Just a thought, could this be a ploy to retain the sitting speaker?
Add a woman to the mix?
Dear USA kat...
You imagine well I suppose for I am in no way an uber polymath by any sense of the word, yet I try calm introspection to consider all possibilities added to that a strong cup of tea and well aware that I customarily run against the grain.
So, in keeping with the topic, I offer the opinion that Dan Webster who aimed at the spot before could be added to the list, yet under the political situation as it stands right now, Cheffetz appears to be the really sharp thorn in McCarthy's side... besides his gaff comments with Chefffetz gaining much media coverage... and with that coverage he is stepping on what was a traditional move from House Majority Leader to Speaker.... something voters may take notice of that the same old right of passage doesn't shine any more and new steps need to be made taken to move the process further along... with prior promises made to dispel the Administrations relentless overreach and to witness bupkis being done. Of course there appears to be the position that the veto powers of the POTUS will wipe away anything that comes across his desk offered up by Republicans and to seem to always be falling short of votes needed to override the veto pen.
Now, if the house really wanted to take shaking up DC...offer up Lynn Jenkins, Diane Black or Vicky Hartzler, fine conservative women who could well as speaker.
Yet as I said earlier, I do run against the grain and am not foolish enough to think that I would have a dent in the thinking of the powers that be.... YET, but it should would knock DC for a loop to have a conservative woman take the helm as speaker and would do a much better job than Pelosi ever did.
But I digress, and will have to see in the days ahead how this all pans out.... I do hold a hope as distant as it may be that Weber at least make an attempt, raise his hand, coughs really loud, something that may at least shine even the littlest light his way an offers yet one more voice to the position of speaker.
.
It sounds to me that our side is starting to push through....Keep on truckin..
According to a member on another site, this could be a very serious problem. There will not be any speaker which will allow the Democrats to run wild. Seems that McCarthy needed only 1 vote from the Demos to win, and Pelosi was promised a special opportunity in the future. Now, it appears that there will need to be several democrats needed to get a speaker and that opens up the house to the Dems. This person appears to know lots about the GOP and has been involved in party politics for a while. Though, as he says, no one, not even he, can even understand what this country is facing now. Everything is out of whack.
So is he right? Wondering.
I understand your concern Virgina if the other members comment is correct and as I read as written.... IF there was NO speaker then yes.... a major problem would be at hand. Yet, we have not lost a speaker where a catastrophic event took the speaker out. The existing speaker is still to be speaker until another is selected so as I see it, we have not lost a body.... we are to see the players change. IMHO and may I be blunt, the dems and the minion media has this event as the end of the world... seen as a political opportunity in what they see and have others report that chaos and all the banshees from hell is now upon the GOP. Typical drama under the rotunda if ever there was.
I find the timing of the changing of the so called "guard" a rather askew and there are many theories as to why now.... but it is what it is and actions are now in place to uncover a speaker to knit a stronger bond to the party for the needs of tomorrow. I am sure my comment may sound lofty, but think what what lies a head for the GOP and the condition this country is in right now. If ever the time may be needed no matter how inconvenient to get our participial and leadership s#*t together, hard core and ready to hit the ground running is possibility NOW. S00000, to answer the question "is her right?" you betcha.Everything is so out of whack that it may take a whacky moment, as we have now, to get it back on track... an off form of Unified field theory of sorts.
I speak only for my self, yet I do shake my head to the actions of those we voted into office. I have become rather harsh in my political conversations of late as well as a more critical vetting process in those asking to serve my Local, State and upcoming Presidential offices. A correction in how we view those we hire to represent our local, state, and national interests may be in order, seeing what has occurred not only these past 6 plus years, for for the last 40-50 years... I think paying attention more is but a start... yet the clock keeps tickin
