The Broken Fence:

  Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White House.

One is from Chicago, another is from Kentucky, and the third is from New Orleans.

 All three go with a White House official to examine the fence.

The New Orleans contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil.  "Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about $9,000. That's $4,000 for materials, $4,000 for my crew and $1,000 profit for me."

 The Kentucky contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $7,000. That's $3,000 for materials, $3,000 for my crew and $1,000 profit for me."

 The Chicago contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the White House official and whispers, "$27,000."

 The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other men!

How did you come up with such a high figure?”

 "The Chicago contractor whispers back, "$10,000 for me, $10,000 for you, and we hire the guy from Kentucky to fix the fence!

 "Done!" replies the government official.

Prominent Democratic pollster Mark Penn revealed shocking numbers tabulated from polling data that prove beyond any doubt Americans don't support sanctuary cities that shield illegal immigrants from deportation. (The Hill)
 Penn, who served as chief strategist for Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign, revealed that 84% of Americans favor turning undocumented immigrants over to federal agents.
 I asked them, ‘Do you think notifying ICE would in fact increase crime because it would inhibit people from reporting crimes or does it decrease crimes because it takes criminals off the street,’ and they overwhelming said ‘decrease,’ ” Penn told Hill.TV's “Rising.”
 Penn said the response was strikingly “out of sync” with what the biased media has fed the public about these matters."

A new poll shows immigration now trumps the economy and healthcare as the most important issue determining Americans' vote in the consequential midterm elections. (Reuters)
 Reuters/Ipsos data shows that immigration became a top concern for registered voters in the United States after the Trump administration in May announced its “zero tolerance” policy on illegal immigrants, saying they would be criminally charged.

 The policy became a political lightning rod in mid-June with disclosures that thousands of children were separated from their parents who were accused of crossing illegally into the country.
 The poll, conducted between June 28 and July 2, found:
15% of U.S. registered voters said immigration was the top issue determining how they will cast their ballot in November, while 14% said the economy was their biggest concern.
 26% of registered Republicans cited immigration as the most important issue likely to determine their vote, up 14 percentage points from a similar poll conducted at the beginning of June.

 With greater Republican enthusiasm over illegal immigration and a disappearing Democratic advantage in the generic ballot, the feared blue wave liberals had predicted for November may never materialize.

Ethics Complaint Filed Against maxine waters.

Maxine Waters just got some more bad news. 
 Mad maxine waters has been able to escape trouble for most of her career.

She has not had an ethics complaint filed against her for inciting violence.

 This could finally be the moment that she is held accountable for her questionable rhetoric and politics.
According to Town Hall:

*Judicial Watch filed an ethics complaint against Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) over her recent speech that encouraged the harassment of Trump administration officials in public.
 *In a hand-delivered letter to the chairman and co-chairman of the House Office of Congressional Ethics, Judicial Watch asked for an investigation into whether the California Democrat “violated House ethics rules by encouraging violence against Trump administration Cabinet members.”
*Last month, Waters told a crowd: “If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them! And you tell them that they are not welcome, anymore, anywhere.”
 The move comes after several Trump administration officials have been harassed in public, including White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, among others.

Great narrative from a Recon Marine . . .

      VIEW FROM THE SANDPIT:

How many of us have or could endure ONE WEEK of his experience???

 An interesting read from a Recon Marine in Afghanistan; an insider's view of what is really going on.  This Marine is articulate, has a flare for colorful language and descriptive prose regarding scorpions, chiggers and sand fleas:

