Bush: I didn't know about document calling Rubio 'GOP Obama'

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says he wasn’t aware of a slideshow produced by his campaign that called presidential opponent Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) a “GOP Obama.”

“I didn’t see it,” he said in an interview taped for NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Pressed on the issue, Bush repeated those words: “I didn’t see it. I didn’t see it.”

"Well I read about it when it was leaked, for sure,” he said. "I didn’t know about the PowerPoint. It wasn’t presented to me.”

But Bush also said attacks were part of the political game, while denying that they were the animating feature of his campaign.

"You know that comparing and contrasting is part of this,” he said. “But the basis of my campaign is that we can fix these problems and people can be lifted out of poverty and the great middle can get rising income again.”

The leak of the full presentation to US News & World Report — an earlier leak revealed some of the slides — came during an already-rough stretch for his campaign.

Bush was battered by Rubio during an exchange in Wednesday’s GOP presidential debate, and he was forced to slash salaries for his staff.

The presentation was delivered by Bush advisers looking to reassure jittery donors.

Though the former governor was an early front-runner in the GOP race, he and his allies have struggled to keep up in a campaign dominated by the bombast of real estate developer Donald Trump.

Bush currently is in fifth place with 6.6 percent support in the presidential race, according to a RealClearPolitics average of polls.

Outgoing Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) will make an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” to reflect on his tenure and talk about the new two-year budget deal passed by Congress this week.

Several GOP presidential candidates will also pop in on various shows, headlined by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” He will try to convert his strong performance at Wednesday night’s debate into a jump in the polls.

Here are the rest of the expected guests for the Sunday talk shows:

ABC’s “This Week”: Newly crowned Iowa GOP front-runner Ben Carson will try to spin the debate forward on the show, as will primary rival Carly Fiorina.

CBS’s “Face the Nation”: Rubio will appear in a pre-taped interview to discuss his gaining momentum in the presidential race, and Democratic House Whip Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) will offer his take on the new budget deal.

CNN’s “State of the Union”: Ohio Gov. John Kasich headlines the program to talk about his presidential campaign.

"Fox News Sunday": Three Republican presidential candidates take center stage: Fiorina, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and former New York governor George Pataki.

NBC’s “Meet the Press”: Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush headlines the program to discuss rumors of his presidential campaign’s demise, which he says have been greatly exaggerated.

Fiorina slams ‘The View’

Carly Fiorina is daring the hosts of “The View” to insult her to her face.

In an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Fiorina ripped the hosts of the show, calling the liberal feminists and saying they are threatened by her.

She also said there was a double standard after two hosts of “The View” described her as wearing a Halloween mask at last week’s debate, saying the comment would hever have been made about Hillary Clinton.

“There is nothing more threatening to the liberal media in general and to Hillary Clinton in particular than a conservative women. So of course there’s a double standard,” she said.

“And conservative women from Sarah Palin to Michele Bachmann to Carly Fiorina are long used to this”

Fiorina also dared the show’s hosts to bring her back and make the same comments to her face.

“It will not stop me, it will not scare me and maybe the ladies of ‘The View’ if I come on again, let’s see if they have the guts to say that to my face,” she said.

During a segment of their program on Thursday, “View” host Michelle Collins noted Fiorina’s comment during the debate that people told her she should have smiled more.

“She looked demented,” Collins said of the smile that Fiorina then made on the stage.

Co-host Joy Behar then said that there should be a Fiorina Halloween mask.

Fiorina said she was “tired” of the insults.

“Well I think what these women represent is a set of liberal feminists who believe that if you do not agree with them on their liberal orthodoxy, that you don’t count,” she said when asked if the hosts were out of touch.

“I’m tired of being insulted by liberal feminists who talk about women’s issues when the reality is every issue is a women’s issue from the economy to ISIS to Russia to healthcare to education to the national debt, women care about all of that.”
