Supreme Court Deals ANOTHER Major Blow to Libs!

 7/27/18  by: True Daily Staff

On Wednesday, in a decision that was a major blow to public sector and teachers’ unions, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of a public sector employee who refused to join a public union and objected to paying a union fee that was automatically deducted from his paycheck every month under the union’s contract.

As Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the decision, “States and public-sector unions may no longer extract agency fees from nonconsenting employees.”

The case involved Mark Janus, a child support worker in Illinois, who would not join the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, which represents state employees. He would not pay the $45 union fee (known as an “agency” or “fair share” fee) the union demanded every month from his paycheck.

The right of the union to collect the fee was based on the SCOTUS decision in Abood v. Detroit Bd. of Ed.

That decision permitted a union to charge only for services from which nonunion members benefited, including negotiating and administering a collective bargaining agreement and handling grievance procedures, as marketplace.org noted.

But the Supreme Court reversed the Abood decision, ruling that Janus was “undisputedly injured in fact by Illinois’ agency-fee scheme and his injuries can be redressed by a favorable court decision … The State’s extraction of agency fees from nonconsenting public- sector employees violates the First

Amendment. Abood erred in concluding otherwise, and stare decisis cannot support it. Abood is therefore overruled.”

Unions had a place in society a long time ago. But as the businesses grew and the workforce became larger too many of the union leaders saw a way to get rich. They even built themselves resorts where only union officials could take extended vacations, live in comfort, and just raise union dues to pay for their pleasure.

It is way past time for them to be exposed. I speak from experience having been involved with unions for MANY years. The fair minded people who worked in the unions were weeded out by those who set their sights on the “good life”. This is an excellent decision by the court.

“How long did you talk to him when he let you go?” Gowdy asked.

Strozk’s testimony has opened more questions over the Mueller investigation.

The Border Patrol Claims Dumb Assed  NY City Mayor Bill de Blasio Illegally Crossed The Border.

New York City Mayor, dumb assed Bill de Blasio embarrassingly violated Mexican and U.S. laws when he and his security team crossed the southern border in June near El Paso, TX.

De Blasio was with a group of 20 mayors who were attempting to gain access to a holding facility for illegal alien children. They crossed the border to get a better view of the facility.

Chief patrol agent Aaron Hull for the Border Patrol’s El Paso Sector sent a letter to de Blasio informing them of their violation. The AP reports:

According to the letter, a uniformed Border Patrol agent noticed a group on the Rio Grande River flood plain south of the Tornillo, Texas, Port of Entry, taking photos of the holding facility. The agent asked if anyone from Border Patrol or public affairs was there to authorize their presence. A New York Police Department inspector said 'NO', according to the letter, and when the agent asked the group how they arrived, they pointed to Mexico.

But the group disregarded the order and drove back to Mexico, according to the letter.”

Through his spokesman de Blasio denied the allegations saying, “The mayor crossed the border with the direct approval and under the supervision of the border patrol supervisor at this port of entry. Any suggestion otherwise is a flat-out lie and an obvious attempt by someone to attack the Mayor because of his advocacy for families being ripped apart at the border by the Trump Administration.”

Subject: Take a knee:

All I can say is AMEN!

Let's all pause for a moment and seek our sameness instead of our differences and ask God to heal our land and bring us back together.

SM Take a knee... written by Ted Nugent Take a little trip to Valley Forge in January.

"Hold a musket ball in your fingers and imagine it piercing your flesh and breaking a bone or two. There won't be a doctor or trainer to assist you until after the battle, so just wait your turn.

Take your cleats and socks off to get a real experience. Then, take a knee on the beach in Normandy where man after American man stormed the beach, even as the one in front of him was shot to pieces, the very sea stained with American blood.

The only blockers most had were the dead bodies in front of them, riddled with bullets from enemy fire.

Take a knee in the sweat soaked jungles of Vietnam. From Khe Sanh to Saigon, anywhere will do. Americans died in all those jungles.

There was no playbook that told them what was next, but they knew what flag they represented. When they came home, they were protested as well, and spit on for reasons only cowards know.

