Donald Trump Officially Joins Ross Perot's Reform Party. The Now Tea Party Beginning

Ross Perot's Reform Party Is The Beginning Roots Of The Now "Tea Party" that supports the same exact stances on issues. The U.S. Citizens that were apart of Ross Perot's 1990's Reform Party are the exact same people that pulled together in 2008 to create the "Tea Party" of now without the 3rd party splitting of the vote that created so many losses for the Reform Party. The only difference is the Reform Party is 3rd party and the Tea Party is republican base fighting within the republican party against rinos and democrats. The libertarian party had absolutely nothing to do with the formation and growth of the now "Tea Party".

Donald Trump was at and apart of the beginning roots of what became the now "Tea Party".

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Real estate developer Donald Trump officially changed his party affiliation on Monday to the Independence Party, New York's version of the Reform Party.

Trump had his voter registration form hand-delivered to the

New York County Board of Elections on Monday, officially putting him in the New York branch of the Reform Party, according to his political adviser Roger Stone.

Stone told CNN that Trump will soon begin travelling to Miami, Los Angeles and other cities to meet with Reform Party leaders to assess the prospects of winning the party's presidential nomination.

Trump has not yet formally declared he would seek the Reform Party nomination, but he announced Sunday he was quitting the Republican Party, a key step in a possible bid for the Reform Party nomination for the 2000 presidential race.

Trump told NBC's "Meet the Press" that he would use his experience as a casino and real estate developer to successfully run the United States.

"I understand this stuff," Trump said. "I understand good times and I understand bad times. I mean, why is a politician going to do a better job than I am?"

Trump, who has said talk show host Oprah Winfrey would be an ideal running mate, said he will make a decision by March after gauging support.

Another presidential hopeful, Pat Buchanan, held a news conference Monday to announce he has left the Republican Party to join the Reform Party and seek its presidential nomination.

In 2000, Trump briefly sought the nomination of the Reform Party, campaigning against eventual nominee Pat Buchanan. He appeared on the presidential primary ballot in a few states, including winning in California and Michigan. On February 14, 2000 he dropped out of the race, and then formally left the Reform Party in 2001. During that campaign, he took some positions that might place him at odds with today’s GOP primary voters, most notably calling for a substantial one-time wealth tax on the rich to pay off the national debt.

Trump has also publicly explored running in 1988, 2004, 2008, and 2012, variously as an independent or Republican candidate.

Hat In Ring speculation note: This is very true. Ross Perot's Reform Party has always supported all of the now Tea Party stances on issues. Trump did make a partial run for president in 2000 until Ross Perot endorsed Pat Buchannan as the Reform Party's nominee. After that bad endorsement Trump dropped out of the race. Ross Perot eventually ended up dropping the 3rd party thing and transferred his endorsement to Bush. Most likely the republican party got on Perot's arse and pressured him to stop "Splitting The Vote".
