Is anyone else upset about the sad state of affairs for Native Americans who are subject to federally run health care? It is unacceptable that these people die at a higher rate than other Americans: suicide, 70% higher; alcoholism, 550% higher, diabetes, 190% higher. These people seem not to have a voice and simply suffer in the shadows. Let's be their voice! Please write your congressman and senator and ask that they fund and fix the Indian Health Service before they mess with us.

I worked a lot with the tribes in WA in my telecom days and the major issue is that they have been wards of the government for over a century. The sad part of this is that what became the department of Indian Affairs took a proud group of people that would have integrated well into our society in the 1800's and death marched them to a welfare system. The crazy part is that now they are getting back in an interesting way.... Casino's.... Well, that is another subject.
