23-year-old ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT Carlos Montano drove drunk and killed Benedictine nun Denise Mosier. The accident also caused injury to two other sisters.

Montano is not only an illegal, he is an illegal who has been in trouble with the law for many years... but Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) wouldn't detain him!

Judicial Watch President Tom Filton says "An innocent person lost her life because local police officers and immigration officials couldn't be bothered to enforce and obey the law. This tragedy is a direct result of the Obama administration's decision to undermine the enforcement of federal immigration laws."

The Department of Homeland Security is Weakening Immigration Enforcement by restricting the authority of State and local law enforcement agences in their work to curb illegal immigration.

The DHS has turned back to a flawed policy called "catch and release." This involves catching an illegal immigrant, scheduling a deportation hearing, and then releasing the illegal back into society. In reality, most illegal immigrants never show up for their hearings and are free to live in the United States again until they are (maybe) caught again.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS CAUSING OUR COUNTRY GREAT HARM!

CRIME It is a criminal act to enter the United States of America illegally, so illegal aliens have already committed a felony by their presence here. Unfortunately, many go on to commit other crimes against Americans. Illegal aliens commit over 2,000 murders each year, a number that represents three times greater participation than their proportion of the population. When illegals are arrested, tried and incarcerated, American taxpayers pay for that. FAX CONGRESS and tell them, "no more!"

ECONOMY Legal Americans can't find jobs, because they are competing against illegal aliens for work. Bear Stearns believes 4-6 million jobs have gone underground to illegals. Think about the economic situation today, and the suffering you've seen friends and family go through. Legal Americans can't find a job while they are competing with illegals for work. Our law abiding business owners are put at a serious disadvantage compared to those who break the law. Legitimate businesses suffer when forced to compete with the low prices and cheap labor of competitors who employ illegals. FAX CONGRESS and stand up for those who obey the law!

NATIONAL DEFENSE Our elected officials are supposed to be protecting us, but criminals and terrorists are crossing our borders every day. The federal government is making it difficult or impossible for our border agents to do their jobs and prevent illegal aliens from entering the United States. This is deplorable! As the War on Terror continues, and now as the Mexican drug war crosses into this country and terrorizes cities on our southern border, national defense should be a top priority for our Congress... EDUCATION Illegal immigration is eroding our educational system and "dumbing down" our schools. The average illegal immigrant is very poorly educated. An increase in class sizes and a greater push toward a bilingual classroom have eroded educational quality in America. Also, the cost of education has greatly increased since schools are facing the demands of educating immigrants. In California, during the 2004-2005 school year, $7.7 billion was spent on educating the children of illegal immigrants, and this amounted to 13% of the 2004-05 education budget. FAX CONGRESS and tell them to strengthen our schools!

HIGHER TAXES Forty percent of households headed by illegal aliens receive some type of welfare, (in New York the rate is 49% and in California, 48%), compared to 19% of households headed by native-born citizens. Americans are subsidizing these benefits through higher taxes, both at the local and the federal level. FAX CONGRESS and tell them we can no longer afford illegal immigration!

Obama is weakening immigration enforcement! It is restricting the authority of state and local law enforcement agencies in their work to curb illegal immigration. They are dismissing or refusing to prosecute whole categories of illegal aliens for removal and easing off of worksite enforcement. DHS has also turned back to "catch and release," which means when an illegal is caught, they are scheduled for a deportation hearing and then released back into society. You guessed it; most illegals never show up for their hearings and are free to live in the United States until they are (maybe) caught again. Congress must insist the administration enforce our immigration laws. FAX THEM!

Obama is not emphasizing workplace enforcement! The Obama administration has significantly reduced the arrests of illegal workers at job sites. It is important to hold employers accountable, and even more important to send a signal to would-be illegal entrants that it will be difficult to find a job here in America. Congress must insist the administration enforce illegal immigrant employment laws and it must insist employers verify citizenship before employing workers. FAX THEM!

Obama is pushing for de facto amnesty! Obama is misusing his powers to gain amnesty for millions of illegals. The DREAM Act did not pass Congress, yet Obama ordered ICE not to deport most student illegal aliens. Also, Obama is using the federal government to sue the State of Arizona and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, because they dared to enforce immigration law. Congress must examine the legality of Obama's actions. FAX THEM!
