After Trump Threatens Subsidies, GM Announces $300M Investment in Michigan, Adding 400 Jobs.
3/25/19 by The Bearded Patriot
General Motors is announcing plans to add 400 jobs and build a new electric vehicle at a factory north of Detroit. The $300 million investment comes less than a week after a series of critical tweets from President Donald Trump over the closure of GM’s Lordstown, Ohio factory.
The company says the investment in its Orion Township, Michigan plant will enable the factory to manufacture a Chevrolet vehicle based on the battery-powered Bolt. They wouldn’t say when the new workers will start or when the new vehicle will go on sale, nor would it say if the workers will be new hires or come from a pool of laid-off workers from the planned closings of four U.S. factories by January.
President Trump last weekend publicly aired his discontent over the Lordstown factory’s closure, issuing a series of tweets that urged the automaker to either sell or reopen the plant.
GM CEO Mary Barra said in a statement that the company “will continue to invest in our U.S. operations where we see opportunities for growth.”
The company also announced plans Friday to spend about another $1.4 billion at U.S. factories with 300 more jobs but did not release a time frame or details.
Trump tweets: The moves come after last weekend’s string of venomous tweets by President Donald Trump condemning GM for shutting its small-car factory in Lordstown, Ohio, east of Cleveland. During the weekend, Trump demanded that GM reopen the plant or sell it, criticized the local union leader and expressed frustration with CEO Mary Barra.
"Just spoke to Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors about the Lordstown Ohio plant. I am not happy that it is closed when everything else in our Country is BOOMING. I asked her to sell it or do something quickly. She blamed the UAW Union — I don’t care, I just want it open!" President Trump
GM spokesman Dan Flores said the investment has been in the works for weeks. Indeed, GM has said it planned to build more vehicles off the underpinnings of the Bolt, which can go an estimated 238 miles on a single electric charge. The company has promised to introduce 20 new all-electric vehicles globally by 2023.
In November, GM announced plans to shut the four U.S. factories and one in Canada. About 3,300 workers in the U.S. would lose their jobs, as well as 2,600 in Canada. Another 8,000 white-collar workers were targeted for layoff. The company said the moves are necessary to stay financially healthy as GM faces large capital expenditures to shift to electric and autonomous vehicles.
Plants slated for closure include Lordstown; Detroit-Hamtramck, Michigan; Warren, Michigan; White Marsh, Maryland, near Baltimore and Oshawa, Ontario near Toronto. The factories largely make cars or components for them, and cars aren’t selling well these days with a dramatic consumer shift to trucks and SUVs. With the closures, GM is canceling multiple car models due to slumping sales, including the Chevrolet Volt plug-in gas-electric hybrid.
Job transfers:
GM has said it can place about 2,700 of the laid-off U.S. workers at other factories, but it’s unclear how many will uproot and take those positions. More than 1,100 have already transferred, and others are retiring.
“Right now, we’re focused on the people of Lordstown, making sure they have opportunities because we do have jobs,” Barra told reporters following Friday’s announcement. “We want every single person in Lordstown to stay within the GM family, and that’s what we’re working on.”
The United Auto Workers has sued GM over the closings, which still must be negotiated with the union.
“I will not spoil a great occasion here today. But there is hardship amongst four of our locations. And we’ve made it clear that we disagree with that,” UAW Vice President Terry Dittes said.
President Trump’s latest GM tweet on Monday said "GM should: “Close a plant in China or Mexico, where you invested so heavily pre-Trump,” and “Bring jobs home!”
Michigan support:
“I understand a lot of the angst that people are feeling, and I feel it, too,” Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said Friday. “And I want to make sure that GM knows that their investment here in Michigan is encouraged and welcomed and appreciated. And we’re going to keep doing that.”
Ohio and the area around the Lordstown plant are important to Trump’s 2020 re-election bid. The state helped push him to victory in 2016, and Trump has focused on Lordstown, seldom mentioning the other U.S. factories that GM is slated to close.