 "It's freezing here  I'm sitting on hard cold dirt between rocks and shrubs at the base of the Hindu Kush Mountains, along the Dar'yoi Pamir River, watching a hole that leads to a tunnel that leads to a cave.  Stake-out, my friend, and no pizza delivery for thousands of miles.  I also glance at the area around my ass every ten to fifteen seconds to avoid another scorpion sting.  I've actually given up battling the chiggers and sand fleas, but the scorpions give a jolt like a cattle prod.  Hurts like a bastard.  The antidote tastes like transmission fluid, but God bless the Marine Corps for the five vials of it in my pack.
 The one truth the Taliban cannot escape is that, believe it or not, they are human beings, which means they have to eat food and drink water.  That requires couriers and that's where an old bounty hunter like me comes in handy.  I track the couriers, locate the tunnel entrances and storage facilities, type the info into the hand held, and shoot the coordinates up to the satellite link that tells the air commanders where to drop the hardware.  We bash some heads for a while, and then I track and record the new movement.  It's all about intelligence.  We haven't even brought in the snipers yet.  These scurrying rats have no idea what they're in for.  We are but days away from cutting off supply lines and allowing the eradication to begin.  But you know me; I'm a romantic.  I've said it before and I'll say it again:  This country blows, man.  It's not even a country.  There are no roads, there's no infrastructure, there's no government.
 This is an inhospitable, rock-pit shit-hole ruled by eleventh century warring tribes.  There are no jobs here like we know jobs.  Afghanistan offers only two ways for a man to support his family, join the opium trade or join the army.  That's it.  Those are your options.  Oh, I forgot, you can also live in a refugee camp and eat plum-sweetened, crushed beetle paste and squirt mud like a goose with stomach flu, if that's your idea of a party.  But the smell alone of those 'tent cities of the walking dead' is enough to hurl you into the poppy fields to cheerfully scrape bulbs for eighteen hours a day.
 I've been living with these Tajiks and Uzbeks, and Turkmen and even a couple of Pashtus, for over a month-and-a-half now and this much I can say for sure; these guys are Huns, actual, living Huns.  They LIVE to fight.  It's what they do.  It's ALL they do. They have no respect for anything; not for themselves, their families, or for each other.  They claw at one another as a way of life.  They play polo with dead calves and force their five-year-old sons into human cockfights to defend the family honor.  Just Huns; roaming packs of savage, heartless beasts who feed on each other's barbarism.  Cavemen with AK-47's. Then again, maybe I'm just a cranky young bastard.
 I'm freezing my ass off on this stupid hill because my lap warmer is running out of juice, and I can't recharge it until the sun comes up in a few hours.

 Oh yeah!  You like to write letters, right? Do me a favor, Bizarre.  Write a letter to CNN and tell Wolf and Anderson and that awful, sneering, pompous Aaron Brown to stop calling the Taliban "smart."  They are NOT smart.

 I suggest CNN invest in a dictionary because the word they are looking for is "cunning."  The Taliban are cunning, like jackals, hyenas, and wolverines.  They are sneaky and ruthless, and when confronted, they are cowardly.  They are hateful, malevolent parasites who create nothing and destroy everything else.
 Smart?  Bullshit!  Yeah, they're real smart  Most can't read, but they've spent their entire lives listening to Imams telling them about only one book and it's not a good  at all.

They consider hygiene and indoor plumbing to be products of the devil. They're still trying to figuring out how to work a Bic lighter  Talking to a Taliban warrior about improving his quality of life is like trying to teach an ape how to hold a pen.  Eventually he just gets frustrated and sticks you in the eye with it.  

 Okay, enough.  Snuffle will be up soon, so I have to get back to my hole.  Covering my tracks in the snow takes a lot of practice, but I'm good at it.
 Please, my fellow Americans, to turn off the TV sets and move on with your lives.  The BIASED story line you are getting from CNN and other news agencies is utter bullshit and designed not to deliver truth but rather to keep you glued to the screen so you will watch the next commercial.

 We've got this one under control. 

 CNN, the worst thing you guys can do right now is sit around analyzing what we're doing over here.  You have no idea what we're doing, and you really don't want to know.

elizabeth warren Just Lied About Why Kids at the Border Are Being Given DNA Tests.

During a campaign style rally in Montana Thursday night, President Trump went after Massachusetts Senator elizabeth warren and challenged her to a DNA test. "We will say, ‘I will give $1 million to your favorite charity paid for by Trump if you take the test and it shows you’re an Indian,'" Trump said to roaring applause. "Let's see what she does, right? I have a feeling she will say no. But we will hold that for the debates." President Trump

 warren, who is a likely 2020 presidential challenger, fired back on Twitter. 

