The Dutch Tulip Bubble of 1637
The later part of the 20th century saw its share of odd financial bubbles. There was the real-estate bubble, the stock market bubbles, and the dot com bubble, just to name a few. In each instance of price inflation people paid exorbitant amounts for things that shouldn’t have been worth anything like the going price. And each time people stood around afterwards and said “What were we thinking?”
One has to believe that the same thought occurred to the Dutch in the 17th century when they settled down after their bout with tulipomania, wherein the humble tulip bulb began to sell for prices to make New York Realtors blanch.
As much as the tulip is associated with Holland, it is not native there. Rather it was introduced in 1593 by a botanist named Carolus Clusius, who brought it from Constantinople. He planted a small garden, intending to research the plant for medicinal purposes. Had Clusius’s neighbors been morally upright, the tulip might still be a rare exotic in the gardening world. Instead they broke into his garden and stole some of his bulbs in order to make some quick money, and in the process started the Dutch bulb trade

I wonder if those of us that live long enough will look back one day and say these are the people that began the war that killed so many, this is what began the real insanity.
There are a lot of insane people to varying degrees in this country today. Those of us that tend toward sanity having managed to retain the ability to think clearly at least most of the time can realize how fragile this system has become and continues.
The flood taught us a lot, though it may prove useful somehow, it mainly humbled me, the universe it seems really does not tolerate hubris. Pick your metaphor, things are close.
Three state election agencies have confirmed cyber attacks linked to Department of Homeland Security IP addresses, according to reports from WSB-TV in Atlanta. According to the report, agencies in Georgia, West Virginia, and Kentucky have all reported numerous attacks on their networks which were subsequently traced back to DHS addresses.

Brings to mind why some of us complained so loudly when that department was created.
My guess is the DHS was hacked and someone was ghosting in that IP range, just using DHS as a tool, but that is a wild assed guess with no more standing than this Russian thing.
But there is method to it in that everything else in that government has been hacked...

I dont think it is even debatable that McCarthy was wrong about the majority of those he accused.
He was wrong because he became a greater enemy of the Constitution than the communists he attacked and eventually after much damage was done he was disgraced.

But yeah that actually explains a lot.
Barack Obama is staying in D.C. to launch a four-year attack on Donald Trump with a war chest he is currently building. At the same time, right-wing news will be squashed under the jackboot of the hard left.
Ed Klein told Mike Hegseth of Fox News that Barack Obama is setting up a shadow government to undermine Trump from Inauguration Day and we shouldn’t be fooled by Obama claiming he’s smoothing Trump’s transition.
