Hello, My name is ... Vegvari,

I have been working for the State for 8+ years full time, and recently applied for a job as a reserve with the local Sheriff's Office. As a part of the hiring procedure (besides a very detailed back ground investigation) the legal status and eligibility to work was also checked by E-Verify. The result came back as "Tentative Non-Confirmation". My family and I immigrated to the United States in 1982 from Hungary, when I obtained my Social Security Card, along with my Green Card. In 1989 my wife and I became American Citizens in Los Angeles, California. Two years late we both obtained a US passport, which we both have (and renewed) since. We have paid taxes since 1982, never borrowed or otherwise gotten financial help from the Government. After my E-Verify "Non-confirmation" I visited the local Social Security office with my Social Security card, Driver's License, Passport, and the original Naturalization Certificate issued by the US Federal Government. After the lengthy research by SSA clerk I've been told that none of my information can be verified in the system. She asked me in quote; "Would you like to contest? It will be a long process and may not turn out to your favorite" She also informed me that I broke the law by laminating my SS card.(By the way, this issue seemed to be her biggest concern). In the mean time I can't get hired, will probably loose the job opportunity, and might even loose my current job with the State if the SSA reports me as a "non eligible" to work in the US. At this point I am helpless, do not know where to turn, what else can I provide to proof my Citizenship. At the same time I am totally outraged that millions of illegal aliens are floating around in the Country, working illegally, committing crimes, voting, taking advantage of the system, rioting and going un-punished. Yet, an American Citizen is being denied to work because the Federal Government has dropped the ball somewhere. Thank you for taking the time and reading my vent.
