We The People USA

Citizens Dedicated To Preserving Our Constitutional Republic

Crooked politicians must be held accountable for the crimes they have done. Trump is the only one who will do it. To elect a POTUS who will not prioritize fixing our criminal political system will not be good enough for me.We will not get another one like Trump ,who will bitch slap the evil out of Washington politics..No one can deny that Trump is crazy enough to do it. But he needs us to want it fixed. He can not stand alone..This is that time in history. The time that many have hoped. Turn your back on this opportunity,and we are done. THAT IS THE TRUTH OF IT.

Ohmigod those barbaric ancients; how could they be so mean!

We, the greatest, are appalled and would never, ever even contemplate such behavior!!!

Hmm.............what we are is full of shit and addicted to pious platitudes as well as sanctimonious malarkey; proving it beyond doubt; given the so called leaders we have elected for decades.

For the record, RC heretics were burned at the stake as late as the17th century.

Let's accept for the sake of argument; the Greeks and Romans were bad guys!!!

Now consider the condition of mankind if they had never existed!!!!

Jesus, Mary and Joseph we'd still be in caves and eating tree bark!!!!!

Suggest this site nominate a GET REAL DAY for some members before the end of summer.

It should be cathartic!!!

The Catholics were not big on the Jesus thing. They leaned on the God thing heavily. The old teachings of God were not from love like Jesus teachings. I was raised Irish Catholic. But lose reined. As I aged I morphed to basic Christianity. I know the difference well.

A reflection.

The command "Render to the Almighty what is his and to Caesar what is his";

is evidence of both a spiritual and a material reality for Man.

Allow religion to guide us spiritually, while our material guide is the Natural Law;

self-evident for thousands of years and the bedrock of culture/society.

Consider the command, "You shall not kill" and its contra, "You shall kill'.

Which promotes and sustains life???

The rules for both our worldly life and after life are plain, simple and self-evident.

Thomas,

In the study of comparative religions we had to do at my Catholic school there was a discussion on the 10 Commandments as part of the history of the Old Testament. the commandment we so often mis-quote as Thou shalt not Kill is actually rendered as Thou shalt not commit murder and that's a world of difference. Many bible verses were also misconstrued over time like an Eye for an Eye was never meant to mean vengeance, instead it was meant as  being merciful by not taking more than an eye for an eye instead of killing someone for a slight.

My assertion is direct and simple.

In our material world, the Natural Law is the bedrock of culture/society; developed gradually many thousands of years ago by the earliest peoples

of the Fertile Crescent and far earlier than the Bible.

What the latter says or doesn't say in this matter is irrelevant.

The focus of religion is the spiritual; the pathway to the eternal.

Leave religion to the pulpit and preachers; keeping it far, far away from anything and everything political.

The Bible we know today and believe as the written word of God Almighty has come to us through the ages. From the Old Testament originating out of 6000 years of Hebrew writing and that writings in the Torah and Talmud having some roots in previous writings from Sumeria and possibly the Sumerian writings gaining some from the newest and oldest temple writings found at Göbekli Tepe in Turkey.This progression does not deny the existence of God and neither does it Deny the validity of the current Bible.

What it does show is that History and concurrently Societies throughout history, build step by step and progress forward for a time, then they regress for a time when their civilizations fall. However each new valley is a little higher than the last valley. We are continuing the process.

Trump using his Pardon Pen to fix wrongs. Trump takes the heat in the middle of his term proving he is no coward. Cowards Pardon on the way out the door. If you look at the difference of the Pardons done by Clinton and Obama compared to Trump . You can see a huge difference.http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/05/31/trump-to-give-full-pardo...

Repeating; "Render to the Almighty what is his and to Caesar what is his."

Neither the Almighty nor the Ancients need defense or explanation, as

they acted in character.

Assume, a moment, that Greece and Rome never existed.

If so, I assert that Roman Catholicism would have withered and died

within a century of the Fall of Rome, as Western Civilization was the

incubus that allowed the faith to prosper and endure.

Thomas,

Don't forget the historic background of the Roman Catholic Church when the Roman Emperor Constantine forcibly merged the Christian sects with the already established non christian church of Rome in the 4th century, melding the two into the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman church had several pagan beliefs like the cult of Mithras which somewhat paralleled the story of Jesus. Many beliefs of the early pure christian church were not incorporated and we have very little to see what the early christian beliefs were prior to the Council of Nicaea where the official dogma was standardized.

That progression from the original teachings to what we have today with all the ongoing changes exemplifies what the ancients you talk about did. even they stood on the shoulders of those who came before them on back to the beginning. Thinking, trying succeeding and failing they slowly built up what we are still building on and the generations who come after us will continue to build on. That is the dynamic of moving ahead, otherwise civilization would become static and collapse altogether to start over again.

What I'm asserting is quite simple

The impetus behind the achievements of Greece and Rome

was their spirit of inquiry and thirst for knowledge.

This created an environment and temperament across Europe

that encouraged RC to survive and thrive.

Let's cease the fantasies and reflect a moment.

The Ancients, be they Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans among others;

were self-taught, rejecting a formal and structured system of learning along

w/ its trappings such a "degrees", for a simple reason.

They understood that learning was the catalyst of achievement and its own reward.

The High Middle Ages followed by the Italian Renaissance, initiated the recognition

of high achievers, who advanced the well being of culture/society, usually w/honorariums.

But the credential/degree fad is a modern creation and of no surprise given our

addiction to form over substance.

Thomas,

By your own explanation they built by observing the natural world and did it step by step as we do today to add to what they tarted and undoubtedly future generations will do to our contributions, even if they discredit and disprove them.
