Unfortunately, with the low standards set since 1900 the definition of "Honest Politician" now means one that stays bought. We need to clean this mess up ASAP!!!
marrand, it would take 10's of millions to buy off a presidential candidate. Trump would never spend that amount of money or does he have it to spend. As to the lies Trump has made in the campaign, I might just say everything that comes out of his mouth is a stretch of the truth. But just to mention a couple, he will negotiate better deals with China. Trump has never negotiated with the China government power brokers. He may have had some deals with a few business deals in China, but they were businessmen. A well-negotiated business deal is in the eyes of both parties. Each party has their own set of objectives they wish to accomplish from the deal. You can't measure who got the better deal until you know what those objectives were. Trump is going to put Americans back to work. Interesting, he has never run a successful business. Most of the businesses he is involved with today he has no managerial responsibility, only the use of his name is his participation in the business. The few businesses that he still has some management control he is leveraged to the max. His true net worth today is not much different than what he inherited from his father in todays' dollars.
No Kevin I have never been a politician.....I can only say I have been an active GOP member in a half dozen states that I have lived in the past 40 years and have learned first hand how the game of politics is played.
marrand, in my opinion there is a big difference between bragging and lying. Bragging would be like saying I can shoot par golf when you have done it once or twice in your lifetime. Lying would be when you say you can shoot par golf when you have never done it in your life. That is why I claim Trump stretches the truth to be considered a lie. He claims he can do something that he has never demonstrated he can do it successfully. Net worth is very difficult to calculate on personal holdings, but there is not a reputable accounting firm who would value Trump's net worth near 10B, now even if he claimed the value the accounts valued his assets at, it would still be a lie because even the accounts error on the high side and he knows that.
Trump has been manipulating the public ever since he has hooked up with his father's business. I give him credit because he has a knack for misleading people. He has made a nice living for many years fooling people and he is working his charms on the conservative voters right now. No matter what happens with respect to Trumps venture into politics, those that invest hope in his candidacy will end up being losers and Trump will end this show smiling from ear to ear.
I don't believe a word Hillary or any politician tells me any more than I believe what Trump would tell me as a politician or in a business setting. Also, as far as rating the ability of our top government officials negotiating a good trade deal would be difficult for an outsider to judge, As I mentioned before deals are made with key objectives in mind. Our government officials have sensitive information about the other country that they feel is critical to gain as part of this deal. Because we are not privy to such information it would be very difficult for us to judge the value of the deal.
@jack ludwig: "I don't believe a word Hillary or any politician tells me any more than I believe what Trump would tell me". Does that mean you consider both to be liars? Guess we will continue to disagree: I think Hillary is a liar, but Trump is not.
Next, rating ability to negotiate too difficult for an outsider to judge. Oh well, so sorry you had problem with judging the one example I gave you about Obama, China and global warming. I found it easy.
Ok, you don't want Trump as GOP nominee. I understand. But then, name one Republican who can stand up to the attacks by Hillary and the liberal media? As I see it, Carson is your only alternative. All others wilt when reporters try to destroy them.
After the first Democratic debate Tuesday night, it’s clear the anti-gun, environmentalist, crazy wing has taken over the Democrat asylum.
In an interview with The Hill, Donald Trump warned of a stock market bubble on the verge of bursting, and slammed the Dodd-Frank financial regulations, which were roundly praised by the 2016 Democrats during their first primary debate on Tuesday night. Trump called Dodd-Frank “terrible” and said he would “absolutely” repeal it as President.
A spokesman for House Ways and Means Committee Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) confirms yet again that despite all the donor class and political establishment wooing, Ryan is not running to replace outgoing Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) as Speaker of the House.
The Speaker list of possible candidates is looking like the Republican Presidential List.... there be a heard of them!!!!!!!
The Dems are snickering, the Press is on a wild watch fest.... And Boehner's idea of retiring is looking pretty thin... at least for a while. All this makes my hair hurt!!!!!
With serious business looming to do the jobs they were voted in to do, heaven only knows how all this will go.
Do we get again a Continuing Res, a somewhat long term fix(if there is such a thing ), Obama's pen dripping ink as we speak, and no real change in the belly of the DC beast. No wonder Trump is racking up some sizable support.
"Scotty, beam me up!!!!!!" it's crazy down here!!!!!!
I agree BD, it is crazy down here and will probably get crazier before there is some sanity. It is going to be a bumpy ride for sure.
