The fakest of fake news.

We have seen the stock market drop radically over the last two or three days.  Supposedly, it is due to Coronavirus and its impact on the global economy, primarily in China.  Sure, that has had an impact, I'll give you that.  BUT, I maintain that there is a much more serious "issue" scaring the market -- BERNIE SANDERS!

First, let's take a realistic look at the Coronavirus.  The Coronavirus (CV-19) is one of roughly 20 or more viruses in the same family.  It is essentially the flu.  NINETY EIGHT PERCENT of those infected recover.  It's kill rate is TWO PERCENT!  That 2% are almost all the very old and/or infirm.  The good, old-fashioned "flu" has a kill rate of about 5%. Coronavirus is LESS deadly than the flu.  

So, why all the hype and fear?

The media loves death, despair, and fear.  "If it bleeds, it leads" is their bread and butter.  It's that simple.  Well, almost.

I believe there is a much bigger reason the market is scared -- BERNIE!  Bernie is on a roll.  He has won three primaries in a row and his support is growing.  He has promised all manner of impossible Leftist dreams, among them gutting the market and free enterprise.  Even the Democrat Leadership is scared to death of Bernie and what his nomination would mean for the Party, all the way down to dog catcher.  Yet, there seems to be nothing they can do to stop him.

To be sure, ALL the Democrat candidates are Socialists.  ALL the Democrat candidates would pretty much do what Bernie proposes.  They just don't say it out loud.  They are just trying to sneak it in the back door with platitudinous promises.

But, the market is listening -- CLOSELY!  The market is terrified at the prospect of a President Bernie and the possibility of a Left-Wing Democrat Congress.

IF (and it's a huge "if") Bernie does well in Saturday's primary, I believe there is a very real possibility of another market nose-dive.  If that happens, my theory will be confirmed.

The bottom line is that this fake scare over the Coronavirus is just a distraction from the real "Pandemic" waiting in the wings -- BERNIE.  The media is giggling the shiny keys in front of the public, "Watch the shiny keys.  Pay no attention to that other thing."

I can't sleep.  I need your take on something.  Perhaps I am over-processing.  If so, I need to know how and why.

The prospect of a Bolshevik Bernie presidency is scary enough on the domestic front.  He, has made it abundantly clear what he would do as president, especially if he had a like-minded Congress at his back.

But, that's only the half of it, the half everyone is talking about while simultaneously ignoring the elephant in the room, national security, foreign policy, and the military.  Hold that thought.

America has been under almost constant threat from her founding.  Foreign powers clearly understood the threat this "freedom thing" was for their continued, absolute power.  To date, we have successfully staved off said threats.

But, what if we had an openly Socialist president and Congress?  What would that portend for our freedom-loving allies AND ourselves?  If we and/or our allies were attacked, would Bernie even respond?  Whose side would he be on?

First, let me tell you a story.  

In his waning years, my father became an avowed Socialist ideologue.  He pretty much believed everything Bernie believes which is what scares me about Bernie.  One day, we were, as usual, discussing politics.  Dad said something that really frightened me and opened my eyes about the Left, especially the radical Left.  He said, "If I was president and was told that Russia had launched her missiles, I wouldn't respond.  Better for America to die than for the rest of the world to die."  I was so shocked that words actually failed me.  That is one of those statements that just leaves you flat-footed and without a response.

Back to Bernie.  He has made it crystal clear that he has no use for Israel, mutual-defense treaties, or trade deals -- NONE!  I really fear that, if Bernie was president, he would disavow our support for Israel and other allies.  I truly fear that his open disdain for Israel and other freedom-loving nations would encourage authoritarian, anti-freedom nations to attack whenever and wherever they liked.  I truly fear that, if President Bernie was told we (or others) were under attack, he would refuse to respond.  In his world, if Communism defeats freedom, that is a good thing.

In the South Carolina debate two nights ago, Bernie extolled the virtues of Socialism and named off every authoritarian, Socialist regime he could think of.  NO ONE on the stage called him on it, at least not with any vigor.  I think Mayor Pete mentioned it, but only in passing.  Meanwhile, Bernie constantly berates America as a mean, racist, greedy, imperialist country that must be completely remade in the Socialist image.  So, again, whose side is Bernie really on?  

I truly fear that a President Bernie would issue standing orders to the military to not respond if attacked, but only take minimal defensive action.  He has already said he would gut the military and leave America essentially defenseless, just as we were on December 7, 1941 when the Army was dragging telephone poles around on hay wagons, pretending they were cannon.  After December 7, we had to rebuild from scratch.  Well, times have changed.  War has changed.  We would be toast. 