“General Motors is committed to supporting U.S. manufacturing, including the great states of Ohio and Michigan,” said Barra, who maintains that she sees no further layoffs or plant closures through the end of 2020.
It’s Official: US is First Country in World History to Increase GDP by More than $1 Trillion in a Year!
3/30/19 by Jim Hoft
For the second year in a row President Trump broke the record for the largest annual increase in GDP in history! In 2017 the US GDP increased by a record $853 billion. But this record was shattered in 2018 with an increase of greater than $1 trillion, the largest annual increase in GDP by any country in world history!
The World Bank reported for 2017 that the US was about 25% of the total world GDP of around $80 trillion.
The World Bank reported the US at $19 trillion to China’s $12, Japan’s $5, Germany’s $4 and the UK’s $3.
For the year 2018, according to the US BEA, the US GDP landed at $20.9 trillion for the first time in history being above $20 trillion for the year.
The increase over last year’s record high is the largest in history. The US GDP increased by more than $1 trillion for the first time in history!
The Fed appears to be working against the US’s interests and still the US economy under President Trump is setting miraculous records.
The US is winning, winning, winning and setting significant positive records under President Trump. Imagine what he could do with a Congress and a Fed that worked for the American people
After Mexico Announces ‘Mother of All Caravans’ – Trump Shuts It Down!
It’s unlike any other caravan – but President Trump is 3 steps ahead of it.
We said for a long time that when the caravans started, they would never stop.
And the caravans from Central America are only getting bigger. It has ballooned into a crisis.
President Trump stood against them from the beginning, while Democrats and the media gave them every excuse and ways to apply for asylum.
Now, the biggest one yet is heading for our border. From AP News:
Mexico is bracing for the possible arrival of the “mother of all caravans,” even as doubts arise over whether the group of Central American migrants will be all that big.
According to reports from Mexican officials, this latest caravan is coming from Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala.
They indicate it could be as large as 20,000 strong.
20,000?! That’s an entire town charging our border!
Those kinds of numbers are utterly unacceptable. Our border must be secured. Anyone who wants to enter has to follow our laws! **** Well, maybe not, they haven't so far! **** Bull
But when thousands get on buses or march for the border, intent on invading us, How are we going to sustain that?-- Even Democrats have to admit this is beyond the breaking point.
And President Trump is already taking action.
President Trump is responding to this growing threat by promising to close our border completely.
If Mexico doesn’t stop them, that’s the only choice he has left.
Unless Mexico does its part and refuses to let them through, this will be our reality.
But President Trump needs America’s support if he’s going to pull off this gutsy move.
President Trump Cuts Direct Aid to Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador over Caravans.
3/30/19 by Breitbart News
The State Department is following President Donald Trump’s call to punish Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador for migrant caravans by cutting off foreign aid to the three countries.
The United States has worked with those countries for years to stabilize their economies and political climates, so residents wouldn’t need to migrate, but President Trump said he doesn’t feel like that’s paid off.
“We’re not paying them anymore because they haven’t done a thing for us,” Trump said Friday in Florida.
President Trump directed the department to end all direct assistance to the Central American countries, ABC News reported.
“I’ve ended payments to Guatemala, to Honduras, and to El Salvador,” Trump said. “No money goes there anymore.”
Though this wasn’t President Trump’s first threat to cut funds from the countries, known as the Northern Triangle, the State Department is following through this time.
“At Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s instruction, we are carrying out the President’s direction and ending FY [fiscal year] 2017 and FY 2018 foreign assistance programs for the Northern Triangle,” a State Department spokesperson told ABC. “We will be engaging Congress as part of this process.”

Lucy Flores isn’t creepy Joe Biden’s only problem. If this incident had been an anomaly, Biden might be able to explain it away and move on. But his sexual behavior has become a pattern over the years. Steven Crowder put together a list of Biden’s top 10 most creepy moments ever.
I left out several that I didn’t find to be all that creepy. But there’s still a lot of material here.
1. Joe Biden said to a female Senator- “Spread your legs! You’re going to be frisked!”
This man wants to be President? To compete with kennedy and slick willy?
