Several Helpful Emergency Preparedness Sites

Members;  I have found a terrific book that covers EVERYTHING you would need to know should TSHTF. I purchased mine (online) at Walmart for $8.50, it usually retails for $17. It is "How To Survive The End Of The World As We Know It" by James Wesley Rawles, founder of www. survivalblog.com. Another good site for food ideas, H2O, storage is:www. the epicenter.com      www.drypakindustries.com  has storage items such as desiccants, oxygen absorbers, etc.  My computer has been down for a few days, so I was unable to blog.  One last, for ammo and guns:

The device from Ronco is an as seen on TV thing that dries foods Fruits and vegetables. The Vacuum packer is a food storage device that can be gotten at any Bed Bath & Beyond store. The Nitrogen bottle is just a tank of nitrogen that can be gotten at any place that sells welding gasses and it comes in a variety of sizes, it is only compressed gas.

Thanks for the feedback on food storage.  I already have large plastic crates with covers and plenty of canned foods, pasta, rice, crackers, food bars, etc., but i am not familiar with a Ronco dessicator , vacuum packer or nitrogen bottle. Where does one get these?

Catherine, I checked out the epicenter and their prices are kinda high. You can do basically the same thing with a Ronco dessicator and a vacuum packer. You can buy bulk dried beans, rice, ect. and get a small nitrogen bottle to displace all the oxygen in either a canning jar or a glass storage jar with a latch type glass lidand a cork gasket. that's what we used to use in the forties and fifties to can our foods for use over the winter. after the original outlay for materials you could if I remember the portions correctly make about five times the amouints for the same prices that epicenter charges. Look into it before you buy. Non hybrid seeds and non GMO seeds can be purchased from reputable seed catalogue suppliers for about 1/3 the cost the last time I checked.
