Elections

Super-PAC Pulls Plug On Paul’s Presidential Push

PurplePAC — one of the three super-PACs backing Rand Paul’s 2016 presidential run — announced Monday that they will no longer raise money for the senator from Kentucky, claiming that libertarian principles have totally “disappeared” from his campaign.

“I have stopped raising money for him until I see the campaign correct its problems,” Ed Crane, PurlplePAC’s overseer, told Politico. “I wasn’t going to raise money to spend on a futile crusade… I want to grab Rand by the lapels and say, ‘What are you doing? I’m a big fan of Rand Paul. But whatever motivates his campaign, I don’t get it.”

PurplePAC announced in July that it had raised $1.2 million for Paul’s campaign, and while it still has upwards of $1 million in collected donations, organizers will no longer actively seek new contributions.

Poll: Joe Biden Run Would Be ‘A Real Nightmare’ For Hillary Clinton

A new poll shows that a Joe Biden run for president could be a big problem for democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.

The Wall Street Journal poll released Tuesday shows that while Joe Biden is not likely to win the nomination, his run would take voters mostly from Clinton, allowing Bernie Sanders to possibly overtake her.

Bill McInturff, the Republican pollster who helped conduct the survey said a Biden candidacy could be “a real nightmare for the Clinton campaign,” that “could pick off votes and put states in play.”

Clinton having to spend the extra money early on would leave her with less for the general, and a messy primary will hurt her overall popularity.

The poll reports that Biden would beat Jeb Bush in a one-on-one matchup by 8 points, while Clinton is tied.

Donald Trump and Ben Carson are neck and neck in the race for the Republican nomination. But Trump does poorly in a one-on-one matchup with Clinton, whereas Carson, Bush and Carly Fiorina do better.

As a whole, the Republican party has a tougher task in gaining America’s favor. About 45 percent of Americans view the Republican party negatively and 29 percent view it favorably while 41 percent have a negative view of the Democrat party and 35 percent have a positive view.

Clinton has seen other troubling polls lately. A poll in early September showed that more than half of likely voters think Clinton probably broke the law in her private server email scandal.

Donald Trump Meets, Prays With Religious Leaders in Trump Tower
Current GOP primary frontrunner Donald Trump met with forty different religious leaders in Trump Tower on Monday to pray, and to reaffirm his support for Israel and for Christians under attack by the Left.

Pastor Darrell Scott was impressed with Trump, telling The Brody File that Trump listened attentively while nodding his head, “humbly” accepting criticisms from leaders asking him to tone down his rhetoric. “He has a very high regard and a very deep respect for men and woman of the cloth,” Scott said.

Black leaders told Trump they felt he hadn’t connected with black voters. Trump cited polls highlighting black support but ultimately agreed with them.

“I think Donald Trump changed the opinions of the African-American pastors that were in the room. They saw a side of him outside of the media depiction, and that they would give strong consideration in regards to supporting his candidacy,” Scott said.

Good to hear!

Trump Tower on Monday to pray, and to reaffirm his support for Israel and for Christians under attack by the Left.

It would be nice to have a President who supports Israel and respects Christians.

As far as I remember, every Republican president affirmed and supported Israel and cared for the Christians, here and abroad. And it seems every GOP candidate today does the same.

The only problems we had were with the recent Democrats.

I was speaking of the present president.

Carson: Blacks have 'been manipulated' by politicians, media

Getty Images

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson says traditional politicians have long maneuvered African-American voters for their own ends.

“I think American blacks over the course of next year will begin to see that they’ve been manipulated very, very largely,” he told radio host Mike Gallagher on Tuesday.

“[It is] people telling them what they’re supposed to think and what they’re supposed to say,” Carson said. “I believe that is a dynamic that is in the process of changing.”

“More and more, I’m finding, are thinking for themselves and what works for themselves and their communities,” added Carson, who is African-American.

Carson argued the political establishment’s control over any voting demographic stems largely from media bias.

“I long for the day when the media realizes that the reason that they’re the only business that is protected by the Constitution is because it is intended to be for the people,” he said.