2. An uncomfortable moment for a 13-year-old girl? As the predator approaches, grandfather Jeff Sessions swats Joe’s hand away.
And on and on and.....
4. She doesn’t look too happy!
3/29/19 by Sister Toldjah
In a riveting piece published today at The Cut, Flores detailed what she says happened to her during a campaign rally just a few days before the election in 2014:
I found my way to the holding room for the speakers, where everyone was chatting, taking photos, and getting ready to speak to the hundreds of voters in the audience. Just before the speeches, we were ushered to the side of the stage where we were lined up by order of introduction. As I was taking deep breaths and preparing myself to make my case to the crowd, I felt two hands on my shoulders. I froze. “Why is the vice-president of the United States touching me?” I felt him get closer to me from behind. He leaned further in and inhaled my hair. I was mortified. I thought to myself, “I didn’t wash my hair today and the vice-president of the United States is smelling it. And also, what in the actual fuck? Why is the vice-president of the United States smelling my hair?” He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head. My brain couldn’t process what was happening. I am so stupid, and was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused. There is a mexican saying, “tragame tierra,” it means, “earth, swallow me whole.” I couldn’t move and I couldn’t say anything. I wanted nothing more than to get Biden away from me. My name was called and I was never happier to get on stage in front of an audience.
Flores went on to say she had not planned on telling anyone else about the incident outside of staff members but that her anger over it steadily grew after seeing other women in similar situations with Biden: Time passed and pictures started to surface of Vice-President Biden getting uncomfortably close with women and young girls. Biden nuzzling the neck of the Defense secretary’s wife; Biden kissing a senator’s wife on the lips; Biden whispering in women’s ears; Biden snuggling female constituents. I saw obvious discomfort in the women’s faces, and Biden, I’m sure, never thought twice about how it made them feel. I knew I couldn’t say anything publicly about what those pictures surfaced for me; my anger and my resentment grew.
Had I never seen those pictures, I may have been able to give Biden the benefit of the doubt. Had there not been multiple articles written over the years about the exact same thing — calling his creepy behavior an “open secret” — perhaps it would feel less offensive.
She said she could no longer keep her feelings of resentment and anger towards Biden bottled up after hearing all the talk about a possible presidential run. So, 5 years after the fact, I'm accusing biden.
Based on what we’ve seen of biden’s history of inappropriate, sleazy behavior with women, I’m inclined to believe Flores. The pictures she references don’t lie.
"Matt Lauer" talks with Joe Biden during halftime. Can’t wait til the women start coming forward about this groping and inappropriately touching pervert next. #SundayNightFootball
Let this “open secret” about Joe Biden finally come out for all of America to see so we can witness once again – just like we did during the Clinton era and beyond – of how Democrats are two-faced when it comes to holding their side accountable for this type of disgusting behavior. Bill Clinton was accused of sexual harassment, assault, and even rape but women were supposed to worship him and keep quiet because he supported abortion rights.
Let Americans, too, know how the mainstream media did such a good job of keeping this “open secret” so secret. Rumors and photos of Biden in compromising situations with what appear to be unwilling participants have circulated for years, but the behavior was swept under the rug. Even when the mainstream media has had the chance to call him out on this, like every time he has painted himself as a hero and protector of women, they haven’t. So they’re just as complicit as Democrats in keeping this secret, all the while lecturing Republicans about Trump’s supposed unfitness for office.
Remember this, too: In all the articles written over the last few months about whether or not he should run, not a single Democrat strategist who was against him running cited this issue as a factor. Their comments were among the lines of “we love him, but his time has passed.” Democrats have a history of completely ignoring problems like Joe Biden’s touchy-feely-gropey behavior because advancing The Cause™ is more important.
Now they are being hoisted by their own petard. Grab the popcorn.
Trump threatens to close border 'next week' if Mexico doesn't 'immediately stop' flood of illegal immigrants.
1 day ago By Brooke Singman | Fox News
Trump threatens to close southern border, says Mexico and Central A...
