[BREAKNG] Mass shooting reported in California Police in San BernardinoI , California, are responding to a deadly shooting incident at the Inland Regional Center, a social services facility. Eyewitness reports claim that as many as three shooters in masks and body armor may be behind the attack. At press time, ABC 7, the network’s Southern California affiliate, was reporting 12 confirmed fatalities. Other media outlets have claimed the number of casualties could be as high as 20. Patriot Ozzie, Would you explain what the current gun laws are in Australia and how they came to be? That could be a lesson for us here in the States.

In a nutshell, guns are restricted to gun clubs, hunters, farmers and of course the police forces. There is screening of and strict rules for all those gun owners/users. There is a lot of paperwork and red tape to buy a long gun. For hand guns I'm not sure about the difficulty because we hardly ever see them in the hands of ordinary citizens, only the police and criminals

Strict gun control came about mainly because of two massacres, one in '87 and one in '96 at a time when the change over to pc globalization was well under way. There was and still is many suicides (high suicide rate was another reason for gun control), marriage breakups and many people found it difficult to cope with the influx of new and changing laws as per Family Law Court, Environmental, mass Immigration, Economic and just about everything else you can think of. Without strong family ties, values and morals, our society is now divisive and somewhat confused especially now with the government's, both left and right, almost tolerable attitude to islamic terrorists who somehow obtain guns (one received his gun in a mosque from a fellow muslim then went out and shot a police station employee who was out in the street at the time) "We are safe" they keep saying


IMO a breakdown in societal morality is the real reason for calls for gun control. Some people are loose canons with personal bitches and take it out on unsuspecting citizens, and just lately it's been with fists and knives. Gun control does very little to stop crime, but bringing society back to the morality of the 10 Commandments would solve most problems I would imagine

This link paints a rosy picture, but there's been some terrible crimes down here since gun control and as a result of our societal breakdown, babies and kids get murdered, two women a week are killed or murdered, elderly people killed and robbed, dead bodies found in garbage bins ... self defense is not allowed as a reason for purchasing a gun ... and it's the very reason you need one

Sounds like you should change your politicians with ones that would take a more active stand on allowing people the means of self defense. You could also ask them what they think would have happened to Australia had those gun rules been in effect at the start of WWII with the Japanese closing in? People may have forgotten the fighting that went on. My Father was there with the US Army Air Corps in early 1942. During that time and before the allies started taking back the Pacific he was injured in a Japanese bombing attack and was sidelined for two months to recover, before setting out on the Island hopping campaign to drive the Japanese back to their home Islands.

Also, thank You for the detailed commentary on your Gun Laws and the problems they have caused.
