On Saturday, President Donald Trump suggested that Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) needed to resign from his position after a new report from the Secret Service revealed that allegations he made against Navy Rear Adm. Ronny Jackson had no factual basis.
In a tweet, Trump wrote: "Secret Service has just informed me that Senator Jon Tester’s statements on Admiral Jackson are not true. There were no such findings. A horrible thing that we in D.C. must live with, just like phony Russian Collusion. Tester should lose race in Montana. Very dishonest and sick!"
Tester made the allegations in an interview with CNN earlier this week which ultimately led to Jackson withdrawing his name from consideration for the position.

Correspondents Dinner Host Hurls Vile Attack At Trump's Press Secretary.
4/29/18 Daily Wireby: Emily Zanotti
Many reporters — even those typically associated with left-leaning media outlets — were left shocked and aghast at comedian Michelle Wolf's bizarre and mean-spirited White House Correspondents' Dinner monologue, after the feminist joked about abortion, CNN's Jake Tapper, and White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders' weight and appearance as Sanders looked on from her seat at the head table.
Wolf, looking straight at Sanders, said she was "excited" that Sanders "was finally able to go to prom," and then excoriated the press secretary for her makeup, choice of outfit, and weight. “She burns facts & then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye. ‘Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s lies.’ It’s probably lies," Wolf said as Sanders looked on.
How very feminist, right?
Although the joke appeared to earn Wolf the respect of figures like CNN's Brian Stelter, and progressive icon Joan Walsh — who compared the incident to Stephen Colbert's 2005 "roast" of then-President George W. Bush without understanding that to be a "roast" the subject has to be in on the joke — most WHCD attendees were turned off by Wolf's nastiness, even those reporters for whom Trump is a top target.
I wrote this week about the decency deficit, citing Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
I was not at WHCD last night but sounds like the decency deficit was on full display in criticism of her. Attacks on looks have no place. They are not funny.— Ruth Marcus Apr/29/18

BREAKING NEWS: GOP Congressman Resigns.
4/27/18 by: AAN
Representative Pat Meehan announced today that he is resigning – effective immediately – from Congress following allegations he sexually harassed a former staffer.
The Philidelphia-area Republican, Pat Meehan said he intends to repay the $39,000 he owes in taxpayer dollars used to settle his harassment case.
Roll Call has Meehan's official statement:
“While I do believe I would be exonerated of any wrongdoing, I also did not want to put my staff through the rigors of an Ethics Committee investigation and believed it was best for them to have a head start on new employment rather than being caught up in an inquiry,” Meehan said in a statement. “And since I have chosen to resign, the inquiry will not become a burden to taxpayers and committee staff.”
Meehan’s resignation will take effect Friday. Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf has 10 days to declare a special election, which must occur at least 60 days after the governor’s announcement. The nominees for a special election are chosen by party leaders, rather than through a direct primary election.
A competitive race is already underway for the open seat in the Philadelphia suburbs, which is now favorable to Democrats after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court imposed a new congressional map.
Roll Call's political prognosticators rate the race Likely Democratic.
Olympic Medalist Files Suit Against Mexifornia Over Bullet Control.
8:30 am Apr/29/18 by Tom Knighton
Mexifornia thought they were onto something. Since they can’t seem to control guns, even though they really keep trying to, they decided to control bullets instead.
After all, what could go wrong with that.
Well, now the state is staring down the barrel of a lawsuit. It seems that six-time Olympic medalist Kim Rhode takes a bit of exception to the new rules.
The Olympian, who is on the 75-member board of the National Rifle Association, was joined in the lawsuit by its state affiliate, the Mexifornia Rifle & Pistol Association, as well as a number of out of state ammo retailers who can no longer ship their products directly to state resident’s homes under the new rules.
The 31-page lawsuit argues Prop 63, which Second Amendment advocates characterized as “Gunmageddon,” outlaws direct mail order ammunition sales, puts all transfers of ammo under a “burdensome registration scheme,” imposes costly fees and price increases on bullet sales and mires would-be vendors in piles of Sacramento red tape.
As such, it not only violates the Dormant Commerce Clause by discriminating against interstate commerce but also tramples on the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
Rhode, who made history in 2016 to become the first woman to medal in six straight Olympics, argues she is required to use special competition ammunition sanctioned by her sport’s governing bodies, which she receives from a training facility in Arizona and brings back into the state. She also regularly has ammo sent to her home, range, and coach by sponsors, needed as she fires an average of 800 rounds daily to keep on top of her game.
Now, with Prop 63, both means of obtaining her needed ammunition are illegal.
The law is interfering with Rhode’s ability to do business. She’s the first woman to medal at six different Olympic games, making her something of a sports hero in this country, and Mexifornia’s law directly impacts her ability to continue to compete.
Her alternative is to leave Mexifornia for another state, which is what she might have to do if the state continues to screw with law-abiding gun owners like this.