President Trump on Friday threatened to close the Southern Border next week if Mexico does not “immediately stop” the record-breaking surge of illegal immigrants flooding into the United States.
President Trump’s initial warning came following comments made by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Kevin McAlleenan, who said this week that the border was at its “breaking point,” noting that there are not enough agents to respond to the flow of illegal immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
“That breaking point has arrived this week at our border,” McAleenan said during a visit to the border in El Paso, Texas. “CBP is facing an unprecedented humanitarian and border security crisis all along our Southwest border.”
His agency also tweeted that they saw the highest number of "apprehensions and encounters" in over a decade this week -- over 4,000 in one day: "#CBP saw the highest total of apprehensions and encounters in over a decade on Monday, with 4,000 migrants either apprehended or encountered at ports of entry in a single day. Yesterday, that record was broken again—4,117 in a single day."
Last month, more than 76,000 migrants were detained, marking the highest number of apprehensions in 12 years. That figure includes more than 7,000 unaccompanied children. More than 36,000 migrant families have arrived in the El Paso region in fiscal 2019 with about 2,000 at the same time last year, according to CBP data. The influx has prompted new challenges for Border Patrol agents.
And according to new data, the number of adults crossing the border illegally with children has surged. During the first four months of the year, CBP apprehended more than 136,000 migrants made up of adults and children who crossed illegally, marking a new record.
Meanwhile, the president, whose paramount 2016 campaign promise was to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, declared a national emergency in a bid to free up funding for the barrier along the border. This month, the president issued his first veto on a Democrat-backed measure to cancel the emergency.
When asked about his comments, the president said he was serious! "Mexcio can stop them, but chose not to," he told reporters Friday. "So they're going to stop them, and if they don't, we'll close the border, and we'll keep it closed for a long time." He added: "I'm not playing games!"
On Tuesday, House Democrats failed to override Trump’s veto, allowing Trump to move forward with the issue.
President Trump had declared the border emergency under a law that lets him shift budget funds to address dire situations. His plan is to shift an additional $3.6 billion from military construction projects to work on border barriers.
Congress voted this year to limit spending on such barriers to less than $1.4 billion, and Democrats accused Trump of ignoring lawmakers' constitutional control over spending.

2020 elections: How Trump is on track for a 2020 landslide.
3/21/19 By BEN WHITE and STEVEN SHEPARD
“The economy is just so damn strong right now and by all historic precedent the incumbent should run away with it,” said Donald Luskin, chief investment officer of TrendMacrolytics, a research firm whose model correctly predicted Trump’s 2016 win when most opinion polls did not.
Economic models point to a Trump blowout in 2020. But a faltering economy or giant scandal could change everything.
President Donald Trump has a low approval rating. He is engaging in bitter Twitter wars and facing metastasizing investigations.
But if the election were held today, he’d likely ride to a second term in a huge landslide, according to multiple economic models with strong track records of picking presidential winners and losses.
Credit a strong U.S. economy featuring low unemployment, rising wages and low gas prices — along with the historic advantage held by incumbent presidents.
President Trump appears to be in a much stronger position than his approval rating and conventional Beltway wisdom might suggest. But, he also could wind up in trouble if the economy slows markedly between now and next fall, as many analysts predict it will.
And other legal bombshells could explode the current scenario. Trump’s party managed to lose the House in 2018 despite a strong economy. So the models could wind up wrong this time around.
COUNTDOWN TO 2020
The race for 2020 starts now. Stay in the know. Follow our presidential election coverage.
Despite all these caveats, Trump looks surprisingly good if the old James Carville maxim coined in 1992 — “the economy, stupid” — holds true in 2020.
“The economy is just so damn strong right now and by all historic precedent the incumbent should run away with it,” said Donald Luskin, chief investment officer of TrendMacrolytics, a research firm whose model correctly predicted Trump’s 2016 win when most opinion polls did not. “I just don’t see how the blue wall could resist all that.”
Models maintained by economists and market strategists like Luskin tend to ignore election polls and personal characteristics of candidates. Instead, they begin with historical trends and then build in key economic data including growth rates, wages, unemployment, inflation and gas prices to predict voting behavior and election outcomes.
