Citizens Dedicated To Preserving Our Constitutional Republic

Our Founders included Adams, Franklin, Hamilton, Jay, Jefferson, Madison, Randolph, Washington; among other visionaries. Hopes and wishes aside, we no longer produce such men. Cold and hard reality.
So now is the "perfect time" for what??? PRECISELY WHAT!
W/o men w/the gravitas and resolve of our Founders; transformational change is a delusional fantasy. Hope that Trump has a successful 4 years so that in 2020 he is able to persuade at least a majority of voters to support his vision. Over time this can form the bedrock for a new beginning, allowing kindred spirits akin the Founders to emerge and flourish. Then we will get change.
A 25 paragraph drone, each multi- hundred words; will accomplish absolutely nothing other than put people to sleep.
I beg to differ. We do have great men among us. But they do not flourish well in evil swamps....Just want to put a little optimism into the fold.
KK, don't mean to be a downer but suggest if such men exist in our place and time, they remain invisible.
Recall, our Founders, shepherded a collection of colonies some 3000 miles from the British Empire; then, arguably, the most powerful in the world and through their resolve and will, gave birth to the most powerful nation the world has ever experienced.
Two observations:
* The greater the challenge (evil swamps) the greater the achievement.
* These interminable bromides about how to 'fix" our malaise will simply add more clutter to an already 3000+ page Constitution and invite interminable litigation.
Thomas, Maybe we have some in DC already, But they are knee deep in swamp muck. We all know some of these people in Congress who want the swamp to dry up.I hope and pray that they will be the ones who will be inspired by watching Trump pull at the swamp cork. I think some will help pull the cork to drain the swamp.Sometimes what you look for is in plain sight....More optimism ...just sayin.....Snowball effect...
If we have any in DC, suggest they are in deep incognito.
Optimism, while a worthy sentiment, never built the Parthenon, painted Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel nor excavated the Panama Canal. Men w/true grit did.
When they show up in DC, please let me know immediately!!!
Like Paul Revere ...THE HERO`S ARE HERE ....THE HERO`S ARE HERE...LOL...But actually all worth while visions were put to reality because optimist`s pushed the vision into reality.
If you are waiting for great men to show up. You are squandering your time. This Republic will be saved because average men do something that will make them Great Men. Great men are not born. They are developed through life`s experiences.
Sentimental and absurd nonsense.
Around 400 BC, Plato defined the soul as ' that dynamic element differentiating each of us for eternity and the catalyst for our creative impulse'.
Paraphrasing Lord Macaulay;"History is indeed the story of great men."
One's life experiences simply present those born w/greatness, an opportunity.
Sounds good....Hey is that indigo or sativa
Thomas, to respond to your question;Precisely What?
What I got from this was it's time to unite behind an agenda to restore the Republic to what it was meant to be. Everything has come together to the point that it actually has a chance of being done. The people are disgusted with the way America has been pushed over the last century, They're sick of professional politicians calling what should be their shots. They know what needs to be done Constitutionally to take back the stolen/usurped powers that rightfully belong to the people. Trump is a focal point for this resurgence of American tenacity and reaction to end the befouled government. We have it in our grasp over the next two years to consolidate Conservatives in positions to take over in Congress from most of the remaining progressives in the 2018 elections, but we have to start vetting and preparing them now. We also need to take away the Amendments that allowed the Federal Government to slip the bonds the Constitution was created for to hold it in check. To do that the people need to arise and demand their State Legislatures petition for the Article V Amendment proposal convention, where it's the people themselves and not Congress who proposes New Amendments, Repeal of current Amendments, Most importantly the wording of those amendments to preclude the stealth wording the SCOTUS can misuse .
M.
Don't disagree w/your assessment of how we allowed ourselves to be deluded into forgetting/ignoring the original intent of the Constitution in the name of compassion or was it expediency or perhaps reform and tolerance. Whichever.
Also agree that Trump represents an opportunity for fundamental change.
Nor am I advocating that the frenzied left be confronted w/timidly which will further embolden them.
But I am urging caution before we embrace any cause, however well intentioned, as we've heard all this before, since the birth of the Tea Party, an observation I assert w/o any disrespect.
And I am fearful of any Constitutional Convention, as these entities can easily embrace any agenda, unless of course the Founders mentioned previously can re-appear and take charge.
Reality is this.Trump rec'd 46.5 % of the vote, meaning 53.5% rejected him (bless the Founders for the EC). I suggest the impact of Trump's actions will be telling and decisive, not incessant media blathering.
In 2018, one third of the Senate is up, of which 25 seats are held by D's, most of them in red states carried by Trump. This presents a decisive opportunity to fundamentally alter government w/candidates of principle, resolve and will.(Sharon Engle need not re-apply).
Further, advances the R's have made in Governorships and Statehouses will give them control of House
re-apportionment following the 2020 Census, further putting it out of reach of the rabid left, for decades.
Can we re-claim our heritage? Of course we can but the task is attitudinal and behavioral. Changing the rules and regulations will hardly accomplish this, as all change starts w/the self.
Thomas,
There is only one difference between a States petitioned for Article V and a Congressionally called Article V When the States petition Congress must call it and then step back and not make any suggestions or corrections in what is proposed. It still takes 38 States to Ratify any proposed amendment and all amendments wording must be agreed on by all the Delegates before it is submitted to Congress to officially send out for ratification.
Lookm at the Amendments 14,16,17, and see what the Constitution would be like without them. The only things affected is the power of the Federal Government to control the people and the States. Considering all the Amendments Congress has made to the benefit of itself and central government, I feel the people need a chance to have their say, and again it takes 75% of the States to ratify so the popularity split does not hold that it would create a ratification, it would only prevent a ratification.
