We The People USA

Citizens Dedicated To Preserving Our Constitutional Republic

I received permission to publish this idea from a member of another site, Joe Comfort is his name. When asked how to get Congress to act on Illegal Immigrants and Immigration Reform, this is what he replied ;

" by Joe Comfort

You ask: "how do we get the congress critters to act...?  That, in my view, it the correct question!

As I see it, currently, the vocal minority now emphasizes "take the action I WANT now or we will primary you to get someone who will do what we want"!  The operative part of that cry is " the action I want"!  That is the part of the cry that creates the impasse.

Personally, I don't think citizenship should be on the table at all.  Legal worker status is my objective, not citizenship!  Legal status allows the undocumented people to come out of the closet without fear of deportation!  It allows them to work openly (thus providing them the income to live; getting them off the dole; and providing revenue to federal, state and local coffers!)  As I see it, it allows them to live and participate in our local communities as any other citizen WITHOUT giving them the ability to vote!

I believe most Democrats and Republicans would vote for legal workers status without citizenship.  In my view, all sides (D's, R's and undocumented) will walk away as winners without any one side walking away as a loser.  The real benefit is to the American society!

This is the message that needs to get to Congress!

  The problem is that there are too many that advocate wholesale deportation (won't work!); Too many that advocate locking up employers (won't work!;

Too many that advocate treating undocumented as criminals (won't work!);

Too many that see undocumented people as a voting block (won't work!) and not enough people that truly want a solution rather than a political issue!

You advocate the TP needs to move itself to the center of the political spectrum and take a definite stand.  I completely agree!  However, I see no evidence that anyone is making an effort to make that happen!  That effort happens exponentially - one becomes two, two becomes four, four becomes eight, etc!  You have the forum to make that happen.

Rather than ask for far fetched solutions that make one feel better but are too extreme to address the problem, ask for support to a compromise position!  That won't happen because "compromise" is a curse word to the TP!  Until that mindset changes, nothing will get done and the problem and acrimony will get worse!"

First let me say that Joe is speaking about the Tea Party in General and not about any specific group in it.

I actually think the suggestions Joe has made have a lot of merit and should be considered. If the plan were to be made public, it would place the Progressives between a rock and a hard place because they could not refuse to consider it or they would be labeled as not caring about the plight of the illegals, and were only going to exploit them for their votes. In bringing this to the forum, the Republicans would be seen as the party that cares about the future of immigrants and actually helping them while getting them off the public doles and since they workers could openly work they would be able to ease the burdens on Social Security and Welfare by paying their fair share of taxes.

If you agree with this idea please contact your Congressional Representatives and ask them to propose a bill on this.

I think doing this would solve most of the problems and expense of the Illegal's problem and make them productive members of America while they are here.
