Essays on Liberty- "Private Enterprise Regained"

Yesterday when hunting for a book at our local used book store I stumbled upon a book published in 1952 called, "Essays On Liberty." The book is a series of essays, by different authors, written as pamphlets, chapters of books and articles for magazines. Just to name a few of the notable contributors, Henry Hazlitt, James Madison, Ludwig von Mises, and Dean Russell. Within the book it gives permission to "reprint these essays in whole or in part." Most of these essays are buried on the internet here and there and over the next few weeks I will post the full book chapter by chapter as well as a link to the author’s biography. Most of these essays are very short, no longer than a typical blog, but by the end of the series (if you choose to read them) you will have read a full book. I strongly encourage discussion, and please invite your friends. The first chapter of the book is "Private Enterprise Regained" (6/27/1949) by Henry Hazlitt. Mr. Hazlitt was associate editor of Newsweek and the Editor of Freemen. His most famous work, "Economics in One Lesson" is very highly regarded to this day and used as curriculum in many universities.
