Citizens Dedicated To Preserving Our Constitutional Republic

Yesterday Rush Limbaugh was going over why so-called Conservatives, including politicians and  Bloggers, hate Trump.   I have a different take.   I hope you enjoy it.

There is a very simple reason the above hate Trump -- JEALOUSY, EMBARRASSMENT, AND BEING EXPOSED FOR THE FRAUDS THEY ARE!

Within a very short time Trump has accomplished what all of these "sophisticates" could not or would not do.   It embarrasses them and exposes their collective incompetence and hypocrisy.   In their world it is not only O.K. to lie and cheat (especially to the public and voters), it is EXPECTED!   It's just what they do.

BUT, when Trump actually KEEPS his promises, it exposes them for the lying, incompetent hypocrites they really are, and that's not allowed.

They SAID they wanted tax reform -- Trump did it!

They SAID they wanted to stop the Illegal Invaders -- Trump is doing it!

They SAID they wanted to reduce Federal Regulations -- Trump is doing it!

They SAID they wanted conservative judges and justices -- Trump is doing it!

They SAID they wanted to make inroads into minority voting blocs -- Trump is doing it!

They SAID they wanted trade deals that are good for America -- Trump is doing it!

They SAID they wanted a strong economy -- Trump is doing it!

They SAID they wanted to reduce unemployment -- Trump is doing it!

They SAID they wanted to keep jobs in America -- Trump is doing it!

They SAID they wanted to stop terrorism and kill ISIS -- Trump is doing it!

Trump is doing everything they SAID they wanted to do but were unable or unwilling to do.

It fully exposes their lying incompetence and they are embarrassed by it.   A "rude, crude, lewd, dude" does what their "sophisticated, Inside the Beltway" methods could not or would not do.   They're not embarrassed that he's President' they're embarrassed that he's succeeding and keeping promises, promises that they could not or would not keep.   It makes them look bad.

They don't want him gone because he's bad for America; they want him gone because he's bad for THEM.

THEY ARE JEALOUS AS HELL AND EMBARRASSED TO BOOT!

They call Trump a "bumbling idiot", but Trump is exposing THEM as the bumbling idiots.

If President Trump was assassinated, they would cry their crocodile tears in public and pop champagne corks in private.   Then, it would be back to "business as usual".

Karl Rove, George Will, the Liberal Media, and faux "conservative" bloggers are perfect examples.   They are perennial failures, yet remain favorites of the Elite.   To them, it is O.K. to fail as long as you do it by the "rules" and they get credit.   Trump doesn't play by the rules and sure doesn't give them credit.   That is what angers and embarrasses them.   Bob Dylan said it best, "He knows there's no success like failure, and failure's no success at all".

M, Thomas, and John,

As usual, I have a slightly different take, not that any of our views make any difference now.

First, States Rights was the central issue.   Entwined in that core principle were slavery and taxation -- the 'catalysts" if you will.   The South understood that the North (like the Left today) would not rest until the South was, itself, enslaved to servitude to Northern interests.   The South believed that they could "unjoin" a union they had joined voluntarily.   I think they were right.   Believing that, the South decided to go its own way and secede.

Second, There were many Northerners who couldn't care less if the South seceded.   It was a kind of pacifist movement for lack of a better definition.

Third, The South made a major strategic and tactical blunder when it attacked Fort Sumpter.   If the South had simply established and defended its borders and left the North alone, I seriously doubt that Lincoln would have attacked.   BUT, when the South fired the first shot, the pacifists in the North rallied to the cause of defeating the South.   The South's fate was sealed.

Anyway, just my take.

Oren

Oren, a reflection.

The role Charles Adams played as Lincolns emissary to Whitehall was decisive.

Great Britain was a natural economic and political ally of the South; while hostile to the North because of its protectionism.

Britain's Royal Navy aggregating 1000+ state of the era warships, went where and when it pleased.

Had Adams not been able to persuade Henry Temple (Lord Palmerston) and the Whig leadership who were supported by the British Mercantile Class; to remain neutral; the likelihood that we would have been partitioned is almost a certainty. Consider these realities:

* Britain would have blockaded all the Northern Ports instantly and permanently.

* She had a standing Army exceeding 60,000 regulars in Canada, led by her victorious commanders of the Crimean War.

Such is the way of history.

Oren,

The idea that a State could legally secede from the Perpetual Union actually has some convoluted merit. The Original Articles of Confederation allowed the State to leave the union Provided a;ll the other States agreed to let it go. Since the articles of the Confederation have never been Officially Repealed maybe we can use that ancient but still valid legal precedent to allow all the Socialist States to Secede so we can consolidate the Republic along it's original lines. Not Really, but it's kinda fun to speculate on.

