Citizens Dedicated To Preserving Our Constitutional Republic
Crooked politicians must be held accountable for the crimes they have done. Trump is the only one who will do it. To elect a POTUS who will not prioritize fixing our criminal political system will not be good enough for me.We will not get another one like Trump ,who will bitch slap the evil out of Washington politics..No one can deny that Trump is crazy enough to do it. But he needs us to want it fixed. He can not stand alone..This is that time in history. The time that many have hoped. Turn your back on this opportunity, and we are done. THAT IS THE TRUTH OF IT.

That is such a powerful message that every American needs to listen to.
The Democrats are at war with America, the Constitution, and the American people. What Virginia and other States are doing is unconstitutional in my opinion.
I have been keeping an eye open on that matter. I agree the left has gone way too far, they are telling honest citizens they want to take away their rights to self defense under the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution. That is a direct contradiction to the Constitution and is as unlawful as it gets.
I tell people that is what happens when people vote for any democrat, the destruction of their God given rights and their Constitutional rights as well.
I suspect that this impeachment trial may well be over by the end of the week. The defense team has Monday and Tuesday to make their case, though they may not take both days. Thereafter, there will be debate, followed by a vote, on whether to call additional witnesses. That will take a day or two. I believe there will not be new witnesses/testimony. Then, there will be the vote to convict or acquit. That could happen on Friday.
BUT, there are radical Democrats who say that, if Trump is acquitted, they will just impeach him again, and again, and again until they get a conviction. I believe them, but whether Pelosi will allow endless repeats is anyone's guess.
Let's face it, impeachment is all they have. They cannot run on the economy, the border, trade, terrorism, unemployment, etc. THEY HAVE NOTHING, PERIOD! When the Left's standard bearers are the likes of Pelosi, AOC, Schiff, Schumer, et al, you KNOW they are in trouble. When the MSM has to -- LITERALLY -- create falsehoods out of thin air, you KNOW the Left is in trouble. When Trump's favorability numbers stay high and/or rise, despite the best efforts of the Dems and their MSM partners, you KNOW they are in trouble.
Personally, I really, really, REALLY hope the Left keeps doing what it is doing, right through the election. If so, I foresee a GOP clean sweep in the House, major gains in the Senate, and Democrat losses in State elections, right down to dog catcher.
THEN, Trump can finish his agenda.
BUT (and this is a huge "but"), the real fight will be after Trump eventually leaves office. Here's why. Reagan made great strides in rolling back the Federal behemoth. But, when he left office, the Left resumed its relentless march towards Socialism until we found ourselves in the condition we were when Trump was elected. Clearly, something must be done to prevent endless, back and forth repeats of recent history. Clearly, we must find a way to cement the Founders' vision for America into the foreseeable future.
Happily, there is an answer. It is an Article V Convention of States, with appropriate amendments, to restore the Original Intent of the Constitution as envisioned by the Founders. Unless and until that is accomplished, we will find ourselves in an endless, downward spiral, falling ever closer to the Event Horizon of Socialist Slavery.
Trump has been great, I'll give you that. But, the Left is relentless and Trump's legacy WILL be undone, at the first opportunity, by the Left's RELENTLESS pursuit of the mirage of a "Socialist Utopia".
In short, the Trump Administration WILL turn out to be just a "holding action". The best thing Trump could do to cement his legacy would be to push for a Convention of States after his reelection. I believe that, with Trump's support and backing, a Convention of States could be realized. IF that happened, Trump would become the greatest President of all time right behind Washington; even greater than Lincoln.
Your take?
Oren
Oren, I am in total agreement with a convention of the states.Hopefully Trump will do what you wish. I have heard of rumblings of him entertaining it..There is a solid movement for it....The Liberty Movement is gaining steam. This is because many good Patriots have brought it front and center . And we finally have a leader who is capable of leading.Others have tried. Only to be swallowed up by the swamp. Leaders like Trump do not grow on Trees. They are gifts from God...The best thing we can do for Trump`s leadership, is to follow his direction of how we travel. He is the Trail Blazer for the liberty movement .He has been our blessing for our Liberty..
