I agree with what you said Catherine, but the Boehner Plan had zero chance of being enacted. Reid originally went along with the plan and backed it until we brought out the truth behind Reid's Backstabbing plan for it. Harry the troll was going to get the plan into the Senate and add as much crap to it as he possibly could so the Republicans would look like uncaring monsters who didn't care of the Country defaulted on the debt so they would be voted out in 2012. Besides the Default date so pushed on the public consciousness was just an arbitrary date that Geithner plucked out of thin air with nothing to back it up as a real deadline.

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt.  People must again learn to work instead of living on public assistance"

Marcus Tullius Cicero

I believe, the giant gas and oil corporations, have a strangle hold on, pretty much on every advanced country.  Every time there is a recession or a war, they are behind them all.

One upon a time, politicians allowed corruption in their ranks.  Gradually, our country's became owned by the very corporations, our politicians took the money from. We all have seen many country's fail, because the corruption takes all the money from the people. They don't have the money to support businesses, so, the people go underground, and the country eventually dies.

As a senior I remember, the giant gas and oil corporations, would hoard all the money.  That stops the cash flow around the globe. This causes a recession.  These recessions have been consistent, since before WW11.

These giant gas and oil company's, thrive on wars.  If there isn't a war on, then an excuse must be found to start one.  They knew Hussein didn't have WMD.  Terrorists are hunted down everyday, without starting wars. But the giant outfits, call all the shots.  These wars destroy the economies of every country involved, they cost trillions for the U.S.  A lot of the U.S. debt goes back to the war, from the time of Bush being in office. Wars are unsustainable.

What bothers me is, as good a job as our young boys are doing. If the troops are pulled out, Afghanistan will go right back into corruption, Muslim against Muslim tribal wars. Women will, again be stoned to death. Female children, again will not be allowed schooling. That's the part that hurts all of us. We don't want any that to happen. To keep control, an army has to stay there.  Canada is now training police and Afghan soldiers, to keep order.  I doubt the Afghans, will be able to do that. The insurgents will murder them too, worse than they are now.

The U.S. is always the first country to offer aid, for natural disasters. They give aid, to country's collapsing monetary systems. Name one country, that has offered aid to the U.S?

Listening to Major Garret interpret the outcome: Boenher wanted to give more concessions, but Reid said 'no, leave that out now, later you can offer that to me after I reject it, to sweeten the deal. We'll go back & forth a bit until I reluctantly agree to pass it. (loosely quoted). YES, we should see about a new speaker.
