is happening to our country. We have been betrayed, and still are being betrayed. We need better strategies and far better tactics if we are to survive.

I had a lengthy conversation with Katrina, a legislative analyst for the NRA this morning. The Blair Holt Firearm and Record Sale Act of 2009 Bill - HR 45 - is currently before the House Judiciary Committee, and has not yet been heard. It has no co-sponsors. They - the NRA - welcome our assistance and support. Katrina suggested that we log onto the House Judiciary Committee site and then contact each member of the committee to voice our opposition to this very onerous Bill. She also added that each person who opposes this bill needs to contact their state reps in the Congress.

She suggested we read the NRA take on this. Here is a part of the article that addresses this Bill, and the link to it.

U.S. Representative Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) recently sponsored H.R. 45, also known as "Blair Holt Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act." The bill is, at its core and as its name implies, a licensing and registration scheme...H.R. 45 is essentially a reintroduction of H.R. 2666, which Rush introduced in 2007. H.R. 2666 contained much of the same language as H.R. 45, and was co-sponsored by several well-known anti-gun legislators--including Barack Obama's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel. H.R. 45 currently has no co-sponsors.

Rest assured that NRA-ILA will continue to monitor this bill closely, and will keep you informed of any developments if they materialize.

I suggest that the letter posted for use opposing this Bill be sent to each house Judiciary member, as well as to each person's representative.

Additionally, I suggest we coordinate with as many other sites that we can, that also oppose this Bill. Why? We can schedule a specific day or week to flood each Judiciary member's email, US mail, telephone lines etc on that day, and keep it up until they put up the white flag.

We can do this. It is not costly, other than in a bit of time. We can win and let them know that whenever they do this sort of things, they will hear from thousands, or hopefully millions of us, as well as from richly funded groups like the NRA.