I don't know that Bernie would even care.  He is in the final years of his life.  He would have accomplished everything his ideology calls for.  In such a scenario, I think he would sit in the Presidential Bunker -- and smile.  

But, for now, we will squabble over this or that domestic issue and whether or not we can afford it and who would pay for it.  Yeah, RIGHT!  That's a good idea!  And, the Bernie Bros will salivate over the prospect of everything they ever thought they might remotely want being free.  Well, death comes "free".  

If the above ever came to pass, I truly believe we would be SCREWED!

For one thing, I seriously doubt that Bernie would ever become President especially with AOC as VP. People would not stand for it. Our main threat right now is Bloomberg, especially if he takes Hillary as VP. The women would vote because Hillary is running just like the last time.

I remember several ladies saying they knew that Hillary was bad for the US but voted for her anyway because she was a woman and the time for a woman to be president was now. That is probably the cross section of American Voters average political intelligence. I'm glad I'm old and won't have to put up with it for much longer 30 years tops I hope.

Our main problem as I see it is the same one we had in 2018. The Conservatives are so full of themselves believing that they can't lose, there is a definite possibility we will. If everyone who has been going to the Rallies go to the polls we will have a fighting chance to overcome the expected forms of Voter Fraud the Democrats will throw at us.

Remember even 4 more for Trump will not settle the problems since a Liberal combined with a Liberal Congress can reverse Trump as fast as he reversed Obama and probably faster since Congress would not be fighting the Liberal. It scares the crap out of me when I see all the hubris on social media, posturing like we will not fail to give Trump another four. I foresee rampant voter fraud, with illegals voting,graveyard votes,rigged voting machines, "lost votes", bundling, motor voter registrations, 'Lost' military votes, and the 200,000,000 more registered voters than there are people in the US. Add to that number the 48% of people who didn't bother to vote, and you have a perfect storm unless we can energize people to go and vote against the Democrats.

Right now they are using the market downturn from Corona Virus fears to skew the chances for Trump to be reelected by taking the economy boom away from him. Has anyone actually looked at the market to see if the downturn wasn't just the Liberal Billionaires taking profits to make it fall? I expect them to really re-double their efforts stripping money from the market close to November to scare the crap out of people and make it look like Trump's economic plan has failed.

Getting back to Bloomberg, and what he said about spending 100 million to win the 21 seats so Pelosi could control Trump. He has indicated he will spend Billions to buy/win the Presidency. Our best chance to fend him off if he wins, is to be able to get enough voters to eliminate every Democrat running for any office come November, and replace them with a conservative Republican,Libertarian,or Independent as long as they are vetted a Conservative and a Constitutionalist.

I share your concerns except for the Corona Virus thing.  With Summer on the way, viruses like the flu disappear.  Like other faux "pandemics", it will fade into history and be old news by election time.  The market and economy will recover and we will be in a good position on that front.

Republicans who are deserting the ship when they are needed most. Will it flip Congress to the Dark Side er Democrats? 

The fact these fools are leaving right when we need names that can get re-elected seems mighty suspicious. Were they never Trumpers? We stand a better than average chance of losing control of Congress with them leaving. This stinks of manipulation and deliberate ceding of control. I wonder who if anyone got to them? This will make our job much harder than it should be. Even when Trump wins, he will be able to do little if there is a unified Democratic Congress arrayed against him. That is another reason why we must go all out to get people to vote against the Democrats, or give up and live in an oppressive Workers Paradise.

Perhaps I am being overly optimistic, but I don't see a repeat of the 2018 election cycle where the Dems took the House.  People are just doing too well economically and are just too pissed at the MSM and the Dems.  It may sometimes appear that the radical Left is gaining strength, but they're not.  This is fake news, propagated by the MSM for their own political agenda.  I believe the VAST majority of both Independents and Democrats will vote for Trump and against Democrats all the way down the ballot, including dog catcher.

As for those RINOs leaving Congress -- good riddance.  This may well be a blessing in disguise.  Many, many true conservatives are running to replace them.  Just because a GOP incumbent is not on the ballot does NOT mean a Democrat will automatically win.  As stupid as voters sometimes are, they're not THAT stupid.

That said, yes, I swing back and forth between optimistic and pessimistic.  I can't help it.  It's just a reflection of the current political state.  As Rush pointed out, we are in a cold civil war for the future of the country.

I feel the same Oren. The list of Repubs leaving seems to be heavy with RINO`S for sure. Some I think have skeletons in their closets and want out before the big reveal . That is my optimistic view of it..