“They weren’t supposed to pick sides, the Democratic side or the Republican side,” Carson said. “You are supposed to be able to trust them. They take advantage of low-information individuals and people who won’t investigate things for themselves.”

Partisanship is severely damaging American society and culture, the retired neurosurgeon added.

“One of the biggest things threatening our nation right now is divisiveness,” he said. “As a wise man once said, ‘A house divided against itself cannot stand.’

“We need a commander in chief that understands that and tries to promote our unity and not our divisions,” Carson added.

Carson was responding to a YouGov poll from last week that found most blacks disagree with his opposition toward the idea of a Muslim presidential candidate.

The poll found 66 percent of African-Americans say it is “unfair” to oppose a political candidate solely because they are Muslim.

After sparking backlash last week with his statements, Carson has since repeatedly argued that he was referring to any White House hopeful who puts Islam’s tenets above the Constitution.

The media is trying to manipulate everyone!

Carson is right.

Bush energy plan would boost exports, approve Keystone

Republican contender Jeb Bush on Tuesday unveiled his energy plan, which would expand oil and gas exports and approve the Keystone XL pipeline to boost the American energy sector.

The former Florida governor also vowed to end President Obama’s climate rule for power plants if he wins the presidency next year.

Bush rolled out his energy platform during a speech in Pennsylvania and in a post on his website. In the post, he said his proposals would build on the growth already seen in the booming American oil and natural gas sectors and help keep energy prices low for consumers.

“Energy is not just a sector of our economy. It is also an input into every other economic sector,” Bush wrote.

“That means cheaper, more reliable energy benefits American families in multiple ways. More domestic energy leads to more jobs, higher wages, lower gas prices and smaller electricity bills. In short, it means more money in people’s pockets, allowing them more freedom to make more choices for themselves and their children.”

Bush said he supports ending federal rules blocking crude oil and liquefied natural gas exports, something he predicted would “create hundreds of thousands of additional jobs and significantly lower net energy costs within two years.”

On Keystone, Bush said President Obama and Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton have “baldly politicized the government permitting process,” and said he supports the project. Clinton opposes Keystone and the Obama administration continues to study the pipeline.

Bush also said he would “reduce overregulation,” and highlighted the climate rule for power plants as an “attempt to impose the president’s conception of how everyone should produce and consume energy.” He said the rule needs to be “stopped in its tracks,” and suggested giving more regulatory power back to state and tribal governments.

“Taken together, these policies will fully unleash the energy revolution, creating more jobs, higher wages, cheaper gas and cheaper electricity, while better protecting our interests abroad and our environment,” Bush wrote.

Bush is the second Republican presidential candidate to outline his energy plan, following Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who pitched his last month.

Environmental groups were not impressed by Bush’s proposals.

The League of Conservation Voters called the proposal “a carbon bomb.”

“It ignores sound science and undoes any meaningful progress we have made combating climate change,” LCV senior vice president of campaigns Daniel Weiss said.

“This plan threatens public health and economic growth by dumping millions of tons of carbon pollution into the atmosphere. Bush assumes that pollution is free, but that only applies to companies and not the public who will pay its costs.”

“This plan promises voters the world,” Sierra Club political director Khalid Pitts said in a statement.

“But the truth is that the world is exactly what it would sacrifice to fatten the wallets of dirty energy conglomerates like Koch Industries — all while failing to tackle the moral imperative of the climate crisis and just days after Pope Francis made clear that this is one of the greatest challenges facing humanity.”

Chris Christie vetoed Planned Parenthood funding 5 times, Hilary Rosen claims

By Katie Sanders on Sunday, November 10th, 2013 at 5:15 p.m.

Democratic pundit Hilary Rosen isn’t buying all the talk about newly re-elected New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie being a moderate Republican. In a roundtable discussion on CNN’s State of the Union, Rosen painted Christie as out of touch when it comes to women’s reproductive issues.

"Women consistently bring Democrats over the top in these purple states," Rosen said during the Nov. 10 show. "When you look at Chris Christie and you try and take that forward, you’ve got an anti-choice candidate who has vetoed Planned Parenthood funding five times over the course of his governorship."
