The GOP is moving behind Trump

The establishment has had a recent change of heart about Trump deciding they can manipulate him more then Cruz to keep there goals alive. In a recent interview one staffer commented that Cruz would destroy the party because he would work to replace establishment republicans with conservatives in coming elections if he where elected.

It is there position that Trump would make deals with the establishment and this would be far superior to Cruz who would likely draw a harder line and solicit the help of the people to pass legislation the establishment wants nothing to do with.

William F. Buckley started the National Review to advance conservative values it is neither a tea party publication or an establishment publication. It values tend to run to the heart of the core conservatives often leaving social issues on the sidelines. They came out and blasted Trump and what did the GOP do? They band them from the debates with in hours.

With the establishment moving behind Trump and fearful of Cruz it tells us who the real conservative in the race is. Cruz is not perfect but he is clearly the best we have in the race today for true conservatives.

GOP establishment warms to Trump — and remains cool toward Cruz

The Republican establishment — once seen as the force that would destroy Donald Trump’s outsider candidacy — is now learning to live with it, with some elected and unelected leaders saying they see an upside to Trump as the nominee.

In the past few days, Trump has received unlikely public praise from GOP luminaries who said they would prefer him to his main rival, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

In private, some veteran conservative Republicans have been reaching out to Trump. And Trump himself called the ultimate establishment figure in Washington, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, for a talk late last year.

“If it came down to Trump or Cruz, there is no question I’d vote for Trump,” said former New York mayor and 2008 presidential candidate Rudolph W. Giuliani, who has not endorsed a candidate. “As a party, we’d have a better chance of winning with him, and I think a lot of Republicans look at it that way.”

This warming toward Trump comes after establishment favorites such as Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and former Florida governor Jeb Bush have failed to reach the top tier. It signals that, among the party’s entrenched elites, there is a growing fear that none of those candidates may be able to beat both Trump and Cruz.

Many have decided that Trump — for all his faults — is better. For one thing, many Republicans in Congress especially despise Cruz, who has a history of picking long-shot fights and blaming other Republicans when he is unsuccessful.

Beyond that personal hostility, there’s a political calculation. If Cruz is nominated, they say, he could alienate swing voters with his brand of scorched-earth conservatism. If he’s elected, they fear, Cruz would shut Republican moderates out of power.

Just read an article about Trump - that he would go for Government Funded Health care for all. NO, I say. That makes me wonder about the rest of his ideas.

He has led us down the garden path Charles....Cruz is our real hope for America to be restored...He is deal making with the establishment...They know that Cruz will  not do as he is told...the establishment fears Cruz..Trump is wanting to make his sister a SC justice..she is very...Liberal to the core and just as Liberal democrats do when they win office...He will say of his promises...He spoke  with men who are very knowledgeable  and THEY SAID IT WOULD NOT BE WISE TO DO THAT... Whatever the promise is...Peop;e are drinking Trumps' KOOLAIDE...HE IS NOT AUTHENITIC AS CRUZ IS...

We have come to this truth. Who can win the general election? at least 5 swing states have to be won, how will Ted do that?

JMHO

Lord willing with God's help Charles...The South has  banded together with Texas to have more clout in the primaries and THEY ALL LOVE CRUZ.... This has not been done before...Usually Iowa and New Hampshires  settle the  nomnee themselves...Iowa is Catholic and democrat land..that is why we call them the IOWA IDIOTS.. and the godless heathen New Hampshire  morons... Charles..You are one of my dearest friends and I hate to come against you on this ..but our nation is at stake and I must fight for her...DV and I  have uncovered enough that we know Trump is not going to govern as anything other than a liberal even in the matter of SC appointees...We must fight to defeat him...You know that the democrats are not an option...so if he is the nominee..I would have to vote for him..no one is as evil as the dems are...

Dwindling Evangelicals will affect 2014 (and future) elections in Southern States

Robert P. Jones writes for The Atlantic, Oct. 17, 2014:

Over the last few decades, there have been few more reliable voters for Republicans than white evangelical Protestants. This year, however, GOP candidates may be getting less help from this group—not because white evangelical Protestants are becoming less supportive or less motivated, but simply because they are declining as a proportion of the population, even in Southern states.

Three reasons evangelicals can’t save the Republican establishment from Donald Trump

Republicans have a major problem. There is growing fear that Donald Trump may be more than an entertaining side-show. He might just become the nominee, which is widely viewed as a catastrophe for the GOP.

Harry Enten of Five Thirty Eight has suggested that the so-called Republican establishment may need to be rescued by conservative Christian voters.

“The GOP establishment doesn’t need to win Iowa — it just needs Trump to lose,” Enten wrote. “And the establishment may have to rely on an old frenemy to make that happen: born-again and evangelical Christians.”

Evangelicals may be an old “frenemy,” but they will likely not rescue the Republican establishment. In the old days of the 1980s and 1990s, evangelicals (then known as the Religious Right) were the ground troops for the GOP. They were what labor unions were to the Democrats: a loyal grassroots movement that were needed during the election but often ignored once the votes were counted.

In a speech last night in Las Vegas, Trump told the crowd that you have to be a little establishment in order to get things done in Washington. He said you can’t...
