Unfortunately Politics is for the making of strange bedfellows as the saying goes. It also makes an inordinant amount of money and prestige/power for the politicians. That's why I firmly believe that we need an amendment for a Balanced Budget, and positive term limits for every single elected or appointed government worker.

I get a kick out of these politicians and conservative groups emailing me "to  chip in $25 or more because we have to audit the Fed" or "Please send $50 so I can e-mail you about my bid for the Presidentcy" or "Please send your paycheck so we can fund a new Conservative movement in Congress".  I wonder if Ben Franklin went around asking for money to write the Constitution?
