Usurped Congressional Powers : An open letter to Congress

Congress,

I write to you because I am completely baffled on your stance, or better described as a lack there of a stance, to Mr. Obama's use of the United States military in Libya's civil conflict without Congressional consent. In a community of politicians constantly berating each other and squabbling for more power over one another, I am surprised to see Congress mute on the subject relating to the powers of which the people grant Congress that have been usurped by Mr. Obama by not involving Congress in his decision to go to war against Libyan forces. Instead, Mr. Obama sought the approval of foreign nations regarding the use of the United States military. Obama acted under the direction of foreign diplomats. He did not seek approval from the American people by going before Congress to get the authorization for his actions of war. Obama has failed to uphold the United States Constitution and has committed acts of treason.

Mr. Obama's continual disregard for the United States Constitution and his constant subverting of the powers granted to Congress by the people makes him a tyrannical dictator and a direct threat to the sovereignty of these United States of America. I am calling for immediate impeachment proceedings of Barack Hussein Obama.

It has become unclear exactly who you are representing. The people have grown weary of the elitism that runs rampant in Washington and your silence on this Constitutional issue is deafening. Where is your allegiance? Why do you not hold true to the oath of office that you have taken to protect the United States from enemies both foreign and domestic? Why do you sit in silence as Obama picks and chooses which parts of the United States Constitution he wants to follow?

It appears Congress persons are more concerned for self than for country. This is why our forefathers wanted "citizen legislators". They wanted the laws that those legislators created to have an impact on them personally. Now, most of you sign legislation into law without knowing what it is or what the effects of those laws will have because you don't live life like the rest of us. You don't have any idea how they impact us and don't care because you don't have to abide by the laws you've created.

And the king of the elitist court is Mr. Obama, who is acting as though he has more of an allegiance to foreign nations and organizations then to the people who he has been elected to serve, the people of the United States of America. His personal use of the United States military to appease foreign nations and help those nations secure oil for themselves while we foot the bill for the conflict is unacceptable, unconstitutional, and criminal. Mr. Obama may be the Commander in Chief, but first and foremost, he still must answer to the citizens of the United States and follow every letter of the United States Constitution. Regardless of what his reasons are or how noble they may be, Mr. Obama is not above the Constitution and neither are you. No exceptions!

It matters not to me how many other countries supported the use of our military in Libya. It is OUR military. OUR men and women in harms way. OUR money financing the weaponry. Americans deserve to be heard. We demand that we be heard. It is our fundamental right as a United States citizen to be heard and it is our duty to hold the government accountable for its actions.

Mr. Obama's Monday night (3.28.11) speech on Libya was uninformative, vague, non-binding, and open-ended. I want answers and I want you to get them for me. If you are unable to perform your duties as a public servant, your resignation will gladly be accepted. The time for cheap talk and flowery rhetoric is over. Mr. Obama has become a tyrannical dictator and you have enabled him by saying and doing nothing.

Money would be better spent ending Mr. Obama's reign by impeaching him then any more money spent in Libya or any other foreign country that poses no direct threat to the United States. The real and direct threat is in the White House and a Congress that enables the unconstitutional dictatorship of the Obama administration.

I can proudly say, I played a direct role in the "shellacking" the democrats received in the last election. Don't think for one minute the republicans are immune. This country will find her founding principles again. Party lines are no longer relevant. There are only 2 sides now.... the American patriot side or the tyrannical rulers side. On which side do you belong? Your actions will determine your fate in your next election, just as the actions of the democrats imposing their will on the people determined theirs.

May you recognize, as America's patriots have, the shadow in which United States citizens stand is not the shadow created by a government iron fist, but the shadow of the great liberty tree. Freedom pumps through our veins, fills our body, our hearts, and our minds.

We will fight to defend freedom at all costs because....we are freedom.

Sincerely,

C.G. Reno
