President Obama is giving serious consideration to going around Congress to impose stricter background checks for gun purchases, the Washington Post reported today.
The president is heading to Roseburg, Oregon today to meet with families and victims of the Oct. 1 mass shooting at Umpqua Community College, which left nine people dead.
The Post reported:
Under the proposed rule change, dealers who exceed a certain number of sales each year would be required to obtain a license from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and perform background checks on potential buyers.

In the wake of last week’s tragedy, Obama said he had asked his team “to scrub what kinds of authorities do we have to enforce the laws that we have in place more effectively to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.”
“We are hopeful we can find a way to do this,” said one senior administration official, who noted that lawyers were still working through details to ensure that the rule could pass legal muster. “It’s a lot more clear today than it was a year ago how to work this out.”
Some victims' families in southern Oregon have expressed their opposition to Obama's visit, arguing that they reject his calls for more gun control in the wake of the tragedy.

That would be correct to the best of my knowledge.
The FG works in contrary to the Constitution in creating laws against A2. As they fail to defend and uphold the Constitution, it is incumbent on all decent people, the citizen creators of this Republic, to concentrate on destroying this evil; for, left unchecked, it will and is destroying what "We" have created.
The foresight of the founders was and still is impeccable on this matter.
That is also true Pody, What I intended to convey is the Constitutionally protected American Right to bear arms in symbolic to the rest of the world because even though other Countries have Constitutions the only one I know of that protects the common man's right to have the means of self protection from criminals and government alike is our Constitution
IMO
"We" are the symbols of our freedom; weapons are our security to protect and ensure it.
“A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.”

"No free man shall ever be de-barred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain their right to keep and bear arms is as a last resort to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
