During a lengthy interview on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Trump refused multiple opportunities to jab any of his opponents.

He instead struck a conciliatory tone, saying he "didn't think anybody did poorly," and noting that the GOP candidates were "getting better" with each passing debate. He also had some faint praise for chief rival Ben Carson, saying, "I thought he was good." He said other opponents like Jeb Bush "couldn't be nicer."

And the business mogul was effusive in his praise of Fox Business Network, who hosted the debate following a performance by CNBC moderators in the previous debate that was widely panned by its participants and other Republicans.

Asked by MSNBC whether he would let Ben Carson run one of his companies -- a wink at an attack Trump launched at Marco Rubio days earlier -- Trump passed on the opportunity to hit the retired neurosurgeon. He quipped, "I'd let him operate on a friend of mine -- not necessarily me, but a friend of mine," before conceding that he would let him run one of his companies.

Earlier that morning, Trump used Twitter with much the same message, crowning himself the winner of the debate and lavishing praise on its moderators.

Trump Rips Obama over Chattanooga: Stop Being So Politically Correct About Islam

Breaking News

Donald Trump called into The O’Reilly Factor tonight to react to the Chattanooga shooting and to rip President Obama for being too “politically correct” with Islam.

Trump bemoaned the tragedy and went off on the “ridiculous” idea of gun-free zones, saying that the solution is better intelligence, asking how no one could have seen this coming.

Bill O’Reilly asked him about a potential “backlash against Muslim Americans” as a result of the shooting. Trump said probably, but also went off on President Obama for refusing to identify Islamic terrorism as a threat to the United States.

“If we’re going to fight elements that are causing tremendous problems,” Trump said, “at least we have to start maybe being not so politically correct.”

Trump warns Syrian refugees could be 'one of the great Trojan horses'

Donald Trump continued his criticism of President Obama's Syria policy Monday, hours after Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes said the President has no plans to halt the acceptance of refugees from the war-torn country.

"We cannot let them into this country, period," the Republican presidential hopeful told CNBC.

Trump continued, "We have no idea who these people are, we are the worst when it comes to paperwork.

"This could be one of the great Trojan horses," he said.

Despite suggesting in early September that the U.S. should open its doors to a limited number of Syrian refugees "on a humanitarian basis," the real estate mogul has blasted the administration in recent weeks for allowing them into the country. Trump went as far as to say that, as president, he would send them back.

"I'm putting people on notice that are coming here from Syria as part of this mass migration, that if I win, they're going back," he told supporters in New Hampshire in late September.

"They could be ISIS. ... This could be one of the greatest tactical ploys of all time. A 200,000 man army maybe. I don't know that it is, but it could be possible," Trump added at the time.

French authorities confirmed on Sunday that one of the terrorists involved in the recent attacks in Paris, France, arrived in Europe in wave of Syrian refugees. The man, who falsely identified himself as Ahmad al Muhammad, was permitted to enter Greece in October, according to CNN.

"I know so many people, Muslims, who are such unbelievably great people, and they're being so badly tarnished by what's happening now, it's a shame," Trump, who's third in the Washington Examiner's presidential power rankings, added Monday during an interview with MSNBC. "But it's a tremendous amount of horror and damage and vitriol."

President Obama's Monday press conference made him seem more angry with Republicans and the press that with the terrorists who attacked Paris last week, Donald Trump argued Wednesday.

"It was just terrible. It was so unprofessional," Trump said on Fox News. "He was angry at the press and you know people had just been killed and you have these animals out there shooting everybody and frankly he wasn't angry at them he was angry at the press."

"And I think he was angry at the Republicans, I think mainly me, but he didn't want to use the name, which is fine," Trump added. "But I think he was angry at the Republicans, but he was really angry at the press, and he showed very little anger toward the people that did all this carnage."

Obama seemed to be referring to his GOP critics when he said his administration would not change its policy toward the Islamic State, and said just sounding tougher in a press conference, something Trump in particular is famous for, wouldn't help.

More from the Washington Examiner

"Some of them seem to think that if I were just more bellicose in expressing what we're doing, that that would make a difference, because that seems to be the only thing that they're doing, is talking as if they're tough," Obama said. "But I haven't seen particular strategies that they would suggest that would make a real difference."

Trump continued to argue that the presidency has not been a "natural fit" for Obama and called the Obama administration a "disaster." Trump has fallen to fourth in the Washington Examiner's GOP presidential power rankings.
