Since its release three months ago, "Shocked by the Bible: The Most Astonishing Facts You've Never Been Told" by Joe Kovacs has been jolting many Americans awake, sending an electric pulse of scriptural truth across the land.

Among those who have been part of this awakening are some of the nation's radio broadcasters, from nationally syndicated hosts all the way down to Internet radio blogs.

Due to popular demand and the fact that many WND readers may have been too busy to tune in during the holidays, here's a collection of several shows that were recorded, with some comments from the hosts.

"I think it's a fun book to have," said talk-show host Pamela Furr at WVNN Radio in Huntsville, Ala. "I find it interesting how many things kind of get lost in the translation as it were over the years when it comes to the Bible."

Concerning the teachings of some of America's ministers, Furr noted, "You just take it as gospel truth because [you think to yourself,] 'Well he must know what he's talking about. He's a preacher!' I was taught this lesson as a young kid. It was actually my Bible teacher at the Christian school where I attended, and he said, 'Hey, don't take my word for it. Look it up yourself.' And I've never forgotten that, even as a kid, and I used to challenge Bible teachers and I used to challenge preachers all the time."

She added: "I would get into a lot of trouble over the years arguing with my teachers when I knew for a fact they were getting it wrong. They were teaching us things that were not in the Bible."

On BlogTalkRadio, Kovacs joined "The Key to Victory Show" to stun listeners with an hour's worth of biblical shockers.

"Wowsers! I don't even think I've ever heard this in church," said host "Cao" (pronounced Key), a military mom from Illinois. "I am floored! I am absolutely floored!"

Kovacs noted on her program, "The Bible is not that hard to figure out. It tells you in plain language what it's talking about."

In Denver, Colo., No. 1-rated talk-show host Peter Boyles from KHOW Radio invited Kovacs on to discuss the origins of Christmas traditions, going through the Bible accounts of Jesus' birth, as well as pagan customs that have become so popular every December. (Click here to listen to Boyles' program.)

"The book is terrific," said Boyles. "This guy is fabulous."

The interview included discussion of how many of America's colonial settlers in New England actually banned the celebration of Christmas, and how the Coca-Cola Company was responsible for popularizing the modern image of Santa Claus as a jolly, old fat man in a red and white suit.

"With jammed up lines, we have to have you back because so many people want to speak with you," he noted. "[Joe's] advice to everyone and it's absolutely the best is [if] you don't believe me, pick up the Bible, open it up and start to read."

Nationally syndicated host Rusty Humphries talked with Kovacs about a wide variety of biblical issues including Christmas traditions, the forbidden fruit, clean and unclean foods, the timeline of Jesus' death and resurrection and Jesus' appearances in the Old Testament.

"It's a great book," said Humphries. "Great Christmas present."

Kovacs was also interviewed by Pastor Dan Catlin of the Messiah's Branch Prophecy Hour.

Catlin, whose ministry is based in Kansas, said, "I am just really fascinated by this book. My comment to the producer of this program tonight was, 'Man, I should have [written] this book!'"

Joe Kovacs on "Shocked by the Bible"

"I really want everybody to read ['Shocked by the Bible']," Catlin added. "I'm praying that it'll send people back to actually read the Bible for themselves."

Kovacs stressed on the radio program, "You don't need to be a biblical scholar to read the Bible. It's not meant for scholars. It's meant for the ordinary person. God is trying to talk to everybody. It's our instruction book for our way of life."

The author, who is executive news editor for WND, is hoping readers make the new year a time for stand up for the actual truth of Scripture.

"Why not make 2009 the year to champion Bible truth?" says Kovacs. "It's time to put an end to ancient fables, misconceptions and distortions of God's Word. All people need to do is crack open their own Bibles and see the words on the pages. They'll be stunned."

In "Shocked by the Bible," Kovacs explains that if people just read for themselves without any preconceived notions, they'd quickly discover:

* "Three Wise Men" are never mentioned in the story of Jesus' birth, and no wise men at all are shown present at the manger scene the night Jesus was born. (They showed up later at a house when Jesus was a young child)

* Jesus did not come to make everyone understand His message, and personally said so

* The Bible never outright declares the day, month, year or even season Jesus was born.

* There's no mention of a Christmas tree or any tree in the gospels recording Jesus' birth. However, there is a custom mentioned in the Old Testament that shows people decorating trees with silver and gold. You might be astounded to find out what God says about such a practice.

* The Bible never says Jesus died on a Friday or rose from the grave Sunday morning

* Scripture does not say Noah's Ark rested on "Mount Ararat"

* Noah brought a lot more than just two of certain animals aboard the Ark

* The word "Easter" vanished from modern Bible translations

* God sought to kill Moses, shortly after telling him to lead the Israelites to freedom

* Jesus made personal appearances in the Old Testament

* The worst case of hemorrhoids in history is recorded

And these are merely the beginning of hundreds of facts that will stun even those who thought they had a strong knowledge of the Bible and history.

"If you've never been into the Bible, or even if you have, there's no need to fear," says Kovacs. "I make it quick, easy and fun for you to find out the juiciest, most interesting stuff that never seems to get mentioned in church. And I'm not talking about trivial facts and difficult names no one can pronounce."

"Shocked by the Bible" has become an instant smash since its release, twice hitting No. 1 in three Bible-related categories on Amazon.com with readers giving it high praise.

"Shocked by the Bible" skyrocketed to three No.1 spots on Amazon.com before and after its official release

It reached the No. 1 spot on the WND Best-Seller list several times. International demand has even led to a deal to have "Shocked" translated into the Korean language.

"If you think you really know the Bible, better think again," warns Fox News' Bill O'Reilly. "Your parents never told you this stuff was in the Bible," adds radio talker and author Melanie Morgan. WND founder Joseph Farah simply says, "'Shocked by the Bible' is nothing short of genius."

Kovacs has written countless reports in his 25-year news career. Many have focused on biblical issues such as chariot wheels said to be found in the Red Sea, searches for Noah's Ark and the Ark of the Covenant, and controversies over Christmas and Easter holidays as well as the Saturday-vs.-Sunday Sabbath.

He has received many awards for news excellence from the Associated Press and United Press International. He's run television, radio and print newsrooms in the U.S., as well as Budapest, Hungary. Kovacs is also regarded as one of the premier creative headline writers in the news business today.