Take another knee in the blood drenched sands of Fallujah in 110 degree heat. Wear your Kevlar helmet and battle dress. Your number won't be printed on it unless your number is up! You'll need to stay hydrated but there won't be anyone to squirt Gatorade into your mouth. You're on your own.

There are a lot of places to take a knee where Americans have given their lives all over the world.

When you use the banner under which they fought as a source for your displeasure, you dishonor the memories of those who bled for the very freedoms you have. That's what the red stripes mean. It represents the blood of those who spilled a sea of it defending your liberty.

While you're on your knee, pray for those that came before you, not on a manicured lawn striped and printed with numbers to announce every inch of ground taken, but on nameless hills and bloodied beaches and sweltering forests and bitter cold mountains, every inch marked by an American life lost serving that flag you protest.

No cheerleaders, no announcers, no coaches, no fans, just American men and women, delivering the real fight against those who chose to harm us, blazing a path so you would have the right to "take a knee."

You haven't any inkling of what it took to get you where you are, but your "protest" is duly noted.

Not only is it disgraceful to a nation of real heroes, it serves the purpose of pointing to your ingratitude for those who chose to defend you under that banner that will still wave long after your jersey is retired.

If you really feel the need to take a knee, come with me to church on Sunday and we'll both kneel before Almighty God. We'll thank Him for preserving this country for as long as He has We'll beg forgiveness for our ingratitude for all He has provided us. We'll appeal to Him for understanding and wisdom. We'll pray for liberty and justice for all, because He is the one who provides those things.

BUT THERE WILL BE NO PROTEST.

There will only be gratitude for His provision and a plea for His continued grace and mercy on the land of the free and the home of the brave.

It goes like this, GOD BLESS AMERICA.

*** MY HAT'S OFF TO YA TED!  WELL STATED. ***

Academy Sports manager fired weeks after intercepting gun thief suspect in Florida store, lawyer says.

7/11/18 By Elizabeth Zwirz | Fox News

Dean Crouch, a sporting goods store employee who last month helped catch a suspect allegedly trying to steal a weapon, was suspended and later lost his job at the Florida business following the incident, his lawyer said.

Dean Crouch, a sporting goods store employee who last month helped catch a suspect trying to steal a weapon, was suspended and later lost his job at the Florida business following the incident, his lawyer said.

Dean Crouch, 32, was working at the Academy Sports store in Tallahassee on June 29 when robbery suspect Jason White allegedly tried to steal a gun, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.

After Jason White tried to flee with the stolen firearm he’d requested to see, Dean Crouch stepped in and ultimately detained him.

While police made their way to the scene, the suspect was relocated to an office at the business, he said.

Attorney Hobbs said the suspect had attempted to make off with a .40 caliber handgun and matching ammunition.

Man Arrested for Stealing Three Firearms from Two Local Businesses.

The Tallahassee Police Department has made an arrest for three firearm thefts occurring Friday, June 29, 2018 at two different business. TPD officers responded to Cash America Pawn located 2535 South Adams Street at 11:21 a.m. Employees reported a man requested to look at two handguns, a .45 caliber and a .380 caliber handgun. The man picked up both handguns and ran outside the store without purchasing them.

The Tallahassee Police Department, who arrested the suspect, wrote on Facebook that “employees detained a man who tried to run out of the store with a firearm, ammunition, and a backpack, which were stolen from the business.”

The suspect also stole two weapons from a pawn shop earlier the same day, police said.

Attorney Hobbs claimed that Dean Crouch was placed on suspension in the days after the incident amid a policy that prohibits employees from placing their hands on customers while they’re in the store.

Dean Crouch lost his job on Tuesday, he said, adding that his client had been “suspended and terminated for preventing this thief from stealing this weapon.”

“Academy has decided to, instead of treating him like a hero he is, they terminated his employment effective immediately because he put his hands on Mr. White,” Hobbs told the Tallahassee Democrat.

Left without a job, Hobbs told Fox News that Crouch – who has a wife and two small children – put their home up for sale as “a direct result of him losing his job at Academy Sports.”

 “They’re just scared,” he said.