John and Thomas,

I agree with what you both say even when you disagree with each other on minutia and 'definition'.   I forget which Justice said it, but it remains important, "The key to Democracy is a free, open, and vigorous debate".

John, let me expound upon why the Elite hate Trump.   I compare Trump to Jesus in the following way:

Jesus went into the Temple and flipped over the tables of the money-changers who were running their "pay to pray" scheme in conjunction with the Rabbis, the Rabbis getting what amounts to kickbacks.   It so enraged both that they eventually had Jesus crucified.   If Jesus had just wandered in the desert, preaching to the snakes and lizards, no one would have cared.   BUT, he went into the Temple and got right in their faces.   THAT was not to be allowed.

Trump was swept into Washington to essentially do the same thing.   The Media, Lobbyists, and Politicians were working hand in glove for their own, mutual self-interest and power.   Trump has upset everything they have so carefully built over multiple generations.   And he is SUCCEEDING!   That has enraged them.   If Trump had just stayed in New York and made his outrageous comments, no one would have cared.   BUT, he got elected and got right in their faces.   THAT is not to be allowed.

Make sense?

Oren

Labeling the wisdom of the Ancients as minutiae is...............embarrassing.

Greece and Rome, who created the legacy of Western Civilization, endured

for some 1300 years, while we are a tad past 200!

But we are the greatest. Why of course!

----------------------------

As for Trump, voted for him and wish him well but that's all. Some thoughts:

* Sun-Tzu advised that to be victorious, a leader must know himself

before he can know and defeat his enemies.

* Heraclitus asserted that character is destiny.

* Machiavelli told us; it's far more important the ruler be feared rather than loved.

The likes of Madison, Von Bismarck, Gladstone, among many,

understood this wisdom but Trump remains oblivious, preferring

applause and attention rather than reflection in solitude.

Doubt matters will end well for him.

Hmm..........so you're going to acquaint me w/the error of my ways, are you????

Suggest a re-focusing on the essence of Conservatism is long overdue here.

These reflections are culled from Russell Kirk, author of the "Conservative Mind"; a disciple of Edmund Burke, T.S.Eliot, Irving Babbitt and a colleague of Wm. F. Buckley.

Firstly, the Natural Law, uncovered through reason, involves concepts of morality familiar to all eras of mankind and is derived from human nature rather than any rules within a culture/society. It's advocates include Aristotle, Aquinas; among others of the wisest.

As an example, the Commandment,"Thou Shall not kill" is derivative of the principle that life is vital for the survival of the species since its contrary insures the destruction of the species.

Similarly, Conservatism is a body of enduring principles governing human conduct involving attitudes, behaviors and sentiments about human nature; independent of ideology, politics, economics or religion.

For Conservatives, there exists an array of Principles that govern the behavior of mankind; among them:

* the family unit is the bedrock of civilization.

* custom, convention and continuity are hallmarks of stability within culture/society.

* prescription recognizes the precedent of matters agreed by timeless usage, as superior to current whim.

* prudence requires that decisions taken now be measured against its consequences in the future.

* as mankind is created unequal by the soul, variety must be encouraged as a catalyst for creativity.

* since man is not a perfectible being in this world; tolerance must be encouraged/promoted.

* freedom and private property are linked as catalysts of personal responsibility.

* collective non-voluntarism is inferior to and destructive of communal voluntarism.

* the coercive impulse within the nation-state must be curtailed in order for it to survive.

* permanence and change in culture/society must be reconciled.

As the Bishop of Chartres asserted in the 12th century;"We see as far as we do, only because we stand on the massive shoulders of the Giants of Antiquity." Indeed!!!

As for our current msm weenies, they wouldn't know a Principle of Conservatism from a cinder block!!!

Granted Thomas, everything is an extension and addition to what has come before. That's the way the world works. Knowledge is cumulative. To put it in perspective;

The only things that cause a null area are major catastrophes like the burning of the Alexandrine Library with the attendant loss of knowledge. That was speculated as the infant Catholic Church setting the tenets of their faith as supreme dogma and eliminating the competition.Consider the theory the it was Hypatia ( a Hellenistic Neoplatonist philosopher, astronomer, mathematician, and inventor) that first postulated the earth revolving around the sun, and the mechanics that caused the seasons.Did Galileo find old writings that led him to postulate it again? Everything we have now is an extension of the past, and 2000 years from now what they have will be an extension of what we are now doing. Think of where we would be right now had Hero thought of a steam powered reciprocating cylinder to go with his Aeolipile.
