Citizens Dedicated To Preserving Our Constitutional Republic

#7
Under One Banner

When the Constitutional Convention completed their work in drafting a Constitution for the United States of America, they realized that it wasn't perfect. There were tradeoffs, which were necessary to obtain agreement to the whole. One of those tradeoffs resulted in a war that pitted brother against brother, but it was a necessary part of the design of the United States of America. It was not perfect, but it was the best that they could produce.
Today, we are facing another tradeoff. There are a number of people who have expressed concern over one or two aspects of the "You Have Tread On Me - Petition". Consequently, they are reluctant to participate, Under One Banner, to effect the changes in government that will put it back to its proper Constitutional role.
Of course, the Petition could be modified to accommodate those few items that are sores to some, and then more could be removed to address the concerns of others. Soon, there would not be sufficient common ground to stand on.
As it stands, it is not perfect, but it is probably the best that we can do in a single petition.
Then, too, there are dozens of petitions circulating on the Internet. Why not just sign one of those -- and be done with it.
The You Have Tread On Me - Petition is the only all encompassing petition available. It does not make unreasonable demands; it does not try to make truth of an incident out of meager facts; it does not order the Congress to cease and desist; nor, does it threaten the Congress with losing their jobs, if they don't comply with it. It simply states what We, the American People, Demand of the government, as our servant, not as our master. That is all that is necessary. If they don't comply, the People will conclude that the Congress no longer serves the People. All of the other objectives listed above are not what a petition is all about, nor do they satisfy the definition of a petition.
There is nothing wrong with the other petitions., They have been written to express the concerns of the people that have signed them. And, they do so. That doesn't mean that it is a contradiction to also petition the government with the You Have Tread On Me - Petition, it simply becomes an enhancement to your efforts. And, it also multiplies the number of petitions received by the Congress. After all, isn't our effort to let them know that We Have Had Enough?
Let your voice be heard by signing and delivering the You Have Tread On Me - Petition to your Representative and Senators
