SOURCE: John Bolton CLOSE to being named Secretary of State!

It’s being reported now that John Bolton is close to being named as Secretary of State in the new Trump administration:

I really hope this is true and Bolton gets this role. I can’t think of anyone more thoughtful about State and Foreign affairs than Bolton. I have no doubt that he will do an epic job including a thorough cleaning up of the State Department, which is badly needed!

Finally something i agree with you on.

charles I am confused..I didnt say anything, I just posted a story so we can keep updated on who trump is putting in his admin,

while bolten is a very good choice it has not been determined.

as for finaly agreeing with me,

do you not think we should have a constitutionally limited government free from federal dictates that are not within the limits of the Constitution??

cause thats what I have been saying

BREAKING! AP says Rudy Giuliani is Trump’s FAVORITE for Secretary of State position!!

The Associated Press says it has a source that confirms Rudy Giuliani is the favorite for Secretary of State in Trump’s administration:

Earlier we reported on another rumor that Former Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton and his mustache was close being named for the same position. Personally, I’d prefer Bolton, but the left and the media have been in complete meltdown since that announcement. Rudy just seems a little unhinged during his appearances for the campaign, but I dunno, it seems like Trump prefers that kind of personality…

JV,

Since politics is supposed to be the art of compromise with the best interests of the USA in mind, even though the last four Presidents agendas and also most of the Congresses agendas since JFK's have ignored that fact. I see what Trump is doing, and mind you I may be wrong but hope I'm not, is creating an ACCEPTABLE COMPROMISE with the Republican Establishment Leadership with a few sweet sops for the Democrats thrown in, so Congress does not outright reject him and make his Presidency a Lame Duck from the first day. Remember when Jimmy Carter went to washington and made a statement that he was going to clean up? It was a predominant Liberal Democrat Congress that made his presidency a joke. I think Trump knows that and will mend fences as far as he can without betraying his agenda objectives. Objectives he may have tremendously overstated so he could do a "Compromise" that is acceptable to main stream America on them from Congress.

M

you make several good points that I both agree and disagree and would like to comment but its clear that kevin wants to get rid of me forr some reason and is waiting to do just that ,

I think its not fair but who am I to say .

JV. I will not get rid of you unless you go crazy. Or just antagonize everyone. Jack has never and I mean never agreed with anyone....ever. He says things that are false. He never backs up his statements and questions everyone. He rarely reads other posts. He is a planted troll. But we all know that . So we keep him around as the site stooge. Now you come her talking like your gonna just run everyone over. You have zero respect. It is easy to see. I am very tolerant actually. But I do not do PC. So if you feel you have been dealt with a little ruff by me..Stop the crying. I will not toss you . But I will rip on you when you rip on others. If you bully ,then expect to get bulllied. No one here needs me to stick up for them. The men at this site are men. No children here.. Now if you want to post then post away. But don`t even start pissin and moanin.

sounds like you want a safe space where everyone agrees with you

Machiavelli asked; "Is it better the leader (whether Potus, Sec'y of State, Chair of Joint Chiefs and so on) be loved or feared?"

IMO, Trump needs hard men around him who understand that.

Little interest in Bolton, too much the dilettante perpetually preening and strutting for the camera.

Do we want a Sec'y of State w/a firm handshake or one who has firm resolve in dealing w/the thugs of the world?

Machiavellianism is "the employment of cunning and duplicity in statecraft or in general conduct".[1] The word comes from the Italian Renaissance diplomat and writer Niccolò Machiavelli, born in 1469, who wrote Il Principe (The Prince), among other works.

In modern psychology, Machiavellianism is one of the dark triad personalities, characterized by a duplicitous interpersonal style, a cynical disregard for morality and a focus on self-interest and personal gain.[2]

if this is what youtr saying we need, then I am gonna have to pass on it.

history is riddled with examples of why a strongman with a gun is the wrong way to lead a country.

death is the only result as hilary has proven

truth is I know nothing really about boltens record, but he is spoken highly of,

now as for guliani, hes a known progressive and that we dont need

The Prince is difficult to read or understand simply due to the contradictions.

The real question must be is it better to be loved or hated since hate always follows the heavy handed ruler closely.

First off it is of a sort a guide to dictators in a time where even so called republics were not more than family oligarchies. The governments always fell of course no matter if Nic's words were heeded or not because that is just the natural result of all governments in particular exceedingly corrupt ones.

Given that it was written in a time of men not laws (lets face it the law seldom was blind) it could have been worse but I seem to remember he was on the outs when he wrote it.

Doing the hard things is a thankless job, it is not sexy nor glamorous but to give in to evil is always the shortcut men in power seem to prefer when the hard things need doing and his warning is that there will be a price paid no matter which path is chosen. That is what I understand from the book.

Was simply expressing my opinion about Bolton. You are entitled to yours.

As for Machiavelli, this characterization is naive and sentimental malarkey from some pious type unacquainted w/human nature.

Nick was an old Roman in the mold of Cicero, who understood man for what he was.

Rome prospered and left a 1200 year legacy of achievement, we can only fantasize about, being a tad past 200 years.

As Lord Palmerston asserted at the zenith of the British Empire, 'Great Nations have neither allies nor friends, they simply have interests' ; a reality we would be wise to embrace, rather than the horse manure that has been our foreign policy since Woodrow Wilson.

Putin is not available. Anyone is better than the incumbent imo.