Yale economist Ray Fair, who pioneered this kind of modeling, also shows Trump winning by a fair margin in 2020 based on the economy and the advantage of incumbency.
“Even if you have a mediocre but not great economy — and that’s more or less consensus for between now and the election — that has a Trump victory and by a not-trivial margin,” winning 54% of the popular vote to 46% for the Democrat, he said. Fair’s model also predicted a Trump win in 2016 though it missed on Trump’s share of the popular vote. Still, Luskin, Fair and other analysts who use economic data and voting history to make predictions also note that a sharp decline in growth and an increase in the unemployment rate by next fall could alter Trump’s fortunes.
“It would have to slow a lot to still be not pretty good,” Luskin said, adding that what really matters is the pace of change. Even if overall numbers remain fairly strong, a sharp move in the wrong direction could alter voting behavior.
Luskin’s current model — which looks at GDP growth, gas prices, inflation, disposable income, tax burden and payrolls — has Trump winning by a blowout margin of 294 electoral votes.
The White House remains confident that the GOP tax cut will support growth of 3 percent both this year and next, keeping job and wage gains strong. That’s much higher than consensus forecasts from the Federal Reserve and major banks that generally see a global slowdown led by Europe and China, coupled with the fading impact of U.S. tax cuts pushing U.S. growth closer to 2 percent this year with job gains slowing.
But Trump may have one major ally in his quest to make sure the numbers don’t go much lower than this: the Fed, which recently stopped its campaign of interest rate hikes. And on Wednesday the central bank said it foresees no more rate hikes this year.
The moves followed months of Trump bashing the Fed for raising rates too much and stomping on his economy, though Chairman Jerome Powell has said repeatedly that politics plays no role in the bank’s decision.
Whatever the case, a much more gentle Fed could slide a floor beneath any decline in Trump’s economy and boost his reelection chances significantly.
Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics and a regular Trump critic, has been road-testing a dozen different economic models for the 2020 race. At this point, Trump wins in all 12 — and quite comfortably in most of them. The Moody’s models look at economic trends at the state level.
“If the election were held today, Trump would win according to the models and pretty handily,” Zandi said. “In three or four of them it would be pretty close. He’s got low gas prices, low unemployment and a lot of other political variables at his back. The only exception is his popularity, which matters a lot. If that falls off a cliff it would make a big difference.” The Moody’s models look at economic trends at the state level and incorporate some political variables including a president's approval rating.
The Moody’s approach performed well in recent presidential elections, but missed the 2016 result in part because it did not account for a potential drop in Democratic turnout in key swing states. Zandi is trying to correct for that now before rolling out a new model sometime this summer.
Trump has already upended many of the rules of presidential politics. His party suffered a drubbing in last year’s midterm elections despite the strong economy, and the yawning gap between how voters view the president and the nation’s economic standing is growing even larger: Presidents typically just aren’t this unpopular when the economic engine is humming along.
Trump this week seized on a new CNN poll that showed more than seven in 10 Americans, or 71%, view the U.S. economy as “very good” or “somewhat good.” That was higher than CNN has measured at any point since a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll in Feb. 2001 found 80% thought the economy was that robust.
Yet Trump’s approval rating in the poll — which is usually tied closely to the economy — is just 42%. And unlike during the late ’90s, when President Bill Clinton’s approval ratings surged ahead of his personal favorability amid major scandal, Trump’s favorable ratings (41% in the CNN poll) track closely with his job-approval rating.
Those low scores also apply to many attributes typically seen as desirable in presidents. Just 40 percent say Trump cares about people like them; 34% say he is honest and trustworthy; 41 percent say he can manage the government effectively; and 32% say he will unite the country, not divide it.
Moreover, even how Americans view the state of the country has become divorced from the economy. In the latest POLITICO/Morning Consult poll, only 36% of voters said the U.S. was headed in the right direction, compared with nearly two-thirds, 64%, who said it was off on the wrong track.
