That is wild. Makes me think about what I wanted the highway group to do between Baraboo, WI and Madison. Run a track right down the middle of the highway, actually, a conveyor belt setup. Cars drive on, and let the conveyor belt carry them along. My husband laughed at me. Oh well. Best laid plans.

That Conveyor Belt or rolling road idea was postulated by Science Fiction Writer Robert Heinlein in the 1950's in a short story called 'Let the roads roll'

A rolling road would have too many moving parts. The maintenance cost would be far too much.