A representative for Academy Sports did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

A company spokeswoman Elise Hasbrook told the Democrat that Academy’s treatment of the former employee’s conduct, as well as his eventual firing, complied with company policy.  “While the incident ended without injury, actions inconsistent with corporate policies were taken,” she told the outlet. “We addressed the matter with the local store and individuals involved.”

Hobbs told Fox News that they are “exploring” their “options” but at this point, no lawsuit has been filed. At the moment, he said they’re more concerned with “trying to protect his rights” and finding him a new job.

Hobbs also told the Democrat that Academy’s policy might warrant a re-examination.

My instincts tell me they are concerned more about people like Mr. White suing them for being stopped in the course of a theft than they are about rewarding or acknowledging in a positive manner that Mr. Crouch may have saved lives,” he told the outlet.

Border Patrol agents rescue abandoned 3-year-old girl in Texas.

7/11/18  By Nicole Darrah | Fox News

A three-year-old girl and her mother are reunited after being separated in Texas. U.S. Border Patrol says the two were separated after being smuggled across the southern border.

The little  girl who was reportedly abandoned as she was smuggled into the U.S. was rescued Monday by Border Patrol agents and the National Guard who searched the area looking for her.

Agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector of the southern border responded to reports that illegal immigrants could possibly be hiding underneath a bridge, according to a press release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

BORDER PATROL AGENTS ATTACKED WITH ROCKS WHILE RESCUING PREGNANT WO...

Once agents responded to the scene, a woman told them that she was smuggled into the U.S., and her daughter — who was supposed to cross the border next — was missing.

Officials said the mother saw the smuggler and her daughter "both drifting down the [Rio Grande river] as she lost sight of them," and couldn't tell whether the two returned to Mexico or if her daughter had drifted away by herself.

Riverine units from the Harlingen Border Patrol Station and a helicopter from the National Guard were dispatched to search for the child, who was eventually located "walking on the river road."

The girl, according to Border Patrol, was found unharmed.

 COMMENTS:

1. But the left thinks illegals and their smugglers are fine upstanding law abiding folks. The smuggler abandoned the kid to fend for herself and could have perished had it not been for the mother reporting to the Border patrol that by the way did an amazing job of finding the child who was is now safe. Imagine what could have happened if the left had it's way and disbanded ICE. Somehow the knuckle dragging leftists will find a way to blame President Trump for this.

2. Well this sure puts a kink in the "poor pitiful devastated separated from their parent's " angle the liberals are pushing now doesn't it!

3.  "...was reunited with her mother." Are you kidding me? She leaves her three year old, so she can get cross ILLEGALLY before her daugther?

4.  'President Trumps' border patrol SAVED a 3 year old baby that a human trafficker separated from her mother & abandoned to wander around the Rio Grand on her own, (the mother paid them to do this) how the hell is this going to look to all those socialist who want these hard working border patrol officers to look evil, when in fact they are saving lives everyday.'

University of Wyoming's 'cowboy' slogan rustles up some idiotic controversy.

7/11/18 By Amy Lieu | Fox News

A new University of Wyoming slogan, "The world needs more cowboys," has some arguing that it's sexist.

University of Wyoming's new slogan, "The world needs more cowboys," has some arguing that it's sexist.

"The world needs more cowboys," the University of Wyoming says in a new marketing slogan.

Apparently not everyone agrees.

The slogan has drawn backlash from critics, including faculty members and Native American groups, who call the catchphrase sexist, racist and counterproductive to university recruitment -- because it excludes women and people of color, Reuters reported.

The university’s mascot is a “cowboyriding a bucking horse with hat in hand.

  logo

Darrell Hutchinson, a cultural specialist, told Reuters that people who do not fit the stereotypical image of a cowboy – “a white man with a wide-brimmed hat riding the range on horseback” – are not made to feel welcome.

“If you’re not a white person, and especially if you’re an Indian, it would make you feel out of place -- it wouldn’t make you feel too good about yourself,” said Hutchinson, a member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe in Wyoming.

