The Dutch Tulip Bubble of 1637
The later part of the 20th century saw its share of odd financial bubbles. There was the real-estate bubble, the stock market bubbles, and the dot com bubble, just to name a few. In each instance of price inflation people paid exorbitant amounts for things that shouldn’t have been worth anything like the going price. And each time people stood around afterwards and said “What were we thinking?”

One has to believe that the same thought occurred to the Dutch in the 17th century when they settled down after their bout with tulipomania, wherein the humble tulip bulb began to sell for prices to make New York Realtors blanch.

As much as the tulip is associated with Holland, it is not native there. Rather it was introduced in 1593 by a botanist named Carolus Clusius, who brought it from Constantinople. He planted a small garden, intending to research the plant for medicinal purposes. Had Clusius’s neighbors been morally upright, the tulip might still be a rare exotic in the gardening world. Instead they broke into his garden and stole some of his bulbs in order to make some quick money, and in the process started the Dutch bulb trade

The Dissolution of American Culture
By Patricia McCarthy

Joni Mitchell wrote "Both Sides Now" in 1967. Though she wrote it in the midst of the '60s cataclysm of protests against the Vietnam War, the advent of free love and all that that entailed, and what seemed like an all-out rebellion against everything that had come before, it was a sweet song about clouds and how children see them. Like Peter Yarrow's "Puff the Magic Dragon", it was just a lovely song. Sure, there is wistfulness in it, regret and ambivalence can be read into the lyrics. But it was well and truly just a beautiful song. And that was the turbulent sixties.

"Rows and rows of angel hair

And ice cream castles in the air

And feather canyons everywhere

I've looked at clouds that way"

Fast forward to 2016. There are no beautiful melodies to what is still called “music” but is not music at all. Consider Kanye West's latest, called "Facts":

"Dirt and grime and filth inside

The story of my lifetime

Of cheating, stealing, never feeling

Pain of a brother, your dirty mother..."

We won't quote the rest because his lyrics are truly disgusting to anyone born before 1995. That millions of young people have made this man a millionaire is a sad commentary to say the least. West is vile, lewd, and rude -- everything we do not want our young people to become. But Kanye and his wife are good friends of Obama and are frequent guests at the White House along with numerous other rappers who spew equally offensive lyrics.

Iron sharpens iron, and there is wisdom in a multitude of counsel. If I shut off the ability of my associates, and friends to question me — whether on line or in public — I would be guilty of slouching into a tyrannical mindset. And sooner or later, that would transform me into a man of caricature instead of character.

Unfortunately, it appears there are many who prefer tyranny these days. Certain elements of progressivism rely on tyranny as they rely on oxygen. It is their reason for getting up in the morning. Whatever their backward and broken cause, you will be made to care about it.  If you are such a progressive, knowing your place in the Borg hive mind is paramount. There will be no dissent. There will be no questions. There will be no second opinions.

For never forget progressivism is the heresy of this era, and the spirit of the age. Seeking to replace the church with the state and God with the government. And political correctness is its inquisition. Personal attacks humiliation is its stake that opposition is burned at.

Maybe gone forever!

George Soros and the Birddogging Democrat machine are behind the riots happening in America.

WOW! AMERICA IS UNDER ATTACK By These 187 Organizations Directly Funded By George Soros

Some of the names on this list will shock you…Abortion groups, open borders, immigrant groups,  groups to change the way we vote, universal health care, climate change, “Catholics”, Socialists and Communists. Soros actually has a group whose stated goal is to take money from rich Jews and give it to those with less. Considering a video just surfaced yesterday showing George Soros (a Jew) admitting that he helped confiscate property from Jews during WWII, the idea that Soros is funding such a group is not really so stunning.

nothing surprising about this...old news for those that follow glen beck, he has laid it out in detail several yrs ago with the names.

the big question that is avoided is why wont we get behind the constitution and use it to stop soros and others that pay politicians for special favors to achieve their agenda.

or why some think supporting poli's that openly speak out against the constitution

The problem with the use of "we" here is that it is an artificial construct.

We, you and me, may very well be behind the codified ideals of the constitution but if you try and say we as in the American people collectively then things fall apart since there is no such animal.

Individualism is difficult when it comes to politics since all one can ask is why are individuals not doing such and the answer is they either have not been convinced or cannot be convinced to do so.

BTW this is why collectivism ALWAYS fails.

If there is more than one person per head then I gotta call a priest or a shrink.
