Citizens Dedicated To Preserving Our Constitutional Republic
There are many people, some who erroneously call themselves conservatives, panting at the idea of and calling for a Constitutional Convention as a resolution to the dilemma of politicians ignoring and violating the current document. What those poor, demented fools don't understand, despite my numerous attempts to enlighten them, is that the ruling class political elitists will either abolish the current document altogether, which is the most likely outcome, or continue to ignore any restraints on their power. Power hungry despots, if the Article V idea were to succeed, will only continue the treasonous actions they currently engage in because they hold We the People and the idea of God-given rights to be absurd at the best and dangerous to their absolute power at worst. Tyrants like barak obama, harry reid, nancy pelosi, mitch mcconnell, and their henchmen see themselves as better, smarter, and more deserving of power than the "unwashed masses" of peasants called We the People and will simply ignore any addendums an Article V would put on them. The only solutions to our current situation are a return to the Judeo/Christian precepts the nation was founded on or a full blown rebellion as our founders went through, and that rebellion on the doorstep.

Jack,
Originally until the 14th, the only laws the Constitution regulated among the States were clearly defined in the main body. Even the Bill of rights was not considered to apply to the states, just as restrictions on the Federal Government. Citizenship was originally primarily by way of the states and then as a secondary inclusion as citizens of the union of states.
The constitution clearly states the federal law is the supreme law from its inception. Before the 14th amendment, there was little cause to challenge any state laws. Once the 14th amendment was adopted that clearly defined a citizen, made it clear that the states were now restricted how they could treat each citizen and that every citizen was a citizen of the United States of America who happens to reside in said state.

No argument from me on that one! Excellent post by the way!
Best Pro Constitutional speech ever...This lady also mentions article V.............................
Ok I will bite...White Rabbit.....I am intrigued, tell us what you know! Since the topic of this forum is about Art V, I think that would be a good starting point…… Knowledge is always a good thing!
Article V
The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.
The wording of Art V is `cut and dried’ ….IMO. The process and intent was to protect the minority from the majority. The Founder knew they were creating a majority at the National level, a POWER that would exceed any State and quite possibly the accumulative (majority) POWER of many States. The Founders understood this Power of the majority and they knew they had to create a system in which these Powers could be checked. The US Constitution is the governing document of this system and the ratification of this document by the majority, insured the minority an outlet from which their voices could be heard. This outlet at the National level is Art V of the US Constitution.
I love article V. ..The problem is, we need our politicians to love it. Career politicians will not use it. They want big government.Look how the polling is going in this election cycle. Not one in the top is a constitutionalist.. Ted says he is, but that is only for selfish career gains.You need constitutional elected officials to use Article V.
Article V has been used on the Federal level and to the benefit of the Federal Government in all but one amendment after the Bill of rights. So, it's not the Federal Government (Congress) that needs to be persuaded to use it, it's the State Legislatures that need to be educated and convinced that they need to petition Congress for an Article V convention. When the states petition for one two things happen;
1. Congress must call it.
2. Congress will not be the ones to propose amendments.
Everything else is the same including;
The delegates must agree on the specific wording of any proposed amendments.
The proposed amendments must be sent to congress and Congress must formally send them to all 50 states for ratification. (recently there has been a 7 year deadline for ratification of any amendment or it becomes void).
38 states must vote to ratify any proposed amendments or they won't become law.
Many States have adopted and enacted legislation that controls how their delegates are picked, and what their delegates are allowed to propose or agree to proposals from other states, the State Legislatures being the final authority on agreement to proposals and proposal language. Delegates are allowed to disagree on proposals within the guidelines set by the state legislatures. (Google Indiana model AV Legislation at;
M, I am sure you know I will jump on board with helping Article V . It is the tool needed to get the Constitution healthy.My plight is to get as many eyes open to the truth of matters. Article V I am sure is known by Men like Ammon Bundy. People are to emerged in their own selfish agendas. People have to get their heads wrapped around the truth of the problems we face, and gain confidence that Constitutionality is the way to fix everything. The selfish division in our Country prevents that from happening.Politicians must adhere to the constitution or be held accountable if they do not.
I must add that Rand Paul is the only Candidate who will use Article V properly.
Kevin,
The Congress has never had a problem with using Article V. In fact they used it to their advantage and to the states and peoples disadvantage 16 times already. to do what we need to do, it will take State Legislatures petitioning Congress for an Article V amendment proposal convention. Again I'll say it, The States use the same Article V that Congress does. The only difference is when States call for one Congress must convene it and then step back allowing the States to take control of what is proposed.
Therefore, with the exception of the 27 amendment not including the Bill of Rights, ONLY CONGRESS has used it! Rand is a member of Congress is he not?
We don't want Congress to call for an Article V on their own because then we would not have the ability to propose amendments, and would have to settle for more Congressional usurpation of the States and Peoples powers.
