STRATEN TO SPEAK AT FREEDOM RALLY SUN. IN W. ORANGE

WEST ORANGE – Roland Straten, Republican candidate for Congress from the 8^th Congressional District, will be a featured speaker at a “Rally for Freedom” on the front steps of West Orange Town Hall, 66 Main Street, at 1 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2010.

Montclair resident Dominic Cotter, founder of the “citizen activist” group Citizens for Freedom, is organizing the rally. In addition to Straten, Cotter said, “A host of private citizens from a variety of different backgrounds and areas of expertise will speak about the most important issues facing our area and our country.”

If elected, Straten will work to reverse the current policies of excessive government growth, spending and regulations, all of which impede the economy’s ability to recover from the recession. “We are in this economic mess because Congress, including Bill Pascrell, kept spending,” Straten said. “When the economic freefall reduced revenue, this Congress spent trillions more, grew government, and borrowed to do it. The interest on our $14 trillion debt threatens people’s paychecks and our children’s futures.”

Straten aims to unseat seven-term Democrat incumbent Pascrell on November 2.
