*** CANDIDATES WILL DEBATE AT PCCC ***

THIS FRIDAY, 10-15-2010

.

PATERSON – The Paterson Pulse and Christian Heritage U.S. will co-sponsor Passaic County candidates’ debates this Friday, October 15, 2010, from 2-5 p.m. at Passaic County Community College (PCCC). The debates will be held at the College Theater in Founders Hall, located at One College Boulevard.

.

Debates will be conducted in the following order, according to Sirrano Keith Baldeo, publisher of the Paterson Pulse who will serve as the debates’ moderator:

· Freeholder – Democrat Freeholders Pat Lapore and Terry Duffy and Republican challengers Tomas Gomez and Walter Garner;

· Congress – Democrat Congressman Bill Pascrell and Republican challenger Roland Straten;

· Sheriff – Democrat candidate Richard Berdnik and Republican candidate Felix Garcia.

.

Eighth District Republican Congressional candidate Roland Straten looks forward to a debate with Bill Pascrell, who today backed out of debates scheduled for October 28 in Pompton Lakes. “He has a record that he still needs to answer for,” Straten said.

.

Pascrell voted in favor of “ObamaCare” – government control of health care, including $575 billion in Medicare cuts – and multiple massive spending and borrowing “stimulus” packages that, instead of jobs, have created only a stagnant economy, chronically high unemployment, and record-setting deficits. Straten signed the “ObamaCare Repeal Pledge” and believes that the law should be repealed and replaced with genuine reforms that give control to patients and doctors while preserving freedom of choice and privacy. Straten would encourage economic recovery by cutting taxes, controlling government spending and enacting smart regulation.

.

Candidate questioning will be divided into three parts: questions from the Paterson Pulse obtained via a community survey; questions from the audience; and questions from the candidates to each other. Scott Rumana, Passaic County Republican Chairman, will make closing remarks and Democrat Party Chairman John Currie was also invited to make a closing statement.

.

The debates will be taped and will be available for viewing at the Paterson Pulse website (www.patersonpulse.net) and on local community access channels. Transcripts of the debates will be published in the Paterson Pulse.