Rhode is being prevented from training for her sport because of this law. That is indisputable. Anyone with half a brain knows she is being impacted negatively by this law.
Further, while violent crime was predicted to drop in Mexifornia during 2018, none of that is apparently attributed to ammunition restrictions. None.
In other words, the people most likely to be impacted by a law like this are lawful shooters. Criminals aren’t that affected. It’s just over three hours from Los Angeles to Arizona by car. If you’re already willing to shoot people, do you really care about crossing state lines with ammunition?
Again, the only people being hurt are people like Rhode who want to be law-abiding citizens but are thwarted by rules that keep them from doing something they should lawfully be able to do.
But then again, it’s Mexifornia. What do you expect?
Florida County Allows Government Workers With Permits To Carry While Working.
8:30 am Apr/28/18 by Tom Knighton
People who work for county governments sometimes go into some sketchy places. It can be bad enough that I’ve had more than one tell me they wish they could carry a gun for their protection. I mean, it’s not like government workers ever get murdered while working, right? Well, there was that one time. Oh, yeah, then there was that other time.
Okay, so maybe it happens.
The truth of the matter is, county workers have the same God-given right to self-defense the rest of us have. Simply being on the clock shouldn’t change that.
Down in Florida, at least one county seems to get that.
Commissioners in Brevard County voted unanimously Tuesday to allow employees with concealed carry permits to carry guns on the job.
The commission voted 5-0 during their regular Board of County Commissioners meeting.
The new policy takes effect immediately. Any of the county’s more than 2,000 concealed-weapons-permitted employees can now carry a firearm on the job.
“These are law-abiding citizens,” Commissioner John Tobia said. “For one reason or another, this previous county commission had said they don’t deserve the right to have their gun at work. I disagreed with that, and thankfully, this board changed that policy,” Tobia said.
Tobia had previously made the proposal to allow Brevard employees to have guns on the job. It required commissioners to amend a previous policy banning those who did not serve in law enforcement or in security positions.
“To disenfranchise them for a right we provide our public is, I think, patently wrong,” Tobia said.
The policy does not apply to what’s called the county’s five elected “constitutional officers,” including the sheriff, and also doesn’t affect Brevard School District employees.
While it’s a shame school employees are excluded, that has more to do with state law than anything else. If the state doesn’t permit school employees to carry, then the county is out of luck. Nothing they can do.
But in the meantime, a large chunk of the county’s employees are going to be a bit safer going forward. Even if they don’t carry themselves, criminals looking for an easy mark now have to deal with the possibility of the county utility worker being armed, thus making them a less tempting target.
The criminal calculus in Brevard County just shifted.
The truth is, however, that Commissioner Tobia is right. It’s patently wrong to bar employees from carrying a firearm without a damn good reason.
Those working inside the jail don’t carry, but not because they’re not trusted. They don’t carry because they’re surrounded by people who can’t be trusted. As such, it’s smart not to have guns inside jails.
But there’s no reason filling in potholes or dealing with the sewer should be subjected to the same restrictions. None at all. Especially since those duties might take him or her to the worst parts of town. Now, they can deal with threats effectively should they occur. More importantly, though, they now know the county values them as human beings.
It’s a nice thing to feel.
North Korea May Have Already Unleashed a Global Nuclear Disaster.
4/27/18 Source: AAN
As the world prepares for talks aimed at denuclearizing North Korea, scientists report the dictatorship may have already unleashed a worldwide nuclear threat.
"North Korea’s mountain nuclear test site has collapsed, putting China and other nearby nations at unprecedented risk of radioactive exposure, two separate groups of Chinese scientists studying the issue have confirmed," The South China Morning Post reports.
"One group of researchers found that the most recent blast tore open a hole in the mountain, which then collapsed upon itself," the SCMP reports.
Observers have speculated for months the Mount Mantap site at Punggye-ri was near collapse, and there were unconfirmed reports in 2017 of a series of massive tunnel collapses killing hundreds of North Korean laborers.
Those suspicions were heightened when North Korea last week offered to end nuclear tests, raising dictator Kim Jong Un only made the offer because the site could no longer be used.
But the collapse is anything but welcome news that nuclear disaster has been averted.
In fact, it may unleash a global radioactive monster.
"The breakdown created a ‘chimney’ that could allow radioactive fallout from the blast zone below to rise into the air," the SCMP reports. "Radioactive dust could escape through holes or cracks in the damaged mountain, the scientists said."
That radioactive dust could rise into the atmosphere and disperse over a wide area.
"So far we have not detected an abnormal increase of radioactivity levels," Guo Qiuju, a Peking University professor and Chinese government adviser, tells the SCMP.
"But we will continue to monitor the surrounding region with a large [amount] of highly sensitive equipment and analyze the data in state-of-the-art laboratories."
