BAAL BEING HONORED IN NEW YORK CITY, JUDGMENT IS ON THE DOORSTEP

New York City is going to lead this nation into the final turn in  to God's judgment and the  destruction that comes with that judgment.  Just last week an exact duplicate of the Arch of Baal was erected in New York City to honor a pagan "god" worshipped by the Romans in ancient days.  Rabbi Jonathon Caan has written several books about the way America is bringing on the judgment of God, and this blasphemy of erecting an exact duplicate of the arch the Romans built to honor their pagan "god" is probably the final nail in the coffin of the USA.

Ba'al was a Phoenician God of Fertility, Harvests and Weather from 1500 to 300 BC; not a Roman God.

The Phoenicians settled the Levant, the eastern Mediterranean coast occupied by present day Israel and Syria; and founded the Carthage of Hannibal.

The Fertile Crescent of Antiquity produced multiple cultures and religions; all w/ similar Gods, as protectors and patrons of the various manifestations of Nature; to which they were indebted for their survival.

Fifteen hundred years before Christ, none of them considered themselves ignorant pagans.

"Fifteen hundred years before Christ, none of them considered themselves ignorant pagans."

Not sure of the point of that assertion, people never consider themselves evil even if their own evil acts have to be rationalized to the point of cognitive dissonance. They absolutely thought themselves doing just fine throwing an occasional child of their own making into a fire to insure prosperity. If it did not work then of course I'm sure they had plenty of kids.

Wonder if there could be a corollary between this and having an abortion so as not to mess up one's life? Interesting question.

Of course the Israelite of the time, or at least the faithful among them, considered Baal worship to be the personification of evil.

Now as to the question of was Baal worshiped in Rome, well of course he was just by another name without that pesky child burning thing to call attention to just how seriously insane it was to follow it.

Recreating such a temple is possibly the most insane thing I've ever seen anyone do, but it's a fairly insane world.

Point is not complicated.

Since the dawn of Man, he has embraced a religious/spiritual impulse.

As such, many varied cultures/societies produced many varied religions; each w/its own focus, perspective and temperament; each believing they were chosen.

The nostrum that one religion is better than another for this, that or the other reason is a predictable intolerant conceit of the moderns and horse manure.

Religion is an other worldly aspiration. If its  practices violate Natural Law it dies of disinterest.

Thomas, I hope your viewpoint changes before Jesus comes back and explains how wrong your outlook is because at that moment it will be too late for you to see how wrong you are and to repent.

A suggestion for what it's worth.

A lot less less Bible Thumping and a lot more reflection would do wonders for you.

For your information, Plato in his Republic, some 500 years BC, defined the Soul; an analysis  accepted by Scholastics of the High Middle Ages; such as Aquinas, Ockham, and Scotus; among many others.

The Greeks were wise men we cannot hold a candle to!!!

.

Meh the Greeks advanced many areas of thought but let us not forget their civilization was still practicing some things that would end up in a horror film today before we slap them on the back too briskly.

In short Socrates and Plato had a few issues as well. It is exactly as the idea of "The Greatest Generation" where the accomplishments are praised while forgetting the stupidity that also occurred. So much for collective praise or condemnation, it just does not hold up.

When it comes to gross stupidity; the 20th century is the clear culprit by billions of miles.

so, you are the preeminent expert on gross stupidity?  I can accept your claim of that quality.

Actually the 21st will make the 20th look like the 18th....

;)

for what it's worth, a little more Bible studying would do wonders for you.  I don't thump it, I read it and reflect on IT, not on plato!!!!!  I don't care what plato said, I care what Jesus said.  Plato didn't die for my eternal salvation, Jesus DID!!!!!

If you were as wise as like to believe you are you wouldn't utter such ridiculous malarkey.

As Bernard, Arch-Bishop of Chartres said in the High Middle Ages,"We are mere dwarfs who see as far as we do, only because we stand on the massive shoulders of the Giants of Antiquity. Some of the achievements of the Greeks included:

* Logic and Philosophy.

* Literature and Poetry including Comedy and Tragedy.

* Geometry which defined shape and space w/o which we would likely still live in caves.

* Art in the form of Sculpture.

* Architecture, that remains unsurpassed.

* History, the story of Mankind.

* Political Science which defined a republican and representative form of governance.

* Science, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics; words derived from Greek.

Moreover the Good Lord admonished us to "Render unto Caesar what is His and to the Almighty what is His." As such, this statement recognizes the dichotomy between matters of this material world and matters of the other spiritual world; the former being the realm of the wise men of Greece.

By the way, Plato defined the Soul of Man in ' The Republic' 500 years BC; but you knew that of course.

Suggest you spend some time in the library. It's the stone building w/the books inside and give the Bible a well deserved rest.

I will stick with the Word of God and let your "jenyus" ridicule it and me until we part company on judgment day.  I will be spending eternity in paradise because I choose Jesus over a bunch of pagans who knew so much about physical things.  Your ridicule of my beliefs shows your eternity and I will not be intimidated into joining you!!!!!
