Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh accused the left and media “doing everything they can to protect” their “agenda” in the aftermath of the deadly mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, on Wednesday.

“I’m telling you, the only thing that explains the Democrat Party on this and the only thing that explains the left and the media and everybody that’s on the left is they know that their political agenda is threatened by these events, and they’re doing everything they can to protect that agenda and make sure that it isn’t damaged,” Limbaugh said. “That is the sole reason for the way they treat these events. Not just this one, but Fort Hood, you name it — whatever act of Islamic Jihad that happens in this country, it cannot ever be stated as such.”

He continued: “It’s just stunning. It has been eye opening. It has been educational, informative, and illustrative to watch the pained efforts of many, primarily in the media and many of their guests to try to tell people this was not what we all know it is. Before anybody knew anything, the left on their blogs and websites were out blaming right-wing Christians.”

Limbaugh then sarcastically asked, “Was Brian Ross trying to find this guy as a member of a Tea Party group in San Bernardino?”

ATF quoted as saying the weapons used in San Bernardino shooting were illegal in California.

California has notoriously strict gun regulations. Reports of "automatic weapons" and even "semi-automatic assault-style weapons" seemed to be disconnected from California's almost uniform prohibition on such firearms.

Another reason the guns in question are important is that the left and its media handmaidens swiftly mobilized to beat the gun control drum...even before the shooters were permanently put out of business.

The media proudly reports that the firearms were purchased legally. They are trying to create the narrative that the current gun laws allowed this to happen. They want you to know: "Hey, this was all legally done. We need more laws to stop this from happening again."

But not so fast.  It may be true that these guns were purchased legally, but they were not used legally and in fact, they were modified in violation of the California firearms laws, says the ATF.

While they were originally sold legally, with magazine locking devices commonly known as bullet buttons, the rifles were subsequently altered in different ways to make them more powerful, according to Meredith Davis, a special agent with the ATF.

The Smith & Wesson rifle was changed in an attempt to enable it fire infully automatic mode, while the DPMS weapon was modified to use alarge-capacity magazine, she said.

Those alterations made the weapons unlawful under California’s ban on assault weapons, which bans guns with magazines that can detach for quick reloading.

The state legally allows the sale and ownership of assault weapons that have fixed magazines.

EDITED TO ADD: Modifying a gun for fully automatic fire is illegal in every state, it's a federal law. A VERY SERIOUS federal law.

While we hear more grandstanding about the need for more gun control, keep in mind all the current laws that were broken to execute this violent massacre:

• The shooters used weapons they did not purchase (sounds like a straw purchase or illegal transfer).

• The shooters modified guns to accept high-capacity magazines.

• The shooters modified guns for automatic fire.

Can anyone think of a law we could put in place that these homicidal maniacs, or any criminal or homicidal maniac, would follow? I can't.

And because the media is so stupid about guns, they don't know that the firearm laws pertain not just to purchases but also to the way a gun is used. That is an inconvenient pill to swallow for the gun grabbers because if they consider the way firearms are used, the focus turns to the person using the gun and not the gun itself. Their propaganda is designed to demonize the gun, not to look at the people who are misusing firearms. They don't want you to ask questions like "What's going on in the inner cities of Chicago?" Instead they want you to say "Look what guns are doing to the inner cities of Chicago!"

We live in an era where no one wants to be held responsible for anything so its much easier to vilify an inanimate object. Be on alert: every time you read how these guns were legally purchased, the media is trying to put one over on you.

As I see it. the last paragraph of that article is the most important part of the entire piece and that is what we should be clamoring about when the Controlled Socialist/Progressive Media start their Yammering about their Agenda of GUN CONTROL WILL SAVE US crap.

My husband was telling me about this - he believes that these weapons were army issue, and would have the locking devices, when sold/distributed . So how did these get out there, who got them, purchased them and how did these 2 terrorists learn how to remove the locking devices. Seems there is more of a conspiracy here.  Are these also part of the "Fast & Furious" gun running of Eric Holder, and why are FBI guns starting to be (stolen, missing) then used in murders!   Is Holder still working against us and supporting an illegal President?

While there are several ways to convert a semi into a fully automatic, I can't help but feel that the administration is using a variation of Fast and Furious to arm select individuals that they feel will do exactly what the San Bernardino shooters did. there is only so far coincidence matches up with the timing of these shootings and the prepared statements of the gun Grabbing Agendas until it lacks all believe-ability.

Despite the Libyan crisis and ongoing problems with America's massive deficit, last week President Obama decided it was time to focus on gun control. He wrote an op-ed, challenged the NRA to negotiate new gun control regulations, and met with gun control groups.

Of course, Obama's op-ed says he supports gun rights. Yet, he also emphasizes that he doesn't want people to "shout at one another" and supports "reasonable laws." Alas, this is simply positioning for the 2012 presidential election and does not accurately describe his true agenda on gun control.

Obama claimed in his op-ed: “My administration has not curtailed the rights of gun owners, it has expanded them, including allowing people to carry their guns in national parks and wildlife refuges.” But he conveniently forgot to mention that he never initiated or supported this legislation. Instead, it was forced upon Obama by a large majority of Congress passing an amendment to a bill that he wanted passed, the “Cardholders’ Bill of Rights Act of 2009.” Just because Obama wasn’t willing to veto a bill he wanted hardly shows support for the right to self-defense.

Indeed, Obama has been a consistent opponent of gun ownership. He enacted a ban on the importation of semiautomatic guns because, “The U.S. insisted that imports of the aging rifles could cause problems such as firearm accidents.” He has proposed much more extensive reporting requirements on sales of long guns. Obama’s nomination of anti-gun Andrew Traver to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives threatens imposing many new regulations. Still further, the Obama administration has actively pushed for the U.N.’s Arms Trade Treaty and continues to make inaccurate statements about the source of Mexico’s crime guns.
And look at the judges President Obama nominated to the Supreme Court. Both Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan have proven themselves to be adamantly against any protection for individual ownership of guns. The stark reality is if Justices Alito, Scalia, Roberts, Thomas, or Kennedy were to die or retire, the two precedents set in both the Washington, D.C. and Chicago gun bans would be threatened as these were narrow 5 to 4 decisions.More

Excellent post M; You must be very organized; while I have either read  the pieces you noted, or other Ultra-Leftist takes on what really happened and is happening--as well as The Conservative/Reactionary Facts on the Matter--in Our Beloved Nation, Our Republic USA!

There is no doubt I agree with you and your positions!

While I have no links at the ready, I want to mention, in addition to comments on Fast'nFurious, The American Consulate (Benghazi, Libya) Annex/Outpost; a CIA gun-running operation/laundering "aid and comfort" to the enemy, of which I suspect Obama was made aware and is ultimately responsible and therefore must be charged with Treason for this and various other charges, including abandoning his Oath-of-Office!!
