Congressman Brian Baird 11-9-09
U.S. House of Representatives
2443 Rayburn House Office Building
Washington, DC 20515
Congressman,
I would like to take a moment of your time to express my concern with first, government’s clear disregard for the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights. Second, many elected representatives have taken an oath to uphold, protect, and defend the United States Constitution, but have failed to do so with apparent volition. Finally, I will express to you my expectations.
Article 1, Section 9, Line 8 of the United States Constitution states, “No title of nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no person holding any office of profit or trust under them, shall, without the consent of the congress, accept any present emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state.”
In September of 2009, the above article of the United States Constitution was blatantly violated by President Obama when he accepted the Chairmanship of the United Nations Security Council, then presided over the 6,191st summit in New York. Per article 1, section 9 (above) this is clearly illegal placing President Obama’s allegiance to the United States as well as his position of President in question. Without consent of congress, the President’s actions’ regarding this matter clearly defiles our constitution, and is a clear conflict of interest.
On the surface it appears nothing has been done to address this constitutional violation by the President. Do you have any intention of responding to this blatant and illegal action by the President? Congressman, do you intend to seek consequences for the President’s violation of his oath to office?
Congressman Baird, I expect you to abide by your oath of office to uphold, protect, and defend the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights, regardless of the conduct of others. I expect your loyalty to the Constitution, this great Republic, and your constituents, not to any party or person with in government, most of which are arguably corrupt. I expect you to immediately take appropriate action as it directly relates to this constitutional violation, simply doing nothing is not what reasonable Americans would deem appropriate action. I expect integrity from my congressman.
As your constituent, I expect to hear from you addressing these issues. If I’m incorrect or misinformed please advise.
Sincerely,
Merrill Berger
