SURPRISE! Liberal Claims of Republican Extremism Are TOTAL GARBAGE

How many times in the last few years have you heard a liberal say Reagan could never be elected by today’s Republicans? The truth is the exact opposite.

The truth is that JFK would be considered a conservative by today’s Democrats.

A new study cited by The American Interest confirms it:

Study: Democrats Moving Left Faster Than Republicans Moving Right

At least since the 2010 midterms, it’s been a liberal talking point that Republican extremism is to blame for political polarization and gridlock. In the old days, the argument goes, Republicans were a moderate party, but over the past generation the GOP has been gradually taken over by its far-right wing. Before the last GOP debate, for example, the Center for American Progress launched a “Right of Reagan” campaign to supposedly show “how the extremism of today’s Republican presidential candidates sets them apart from their conservative idol.”

But as the debates over issues like the $15 minimum wage, healthcare, and universal preschool have already shown, the Democrats have moved to the left at least as quickly as the Republicans have moved to the right. After all, Hillary Clinton has to renounce a good chunk of her husband’s positions to be competitive in the 2016 primary.

In 2008, Democrats would froth at the mouth if you called Obama a socialist. Now they’re rallying around one.

The same segment of the Democratic Party which helped elect Obama in 2008 and 2012 isn’t supporting Hillary Clinton.

They want Bernie Sanders.

When you’re that far left on the political scale, even the center looks right wing.

Today the democrats are desparate, for various reasons. They know they are about to lose, are flailing around and using their most potent weapon - the academia/media complex- to tar GOP in the hopes the Republicans will stay home and not vote.

It seems like the only thing, the only event which may save them is their opposition committing political suicide by  internal fights and not being able to unify behind one candidate. The Tea Party can make valid and loud claims against the establishment and fight them like hell, but if they stay home come voting time, Hillary or her equivalent will be saved. And if the establishment doesn't know how to make common cause with the Tea Party, then they too will be responsible for making Hillary president.

And by then, Hillary will openly be the socialist she has been denying all her life.

marrand . Let me see if I can show you how most here see it. The progressive left has come in and totally put this country on a road to Socialism. Many here do not want to elect a progressive Republican just to smooth out the bumps in the road laid by the progressive left because, we have seen that it only takes a couple of years of the masses running on the new pavement that they fall into a comfort zone with it. Mean while losing a portion of freedoms. Our countries liberty has been so diminished by this way of elections since Reagan. To allow the Republican progressives to continue to do road maintenance for the progressive movement will only ensure the move towards Globalization, and lose of liberty. I hope this will put a shinning of understanding on what makes a Libertarian tick. Libertarians are fighting to restore Liberty..I mean is not that why our country was founded ?

Our countries liberty has been so diminished by this way of elections since Reagan. To allow the Republican progressives to continue to do road maintenance for the progressive movement will only ensure the move towards Globalization, and lose of liberty

Well SAID AND I AGREE!

Kevin:

Thanks, but I KNOW "how most here see it". I have been reading Tea Party posts for many years, and had arguments with the most vocal ones. Your post, however, is highlighting one new point: it used to be RINOs who are the devils, now it's the Republican progressives. Please, don't bother explaining the differences, if any; both are the enemies of people who think like you, and that is all I need to know. In any case, it is name calling, the practice so well refined by the left wing media. I think in terms of Republican, Republican Establishment, Conservative, and TeaParty. The word progressive is an insult, while word RINO is merely dismissive.

As I read about current situation in the House, it seems we have about 40 members who are true Tea Party people (correct me if I am wrong), and the rest are RINOs or progressives. Is that right? You are doing the labeling here, so I defer to you. Now, if we have 200 Republicans who are RINOs or progressives, or let's say only 150 of them, then who elected them? Who are the people who voted for them? Also progressives?

I hear from the true blue dedicated Tea Partiers that people elected Republicans in huge numbers to undo a lot of damage Obama did, yet they are doing nothing. TP critics are right. The GOP in the House has done nothing to please you or me. Yet majority of them were elected by progressives? Not enough true blue Tea Party members to elect their own majority in the House?

In my opinion, all Republicans in the House know well, very well, why our country was founded. But none stand up to lead and be tough about their positions, like Rep. King said recently. It's a matter of personal cowardice and fear of brutal fights, not lack of principles.

When using progressive to explain someone , it basically means progressing towards the new way of the world order. I would hope you realize that many want to move towards a global society while others think we should keep our sovereignty. I am sure you see this to be a real concern for many.

Kevin, we got two terms of Obama precisely because republicans could not get voters out. Republican's didn't vote because McCain and Romney weren't their men. So they choose to let a progressive democrat win the WH. There is nothing wrong with fighting for your candidate but there comes a time when you know you candidate can't win is to change course and work towards victory. We get what we deserve not from our action, but more by our inaction.

Jack:

I heard someplace that it is bad when bad people do bad.

But it's much worse when good people do nothing.

And that's the point you seem to be making.
