Citizens Dedicated To Preserving Our Constitutional Republic

American Clean Energy And Security Act of 2009 ("ACES") Bill

Most Americans know this bill as a “cap-and-trade” bill for the purpose of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and global warming by creating a system of pollution permits that energy companies must buy before releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. What does this mean for you? MORE TAXES and higher utility bills!

Those energy companies won't pay more for permits... YOU WILL! This also creates a situation where government could control a household’s consumption of energy, by allowing the government to restrict or "cut-off" a household’s utilities when the government decides you've used too much energy.

Saving the Planet or Saving Profits through Cap-and-trade?

The other problem is that this bill creates a market within a market. It will create high prices for consumers and BIG profits for businesses. Profits? Who profits you ask?

Companies would be allocated "right-to-emit credits" based on how much greenhouse gas they currently emit. This proposal would establish an emissions trading system that would permit companies that emit fewer greenhouse gases than they are allowed to SELL the excess portion to companies that exceed their allowances. This will not reduce greenhouse gases! Simply put, the bill allows for companies that emit less carbon to make money by selling their cap. Do not be swindled America. Bill 2454 is not about saving the planet. It is about controlling our lives and making a profit in the process!

Write your Representatives and tell them to vote NO on Bill HR 2454!

Feel free to copy/paste and edit any part of the letter below to suit your needs. (My full name was used in sending the letter, but was removed for internet circulating purposes.)

Senator,

Enough is enough. Creating and making laws to suit an agenda and not for the good of the people has divided the government from the very people who give them their power. Politicians seem to have forgotten for whom they work. It is time for the politicians who want to remain in power to serve the people and protect the Constitution as they were elected and took an oath to do.

It is increasingly evident that our government has become a power all its own and continues to create more power for themselves through "pay to play" politics, gutting the Constitution, and attempting to create citizens who are dependent on government. The United States government is currently invading America and her citizens. Your duty, as Senator, is to protect and defend the US Constitution from enemies both foreign and DOMESTIC.

The Constitution stands directly in the path of those trying to obtain power above that of the people. It only makes sense that those in power would see it be dismantled or changed to suit them. This is where you must play your role as Senator. You must keep these domestic enemies from obliterating the Constitution. You, Senator, are on the front line of a war being waged on American citizens and our Constitution.

Any and all bills that would allow the government more control over its citizens is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Do not be a part of the problem, be a part of the solution - vote NO on Bill HR 2454.

Sincerely,

Guardian

The following letter was received from Tennessee (R) Senator Bob Corker in response to the above letter:
(my name has been removed for internet circulating purposes.)

Dear Mrs. ----,

Thank you for taking the time to contact my office to share your concerns about
climate change legislation. Your input is important to me, and I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts.

As you know, I did not support the climate change legislation considered in the Senate in the previous Congress. Instead of being about climate security, and instead of being about something that really drives us toward using technologies that would cause our country to be energy secure, this bill in fact ended up being about money. This bill would have doled out trillions of dollars to various industries and organizations and forced hard-working Americans to pay more for gasoline, more for electricity, more for food, and more for everything they buy.

I didn't think it was possible, but the Waxman-Markey climate bill appears to be even more problematic than the climate bill considered in the Senate last spring. I don't know of many special interests that don't receive a pay-off in this legislation, and if it comes to the Senate floor in this form, I'll vote against it.

It is likely the Senate will return to climate change in some form later this fall, and I appreciate your concerns regarding a cap and trade or carbon tax bill. I assure you I will continue to remain an active participant in this debate, and the insight you've given here will certainly help my staff and me prepare for future discussions on this issue.

Thank you again for your letter. I hope you will continue to share your thoughts with me.

Sincerely,

Bob Corker
United States Senator
