Gentlemen,
When I read the story I was, at first, alarmed that social media was apparently being used to implement and advance voter fraud. But, as I read on, I began to change my mind.
The authors of the story are using very subtle tactics to influence the reader into thinking (assuming) that using social media to influence other people is, somehow, automatically bad and should, somehow, be stopped. Their {subtle] contention is that those social media 'contributors' are part of a highly organized effort to influence elections.
BUT, I noticed that all of the 200 social media "influencers" cited in the story are all conservatives and Trump supporters. So, I began to question the underlying motive of bringing this story to our attention. Could that motive be to get us to ignore anything and everything they say or post? Could they be trying, in a very subtle way, to get us to rely exclusively on the MSM for the "truth"?
As a retired cop, I always look beyond the message as presented and look for the hidden agenda. It's there if you look for it.
There are three kinds of lies, "lies", "damnable lies", and "statistics". The story's authors throw lots of charts and graphs at the reader in an attempt to "crediblize" their conclusions. It didn't work on me!
This story was obviously written to undermine the real credibility of social media discourse. In short, the authors are playing to the old saying, "Believe nothing you hear and little of what you see" -- BUT BELIEVE US! Yeah, right!
The plain fact of the matter is that Trump and his supporters NEVER receive fair and honest reporting from the MSM, instead going around the MSM to social media -- AND THE LEFT HATES IT!
This is an obvious attempt to influence the 2020 election by undermining the only outlet Trump and his supporters have -- SOCIAL MEDIA.
The evidence is that the authors, in true Leftist and Democrat fashion, MINIMIZE actual instances of REAL voter fraud, especially in close races. They want the reader to conclude that voter fraud is not "REALLY" a serious issue that we need to worry about ("Nothing to see here; just move along") instead subtly attacking those who KNOW it is a serious issue and try to point it out.
On a related note, isn't it interesting that Mr. Gillespie (R), the apparent winner in North Carolina's 9th Congressional District, has called for (and been granted) a new election after charges surfaced that ONE of his workers MAY have tampered with absentee ballots? Isn't it interesting that, whenever a Democrat is accused (with almost overwhelming evidence) of voter fraud, the Democrat Party and MSM circle the wagons to defend the fraudulent outcome and the fraudulent "winner" is certified? Ain't it Grand?