I can agree in principle on what you are saying. I want to see President Trump have all charges dismissed because the "impeachment' had no real basis to begin with, his actions were and not are impeachable offenses. I can say this for Pelosi Schiff and a boat load of others Article 3 Section 3 is most applicable to them as well as members of the F.B.I. and other Obama hold overs.
Now on the Article V C.O.S. has to be carefully thought out, because unless there are certain issues only to be voted on and they are clearly stated. The left might be able to have people tossing other items on it and finally get their chance to destroy our country using the Article V Convention against us.
Also it would take a simple 3/4 of the states to pass and ratify it.
Good point. Double edge swords are a bitch.
Wiccan, and others,
I want to make a couple of points.
First, an Article V COS is our last, best chance for a peaceful return to the Original Intent of the Constitution as envisioned by the Founders. Colonel George Mason, in Convention, warned vociferously that the time would come when the Federal Government, itself, would become the enemy of freedom and proposed a mechanism allowing the States to go around an increasingly authoritarian Federal Government and propose remedies. Hence, the Convention of States option in Article V.
Second, I have studied and followed the COS movement for many, many years. I believe it is our last, best chance. Those who oppose it are the same people who are terrified at its possibilities. They are totally vested in maintaining the status quo, at all cost, primarily for personal, selfish reasons. They throw up all manner of spurious 'arguments' in the hope of generating fear and maintaining their own power and influence. NONE of those arguments hold water when examined objectively. Their main fearmongering 'argument' is that the Convention could throw the Constitution into the trash can and impose some form of authoritarian government against the Will of the People and States. This is patently ludicrous, especially when we recognize that we ALREADY HAVE an authoritarian Federal Government. A COS gets its authority from the Constitution. Ergo, throwing out the Constitution would be throwing out the underlying authority for a COS, itself. CAN'T HAPPEN!
Third, I could write a book on the veracity and validity of a COS, but will focus on something you wrote, "Also, it would take a simple 3/4 of the States to pass and ratify it". Let's use the Second Amendment as an example of what people are afraid a COS might do away with. Just for grins and giggles, let's say a COS wrote an amendment repealing the Second Amendment. It would take 38 States to ratify it, but only 13 States to reject it. Who would those 13 States be? Well, let's start with all of the South, all of the Southwest, almost all of the Northwest (Oregon and Washington excepted -- maybe), all of the Northcentral, all of the Midwest (Illinois excepted), and even most of the Northeast. That's WAY more than 13!
Fourth, let me give you some quotes: "I hear a thousand reasons something cannot be done, but never one how it can" -- author unknown. "The only thing we have to fear is fear, itself" -- FDR (I don't like him, either, but he was right). "Those who make peaceful change impossible make violent revolution inevitable" -- JFK. "The undeniable truth is often surrounded by a bodyguard of lies" -- Winston Churchill.
Fifth, we must strike while the iron is hot! We must Carpe Diem (seize the day). Trump is the opportunity we have been waiting for. Assuming he is reelected, we MUST find a way to get his ear and get him behind the COS Movement and push it over the top. I have personally lobbied my State Legislators for a COS, only to find that they, too, are vested in the status quo. They prefer the path of least resistance to the salvation of the country. ONLY Trump can push it over the top. ONLY Trump can galvanize his supporters to FORCE 34 States to call a COS. ONLY TRUMP! We MUST find a way to get to him, AFTER his reelection. FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!
Sixth, we simply CANNOT cripple ourselves by second-guessing the possible outcome. It would be like NOT taking up a fight because we might lose. We cannot afford to do that. Too much is at stake. If the Founders had taken that position, we would still be a colony of England.
Lastly, as I said, I have studied this issue in great depth and for many years. If you like, feel free to give me the best anti-COS arguments you have heard or read and I will do my best to assuage any concerns you may have.
Oren
Once passed how could the left benefit from it ?.....Like Wolf asked....if they could get some of their agendas forward with this .Can it become a Trojan Horse ?....Can it become just another tool for the Deep Stated Establishment that will try to entrench our government all the time.....THE DEVIL IS A CRAFTY SON OF A BITCH.....I say that this COS will work, providing we bring GOD with it. Putting God back in our society is key for all things. With out God we are Doomed. ...THAT IS THE TRUTH OF IT.......Get the COS agenda wrapped in prayer....AND IT WILL BECOME LAW......GUARANTEED.
