You CAN purchase P/C's without windows installed. Please visit that website to see how inexpensive a P/C is that DOESN'T have windows installed! For the casual computer user, you will barely even know you are NOT running windows. And, guess what? OpenOffice.org is just like any windows product.....well, not quite.....It is also FREE! I run ubuntu. It is also FREE! That's why the Dell P/C's with ubuntu installed are so inexpensive! Everything you need is already installed.
You may download ubuntu for free, and you can try it out first by running it from a CD before you install it. Check it out here:

Everyone should have a choice of operating systems at retail. Hope everyone will give this a try. I am not sorry I made the switch! I can virtually ignore nearly every virus warning.....come on in......it's GREAT!