University officials in Laramie defended the tagline, which they said was created by a Colorado-based marketing firm.“In a vacuum, the term ‘cowboy’ appears gender- and perhaps race-specific, but in the context of the branding campaign it is connected to images and words that show our cowboys are diverse, of every sex and background,” university spokesman Chad Baldwin said, according to Reuters.

He said the university wants to “throw away” the stereotype of cowboys, updating what it means and looks like to be one.

A cowboy is not what you are, but who you are,” Baldwin said.

The campaign cost $500,000 and is part of a more than $1.4 million investment to advertise the university, located around 50 miles northwest of Cheyenne.

Jim Magagna, executive vice president of the Wyoming Stock Growers Association, said ranchers are worried the dispute may cast “aspersions on a time-honored way of life and work,” according to Reuters.

“We are proud of the true image of the real cowboy or cowgirl, often of very diverse race or ethnicity, riding the range on a well-groomed horse while sporting a cowboy hat, chaps, spurs and a rope,” he said in a statement.

 pete

Pistol Pete is the 'cowboy' mascot of the University of Wyoming.- University of Wyoming Athletics.

Wyoming, the so-called 'Cowboy State', hosts the university’s sports teams, also called the 'Cowboys';

a 'cowboy' mascot named Pistol Pete also appears at games.

Donal O’Toole, a university professor, said he believes the critics make a valid point.

“This is a sexist slogan,” O'Toole told the Chronicle of Higher Education.

"As with many universities, the higher you will go up in rank, the higher proportion of men you find within the university," said O’Toole, who is president of the Faculty Senate. He said that in a state where the official motto is “'Equal Rights' … we need to make an effort to reach everyone.”

"It’s very 1950s to think that ‘boy’ somehow includes ‘girl.'"- Christine Porter, associate professor at University of Wyoming.  "the slogan simply sounds outdated."

Christine Boggs, co-chair of the Committee on Women and People of Color at the university, told Reuters that she had no criticism of cowboys, since her father was one. But she pointed out that the committee’s 50 to 60 members were “very upset,” the Chronicle reported. “If we’re striving to be a diverse university, exposing our students to a broader scope of ideas, we have to invite them in a more positive, inclusive way,” Boggs told Reuters.

A group of female scientists also wrote a letter to university administrators, asking them “embrace a slogan that takes us into the 21st Century,” according to the education news site.

Despite the pushback, the new slogan is set to launch Sept. 14. **** YE-HAA! ****

Points To Ponder:

1. Is Oklahoma State next? And there are a number of colleges and universities nicknamed Beavers and Cougars, too. And, of course, what about The Dallas 'Cowboys'?

2. The PC crowd should try to learn a little of the history of what there protesting,,, Bulldogging was invented by a black man (Bill Pickett) Many of the old Cowboys where Indians , blacks , Mexicans and from all parts of the world. and some where even female.

3. Sounds like these "educated" professors don't know much about the history of cowboys. They should try cracking open a book...or even just using Google.

4. Since the cowboy represents courage, commitment, independence, toughness, and the spirit of American greatness, the alt-left sissies will be against it --always...

Pardoned ranchers arrive home, plan lots of 'decompressing'.

7/11/18 By ANDREW SELSKY | Associated Press

Father and son ranchers, who were the focus of a battle about public lands and were freed from prison after receiving a presidential pardon, were welcomed home Wednesday in Oregon by relatives and horseback riders carrying American flags.

A lawyer for the family of Steven and Dwight Hammond said they remain focused on their attempt to restore grazing rights on Bureau of Land Management acreage.

Friction between the family and federal officials, and the sentencing of two members to five-year prison terms under an anti-terrorism statute, triggered the takeover of a nearby federal wildlife refuge by right-wing militants in 2016 that grabbed world headlines.

The family also wants a dialogue between ranchers, politicians, federal agencies and bureaucrats, he said.

A news conference that had been set with family members outside the high-desert town of Burns was canceled when their convoy was delayed by a roadblock set up to allow a wide-load vehicle to pass.

"The family has already gone through enough. They were tired and wanted to go home and spend time with family," Philpot said.
"Perhaps it was sheer coincidence that the oversized load was coming through the same road we were using."