Kevin,
I will reply in more depth tomorrow a.m. Right now we have to go get some supplies for our farm.
Oren
Kevin, and others,
Got my chores done, so I'm back.
The Founders weaved Divine Providence into the Constitution when they wrote it. This is evidenced by both the First Amendment and their numerous writings and letters back and forth to one another during and after the Philadelphia Convention. Sadly, SCOTUS misinterpreted (intentionally or otherwise) the First Amendment, resulting in the total evisceration of God from government and the public sphere until we now have government totally devoid of any moral compass, left to its selfish and self-aggrandizing ways.
While I agree that there is a place and need for God's moral compass and guidance, I also agree with the Founders' vision of government that neither promotes nor demotes a specific view of religion. To them, that was a matter for States and localities to address according to the will of their people. The Founders were very wary of a State-sponsored, supported, and advocated "religion" pushed down the throats of the People against their will. They saw what the King of England did when he, personally, had a dispute with the Catholic Church. They understood that many, many people came to the colonies SPECIFICALLY to flee the MANDATED Church of England teachings and mandates. They wanted the People to be free of such religious authoritarianism. Hence, the wording of the First Amendment, "Congress shall make no law regarding the ESTABLISHMENT of religion".
As for your concern that the Left could insert its 'hidden agenda' into a COS Convention; there is little concern for that as witnessed by the simple fact that the Left is dead-set against a COS. The Left clearly and accurately understands that a COS would almost certainly be convened for the SPECIFIC purpose of thwarting the Leftist Agenda and reasserting the Original Intent as envisioned by the Founders.
The Founders CAREFULLY constructed the COS option in Article V to avoid any such possibility. First, they mandated that 2/3 (34) of the States must agree to hold a Convention. Second, a COS can only be convened when said 2/3 agree on the specific purpose. Third, said "specific purpose" must be stated in identical terms in the resolutions passed by all 2/3 of State Legislatures. Fourth, a COS cannot be convened for said stated purpose, then wander off to pass proposed amendments for something else. For example, a COS cannot be convened for the purpose of, say, proposing a Balanced Budget Amendment, then propose the repeal of the Second Amendment. That would fall outside its stated mandate and would be Prima Fascia (on its face) invalid. Fifth, whatever comes out of Convention MUST go to ALL 50 States (including those not in attendance) for ratification or rejection. In other words, the States get TWO bites at the apple. Sixth, State Delegates to the Convention are chosen by the attending State Legislatures, NOT Congress. Said Delegates can be replaced at will by their respective Legislatures if one or more Delegates 'go rogue' and defy their assigned mandate. This is especially valid today with modern communication. Delegates can literally be replaced overnight. In all likelihood, every State Delegation would have alternates, much as juries have alternates in case one or more jurors become(s) unable to serve or violate their sworn duty. Seventh, the Founders mandated that it would require 3/4 (38) States to ratify any amendments to the Constitution.
To my mind, the Founders set up an almost failsafe system for safeguarding their Original Intent while, simultaneously, allowing for necessary constitutional changes/upgrades as times and circumstances necessitated.
Some people become trapped in fear of a COS with the notion that nefarious forces like George Soros will somehow, magically, mysteriously take it over and impose some authoritarian, anti-constitutional/anti-freedom form of government against the Will of the People and States. Given all the safeguards put in place by the Founders -- REALLY?!
Again, it would only take 13 States to reject any inappropriate and anti-freedom amendments.
Also, in 2015, a mock COS was held in, I think, Virginia or South Carolina to work out the format, procedures, and protocols in the event a COS is convened. Everything is in place.
Lastly, I have been working on a series of proposed amendments in the event we achieve a COS. I have continually revised and refined them to their current form and format over the last ten years (I have a couple of recent changes to make them even better). If you are interested, I can forward them to you for your perusal. I think you would like them.
I hope this answers some or all of your concerns.
Oren
You have answered my objections with your explanation, I will back the Convention of States when it happens.
I would like to see the list of grievances and proposed amendments.