"Hey, Donald Trump, While you obsess over my genes, your Admin is conducting DNA tests on little kids because you ripped them from their mamas & you are too incompetent to reunite them in time to meet a court order. Maybe you should focus on fixing the lives you're destroying." elizabeth warren

 Not surprisingly, her characterization about why children at the border are receiving DNA tests is false. Federal immigration authorities are conducting DNA tests because it's the only way to tell if adults traveling with children are actually parents. Much of the time, adults are strangers paired to unaccompanied children by smugglers. 

From previous reporting on the issue: 

 "You can never really verify who the parents really are," former Border Patrol and Customs Special Agent Jason Piccolo said during an interview with Townhall. "Especially in light of adult males showing up with kids."

 Piccolo explained how adults and children are given fake documents, including birth certificates to “prove” they are “related."

 Human smuggling from Central America to the United States is a billion dollar industry. Little girls are given birth control by their parents before the journey, knowing they'll likely be sexually assaulted along the way. 

 "Without doing some kind of in-depth interview or interrogation or some kind of biometrics [DNA] there's no way you can tell if the kids are actually family!" he said.

 Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley warned about smugglers taking advantage of lax U.S. immigration laws back in 2016.

 “A recent Department of Homeland Security (DHS) report confirmed that human smuggling rings are exploiting children in order to prevent the detention of the undocumented aliens they’re smuggling into the United States. 

 They are pairing children with unrelated adults, knowing adults who enter the United States with children won’t be detained,” Grassley said.

 “At least one Honduran interviewed by DHS officials reported that children are kidnapped or adopted then smuggled with their unrelated adult “family member” to the United States. This smuggling practice has bolstered an underground market for counterfeit birth certificates according to the report, which was prepared by the DHS Human Smuggling Cell. Once in the U.S., these children are vulnerable to labor or sex trafficking,” he continued.

Protesters Shut Down Major Chicago Highway; Mayor Emanuel Says Go For It, Comrades.

Today, a massive movement of “anti-violence” protesters blocked traffic across a major Chicago highway in an effort to shutdown the road and call for "commonsense" gun laws.

 Mayor Rahm Emanuel had initially disapproved, then approved of the group’s plan to march on the Dan Ryan Highway, but Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner claims today that the group moved beyond what it was permitted to do. -- The march is led by Rev. Michael Pfleger, an Illinois Roman Catholic priest who advocates liberation theology, and the left-wing Rev. Jesse Jackson. Protesters shouted “Shut it down!” as they ventured onto the roadway earlier this morning.

 Just yesterday, Mayor Emmanuel said the protesters “should be allowed (on the Dan Ryan), yes, because they’re going to be talking about anti-violence. And I think there’s a proper way to raise that awareness. I don’t think there should ever have been a doubt about that effort.”

 Today, Gov. Rauner says that the situation escalated from the original agreement and the protesters “chose instead to cause chaos.”

Gov. Rauner also tweeted he disappointed in the Mayor and called upon him “take swift and decisive action to put an end to” the protest.  "This is unacceptable. We had clear parameters that allowed the protestors to be heard while respecting law and order. Instead, they chose instead to cause chaos. I’m disappointed in the Mayor. There was an agreement in place. I am calling on the Mayor to take swift and decisive action to put an end to this kind of chaos. I will work with him in good faith and urge him to do his job so that the people of Chicago feel safe."

 To that extent Rev. Jackson said this week that, “Non-violent demonstration is sometimes the only way to get the attention that will help change things…I’m perfectly willing to be arrested to bring attention to this crisis. … Stopping traffic is less damaging than the shooting and the killing and the jailing.”

 Mayor Emanuel’s spokesperson had previously said that the protest will actually backfire on the marchers. “The very thing that they’re trying to accomplish — stop violence and stop shootings — has the potential to actually escalate because we’re pulling police officers out of the neighborhoods where we need them in order to escort the protesters down the expressway.” 

 The protest is ongoing though reports say the entirety of the highway is not closed.