The local BLM office did not immediately return a phone call or email seeking comment.

Earlier in the day, Steven Hammond and his father Dwight stepped from a private jet and into the arms of family members at a municipal airport outside the desert community of Burns.

A day earlier they were pardoned by President Donald Trump and released from a federal prison near Los Angeles.

"We're going to do a lot of decompressing and get back to our families," Steven Hammond said.

Just 25 miles away is Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, which was taken over in 2016 by armed protesters angered by the sentences given to the Hammonds.

The standoff lasted 41 days, ending after occupation leaders Ammon and Ryan Bundy were arrested and LaVoy Finicum was killed by police.

The occupiers, who believe federal control of public lands violates the Constitution, insisted the Hammonds were victimized by federal overreach.

Steven Hammond thanked President Trump and many people on Wednesday for writing to him and his father while they were in prison.

"We received thousands of letters. There's a time you get to that point where a letter means a lot," Steven Hammond said, his voice choking up in video posted on Twitter by The Oregonian/OregonLive.

Some environmentalists see a pattern in the way President Trump is approaching public lands, which comprise almost half of the U.S. West, and have linked the pardons to his position on the issue.

Witnesses testified that a 2001 arson fire occurred shortly after Steven Hammond and his hunting party illegally slaughtered deer on BLM property. The fire destroyed all evidence of the game violations, the U.S. attorney's office said.

The jury also convicted Steven Hammond for a 2006 blaze that prosecutors said began when he started several back fires, violating a burn ban, to save his winter feed after lightning started numerous fires nearby.

Federal anti-terrorism law called for mandatory five-year sentences for the 2012 convictions. A federal judge said those sentences wouldn't fit the crime, and instead sentenced Dwight Hammond to three months in prison and Steven Hammond to a year and one day.

A federal appeals court in October 2015 ordered them to be resentenced to the mandatory prison time.

"The use of anti-terrorism laws to prosecute Western ranchers makes no sense, from our perspective," Philpot said.

Elderly man beaten bloody, thanks passer-by as arrest is made.

7/12/18  By AMANDA LEE MYERS | Associated Press

Rodriguez, whose face is still black and blue a week after the attack, hugged Borjas outside his home Wednesday and thanked her for her help.

A 92-year-old man beaten repeatedly in the face with a brick in Los Angeles on Wednesday thanked the passer-by who took video of the aftermath of the attack that may have helped lead to an arrest in the case.

Rodolfo Rodriguez was out for a walk when he was beaten the night of July 4 on a sidewalk in a tough South Los Angeles neighborhood known as Willowbrook.

Misbel Borjas, who lives in the area, captured a video of Rodriguez as he sat dazed in the grass, his face covered in blood. The video and a photo that Borjas says shows the attacker drew widespread attention in the news media and on social media in the days following.

Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department arrested 30-year-old Laquisha Jones in the attack late Tuesday and booked her into jail for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon.

It's unclear if Jones has an attorney. She was being jailed in lieu of $200,000 bail.

Misbel Borjas, who said she witnessed the attack, said Rodriguez did nothing to provoke it, adding that Jones claimed he had bumped into her daughter.

"She immediately hit him with her hands and then got a brick and started hitting him in the head with the brick," Misbel Borjas said Wednesday near the scene of the attack. "He tried to block her but he's old and pretty weak."

Borjas, 35, said Rodriguez was hit about five times with the brick and that Jones yelled at him: "Go back to your country."

She said she thinks the attack was racially motivated, though the sheriff's department said Wednesday that "this is not a hate-related incident." The department didn't explain why a hate crime had been ruled out.

He told reporters that he doesn't know why he was attacked and is grateful for the outpouring of community support and well wishes he's received.

"I'm just a poor old man; I don't deserve it," he told reporters in mexcan outside his home.

As for Jones, he said she's in the right hands. (Police)

"I'll leave it to the law," he said in mexcan. "I'm not qualified to say she deserves five years or 10 years — that's not going to heal anything or heal me. What's going to heal me is Jesus Christ.

They'll give her the punishment she deserves."