For the economic models to be correct, voters would have to shrug off much of what they dislike about Trump and decide the strength of the economy makes a change unwise.
Prominent Democrats know that while Trump might seem like a loose cannon faced with the threat of a devastating report from special counsel Robert Mueller, he will likely be a formidable opponent in 2020, especially if the economy remains close to where it is today.
“Despite the fact that Trump is a largely incompetent clown, Democrats should not be overly confident or sanguine that they can beat him,” said Dan Pfeiffer, a top aide to former President Barack Obama. “He is a slight favorite to win. But he barely won last time and it took a Black Swan series of events to make that happen. All Democrats have to do is flip 100,000 or so votes in three states to win and that’s a very doable thing.”
President Trump's One-Word Reply To Senate Voting Against National Emergency.
The Senate shocked the country when they voted against Trump’s national emergency. They passed a resolution condemning the president and his efforts to end the crisis at our border. The ugly vote, supported by Republicans, was a betrayal of every American. Trump had one response.
Few people can honestly ignore the growing crisis on the border. For months we’ve seen the problem grow into a catastrophe. Countless migrants from across South America have rushed our border, demanding asylum. This is the end result of years of Democrat policy that have turned our border into a revolving door.
Our open border is a magnet to many fleeing justice from other countries. Drug cartels sneak over the border, to spread their poison across the U.S. Human smugglers and sex traffickers get over the border, with little problems.
Border Patrol works overtime to prevent this massive problem from exploding out of control. But thanks to the Democrats’ refusal to do anything, it’s only gotten worse. Millions in South America believe they can just walk into the United States, our laws be damned.
Many times, President Trump has sought ways to secure our border with help from Congress. But both corrupt Democrats and Anti-Trump Republicans have refused to cooperate. The GOP lost the House, thanks in part to many within the party turning on Trump.
Despite that, Trump is determined to secure our border with a wall. The last recourse he had was to declare a national emergency so he could use military funds to build the wall. And after countless fights, obstruction, and government shutdowns, he did just that.
In typical fashion, the D.C. swamp fought back. The Senate passed a resolution condemning the president’s Constitutional action. So, he had one word for them.
President Donald Trump issued a one-word Twitter response to news that the Senate had voted to sustain a resolution opposing the president’s use of the “national emergency” to reroute funds from other military priorities to the building the border wall.
The Senate voted 59-41 to pass the measure, declaring they would not support a “national emergency” declaration on the southern border should the president decide to send one to Congress. [Source: Daily Wire]
Twelve Republicans joined in this disgraceful attack on the president’s authority. That includes Rand Paul and—big surprise—Anti-Trumper Mitt Romney.
What were these Republicans thinking? Are they against a secure border? Don’t they realize our national security, prosperity, and way of life are under siege by our open border? Can’t they see that the Democrats have been exploiting illegal immigration for years, just to pad their election results?
I guess “sending a message” to Trump is more important than protecting the very people who voted for them.
To their credit Ted Cruz and Ben Sasse voted against the resolution. Sasse rejected the resolution for good reason, to condemn nancy pukelosi and the Democrats for refusing to work with Trump on securing the border.
He, like the rest of us, is outraged that Congress refuses to fulfill their mission to defend this country.
After so many attempts to secure the border, Trump took the only route left. And, ironically, the only route that will be sure to work.
Trump responded with just one word to this despicable resolution: “VETO.”
As president, he has the final authority to cancel out this ridiculous resolution. The only way Congress can override him is with a 2/3 majority vote. I don’t think they’re going to get it.
This is not the first time the corrupt D.C. swamp took great steps to violate this president’s lawful authority. Every time Trump signed an executive order to help you and me, liberals fired back with countless lawsuits.
Democrats have launched investigations to undermine and persecute the duly elected President of the United States. They have used the media to spread lies about Russian collusion to delegitimize President Trump.
Not to mention the endless slander from liberal pundits, celebrities, news hosts, and politicians.
All to stop a man who simply wants to put Americans first. Everyone else? They want to put powerful businesses and foreign nations ahead of you and me.
Let that sink in.
