The Doctrine of the Democrats
The strange phenomenon of our time -- one which will probably astound our descendants -- is the doctrine based on this triple hypothesis: the total inertness of mankind, the omnipotence of the law, and the infallibility of the legislator. These three ideas form the sacred symbol of those who proclaim themselves totally democratic.

Interestingly, this is what appears to be happening, today, in the United States of America.
• The people are ignored, even shunned, and ridiculed by the Legislators.
• The assumption that the Law is omnipotent, even if it is in obvious violation of the Constitution for the United States of America.
• The Legislators look down their noses at us, for they know what is right and what is wrong, and only what they believe counts.

France, under the regime that Bastiat described, has become the most communistic country in Western Europe. Had more Frenchmen heeded Bastiat's advice, perhaps that would not be true.
It is time for us to stand, United, against the tyranny that has resulted, as Bastiat described, in what the government prefers to characterize as a democracy -- instead of a Constitutional Republic, as defined by the Founding Fathers. Otherwise, we may soon be deemed a communist nation.
We should be "astounded" by what has happened to a country that was birthed on the concept of Liberty, Freedom, Property, and Happiness.
If you really want to express your feelings to your Legislators, print and sign copies of the You Have Tread On Me - Petition, and give them to those who look down their noses at us; send this information on to all of your friends and encourage them to do likewise -- action that is necessary to correct these evils which have invaded our government."
