Clinton unveiling gun-control plan

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton is expected to unveil new gun-control measures on Monday in the wake of the mass shooting at a community college in Oregon.

Clinton's gun-control proposal, to be announced in New Hampshire, will include closing the so-called gun show loophole, potentially through executive action, and allow victims of gun violence to sue weapon manufacturers by proposing a repeal of legislation, according to reports.

The measures come as Clinton seeks to shore up support among those on the left from rivals amid a surge for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who has yet to unveil a gun-control plan. Sanders continues to lead Clinton in the Granite State, according to a poll released over the weekend.

Another Democratic candidate, former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley, on Sunday touted a package of gun-control measures passed during his tenure and called on the two candidates leading the Democratic field to adopt initiatives on the national level.

Clinton called for new action on gun control following last week's shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore., which left nine people dead. The latest mass shooting has led to President Obama and many Democrats to renew calls for action.

"What is wrong with us, that we cannot stand up to the NRA and the gun lobby, and the gun manufacturers they represent?" Clinton asked last week after the shooting.

Many leading Republican presidential candidates have pushed back on calls for gun control following last week's shooting, instead focusing on issues such as mental health.

John Boehner

Chaos in Congress: House of Representatives a Mess as Boehner Chart...

At first, it seemed as if his heir apparent House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy would easily ascend into the speakership and that House Majority Whip Steve Scalise would easily replace McCarthy, and Chief Deputy Whip Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) would easily ascend into the Whip’s role. Now, one of that seems easy or likely as the growing conservative wing of the conference—emboldened by Boehner’s resignation—is demanding a series of structural reforms to the way business in done in Congress rather than just a reshuffling of the deck in leadership post-Boehner.

Yeah just the way they like it!

Unfortunately you are correct. :(

Ted Cruz sees slow and steady path to 2016 presidential victory

Greg Nash

Ted Cruz is playing a slow and steady campaign but for the firebrand Texas senator, that doesn’t translate into being quiet.

In the past week alone, he has stolen supporters from fellow candidate Rand Paul, won the rousing support of evangelicals and had to be shut down by Senate leaders for trying to complicate efforts on a short-term funding extension with a protest vote against Planned Parenthood funding.

That reflects Cruz's efforts to try to emerge as the consensus anti-establishment candidate if and when the top three outsider candidates, and his biggest rivals, peter out.

Rolling out Libertarian supporters who previously backed Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul's father in his presidential bids is part of Cruz's aim to go after his rivals on their home field.

“Our theory has always been that you need to crush your bracket first in order to advance,” Rick Tyler, a Cruz spokesperson, said, comparing the primary slog to the annual college basketball tournament.

"We don't want to break out...we are moving slow and steady."

Vice President Joe Biden has had the Democrats on the edge of their seats over his decision whether or not to run for president, and now, insiders close to the Veep are saying he may decide in the next week.

They are desperate for sure if they are going to go for old foot in mouth.

Bumbling Joe .

Obama Showing Why Outsiders Are Thriving in 2015

In this year of the political outsider, the ultimate political insider — President Barack Obama — is reminding us how politics has always been practiced. And how it shouldn’t be practiced any more.

Ben Sasse: Next House Speaker Should Be Outsider Arthur Brooks

In a series of Twitter posts, freshman United States Senator Ben Sasse is proposing the next House Speaker should not be a member of Congress, but rather come from outside the traditional realm of cautious politicians with bad approval ratings.

This could be a REALLY good thing or a REALLY bad thing!
