As Congress comes back into session this week, I wanted to give you a quick update on the status of our "Don't Raise the Debt Ceiling" petition drive. As of this morning, we have collected over 155,000 signatures from conservatives like yourself across the country who oppose taking on new debt.

I want to personally extend my appreciation to you for speaking out on this critical issue facing every American. However, I must be honest that to collect the additional 345,000 signatures in the next few weeks to reach our goal of 500,000, we must increase our efforts. Today, I'm urging you to immediately forward this email to 10 of your friends or family and ask them to sign the petition. Your involvement in this issue is absolutely critical as there is enormous pressure building for Members of Congress from both political Parties to support taking on more debt. We must show these Members that a majority of Americans stand in opposition to more spending and more debt that will be passed on to our children and grandchildren.

Yesterday, as I watched a peaceful transition of power from one political Party to another, I was reminded of how blessed we are to live in a free country guided by our Constitution and our shared values and principles. And now that the new Congress is officially in session, and a new majority has taken over the reins, it's time for action. It's time to roll back Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama's extreme and far-reaching legislation. It's time to cut spending, grow our economy, create jobs and reduce our nation's debt. That's why I'm going on the offensive and I need your help! As you know, I have launched a petition drive calling for Members to vote no on raising the debt ceiling. And as a result of your hard work, we've collected nearly 100,000 signatures for our "Don't Raise the Debt Ceiling" petition drive. But, I know with your help, you and I can collect a lot more signatures. Today, I'm issuing a challenge to conservative activists across the nation to help me collect more than 500,000 signatures from Americans in every corner of the country who oppose raising the debt ceiling. With a national debt of $14 trillion, our country cannot afford to dig ourselves deeper into a financial black hole. I know this is no small task, and I'm going to need each and every person receiving this email to pitch in and do their part. Please follow this link to sign the petition right away.
