The Dutch Tulip Bubble of 1637
The later part of the 20th century saw its share of odd financial bubbles. There was the real-estate bubble, the stock market bubbles, and the dot com bubble, just to name a few. In each instance of price inflation people paid exorbitant amounts for things that shouldn’t have been worth anything like the going price. And each time people stood around afterwards and said “What were we thinking?”

One has to believe that the same thought occurred to the Dutch in the 17th century when they settled down after their bout with tulipomania, wherein the humble tulip bulb began to sell for prices to make New York Realtors blanch.

As much as the tulip is associated with Holland, it is not native there. Rather it was introduced in 1593 by a botanist named Carolus Clusius, who brought it from Constantinople. He planted a small garden, intending to research the plant for medicinal purposes. Had Clusius’s neighbors been morally upright, the tulip might still be a rare exotic in the gardening world. Instead they broke into his garden and stole some of his bulbs in order to make some quick money, and in the process started the Dutch bulb trade

Donald Trump will propose one of the biggest tax cuts since the days of Ronald Reagan in a new economic blueprint to be unveiled next week, according to an adviser to the Republican presidential candidate.

Trump will reiterate his plan to cut the corporate tax rate to 15 percent, Heritage Foundation chief economist Stephen Moore said Friday in an interview with Bloomberg Television. At the same time, Trump has managed to whittle down the cost in terms of lost tax revenue by about two-thirds, to $3 trillion, he said, without specifying a timeline.

“If you’re a working-class American, there’s no question that an agenda that cuts taxes, that gets rids of regulations, redoes some of these trade deals in ways that are pro-America, is going to help,” said Moore, who was named Friday to Trump’s team of economic advisers. Other members include financiers John Paulson and Andy Beal and economists David Malpass and Peter Navarro.

Trump has promised to unveil a new policy agenda for “revitalizing the American economy” in a speech Monday at the Detroit Economic Club.

Iran announced that they executed Shahram Amiri for spying on behalf of the United States. His name was referred to in a July, 2010 Clinton email as “our friend.”

This was brought out by Sen. Tom Cotton during his “Face the Nation” interview Sunday on CBS News with host John Dickerson.

“I’m not going to comment on what he may or may not have done for the United States government, but in the emails that were on Hillary Clinton’s private server, there were conversations among her senior advisors about this gentleman,” the Arkansas Republican told Dickerson at about 5:15 into the interview.

The Daily Mail reported on Amiri’s execution:

Shahram Amiri, who was hanged on Sunday for ‘revealing secrets to the enemy’, was in the US and allegedly informing on Tehran’s extensive nuclear program during the Democrat’s controversial reign as Secretary of State.

At the time she stressed researcher had been there of his ‘own free will’ and was described as ‘our friend’ in correspondences.

“That goes to show just how reckless and careless her decision was to put that kind of highly classified information on a private server. And I think her judgment is not suited to keep this country safe,” Cotton said.

A former Secret Service agent who is running for Congress as a Florida Republican has a brutal message for party members who refuse to back presidential nominee Donald Trump.

Dan Bongino, who is making a run to represent Florida’s southwest region after failing to win in 2014 in Maryland, says he sees too many GOP politicians not supporting Trump. That’s essentially the same as voting for Clinton, according to an interview with WND.com.

“Understand this … by supporting Hillary you are actively contributing to the destruction of the greatest country on Earth,” he thundered. “This is not a theoretical exercise. You are destroying your kids’ economy. You are destroying your kids’ health care system. You are destroying your kids’ education system. You are destroying any semblance of reality in our court system. You’re destroying any sense of getting the government out of your life through this massive overgrowth of government bureaucracy. And you’re entrenching seven years of Barack Obama.

“You. In real time, you’re doing that.

“Bret Stephens at the Wall Street Journal said at least Mrs. Clinton isn’t a sociopath,” Bongino charged. “Listen, I was a graduate student in psychology. I encourage you strongly to look up the definition of a sociopath. Maybe you’ll re-evaluate that stance.

“What is this, some bizarre theoretical exercise to you where you think you’re making some kind of a point by supporting Hillary Clinton?” he asked. “What’s your point? ‘I hate America and I want to destroy it?’”

Bongino’s comments come after GOP elites and the failed “Never Trump” movement attempts to prop up former CIA staffer Evan McMullin, who recently launched an independent presidential bid.

Dan Bongino is quite right

There's no argument against it any more. Globalist socialism is a curse that destroys your soul and your finances. Every western nation is now in a financial quandary, keep borrowing for unfunded liabilities and escalate the level of debt while global economic growth is slowing and showing no signs of picking up. Or drastically reduce borrowing and get back to free market economics coupled with a sacrificing of all but the obviously necessary social programs (minimal safety net that Nations generally provide)

Being a strong leader in the World, but getting weaker in terms of holding on to respect from other nations, the United States must have a strong leader. I said it years ago on TPP, "This is not the time in world history for the US to go to jelly, it needs to remain strong, both economically and militarily to maintain world peace"

There doesn't have to be to be a World War for turmoil to disrupt world peace, a weakening world economy, factional and religious conflict also can threaten world peace. We're seeing that now and we'll see more of it under soulless globalist socialism

You have a choice between globalist socialism which looks good on the surface, but rotten underneath. Or strong free market conditioning enabling strength of mind and economic and personal freedom

I know who I'd be voting for

Ozzie,

You know you could become a registered Democrat and have them send you an absentee Ballot. Considering how they want voters from anywhere I'm sure they would make a case for you to become a registered voter just like the rest of their undocumented voters. LOL!!!

lol I'm sure they would! They'll need every vote they can get

Hillary is making a mistake, she's copying Trump's thunder "Make America Great Again", trying to make it her own. Trump is the originator of it, he owns it and should be admired for having the wisdom to include it in his policy statements

Trump may have his faults but which President hasn't had faults? Look at Trump's policies first and foremost. They can, unlike Hillary's, rectify a lot of the problems the US has right now

Choose the stronger mindset over the weaker one

I think that what Hillary did with her server and before that with her totally unprotected Blackberry was certifiable treason. That is covered in the Constitution complete with penalty provisions;

The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

ARTICLE III, SECTION 3, CLAUSE 2

And speaking of presidential faults, Obama made Carter look stellarly good.

The "congress" are just like the clintoons & obomas . Self serving oligarchs!

Treason against the United States , shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. I don't recall Hillary levying War against the United States or do I recall she gave aid and comfort to the enemy. To be convicted of treason their must be two witness of the same overt Act, or on confession in open court. Neither exists. Having a personal server is not treason or having a Blackberry is also not treason. They may be failures to comply with regulations but those charges would have to be brought before a court and proven.

Jack, It is when she refused to have her personal Blackberry hardened and used it to send and receive Classified documents, same for her Private server. She was also taking orders from Soros when she was Secretary of State. Leaked E-mail link; http://www.theamericanmirror.com/leaked-e-mail-shows-george-soros-u...

Excerpt;

The left wing billionaire also gave Clinton a list of potential nominees to appoint as mediator: Carl Bildt, Martti Ahtisaari and Miroslav Lajcak.

The e-mail was sent from Soros’ aide to Richard Verma, then the Assistant Secretary of State for Legislative Affairs who forwarded it to several of Clinton’s top aides including Huma Abedin, Jacob Sullivan, and Philip Gordon. Sullivan forwarded it to Clinton.

Just three days after Clinton received the e-mail from Soros the EU ended up sending Soros’ suggested nominee Lajcak to mediate the civil unrest, the BBC reported.
