Businessman Donald Trump is not the type of person to sit back and take abuse from the mainstream media.

Donald Trump deports Jorge Ramos from a press conference.

In the past Trump blocked Des Moines Register reporters from an earlier event in Iowa. In September he kicked open borders reporter Jorge Ramos out of a press conference. The Donald’s attacks on The Politico are endless.

Today the Republican front runner warned the Wall Street Journal to call off its dogs or he “will unleash big time” on the paper.

Trump lays out plan to reform Veterans Affairs

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Saturday announced a plan to reform the veterans health system at a rally in Norfolk, Va.

 

“We’re going to take care of those wounded warriors and we’re going to take care of our vets better than anybody."he said, speaking in front the USS Wisconsin — the same spot where now-Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) was formally introduced as Mitt Romney’s running mate in 2012.

 

 

Trump promised that in his administration, veterans would receive better healthcare more quickly.

 

"The plan will ensure our veterans get the care they need, wherever and whenever they need it," he said.

 

Trump said that he would institute policies that would see Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities competing with non-VA hospitals. He said that under his plan, any veteran could go to a doctor that accepts Medicare and receive care.

 

In a winding indictment of the VA system, he targeted Veterans Health Administration hospitals that came under fire in the last year for keeping long wait lists of veterans who needed crucial care.

 

“Think about me going to my doctor’s office and waiting four days,” he said. "If I wait 15 minutes, I’m angry as hell at the doctor.”

 

Trump said the VA system needed to be maintained but reformed.

 

“I don’t want to get rid of it, I want to supplement it," he said.

 

He promised to fire "the corrupt and incompetent VA executives who let our veterans down" and update the VA's policies to meet the needs of the younger veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.

 

"The fact that many VA hospitals don’t permanently staff OB-GYN doctors shows an utter lack of respect for the growing number of female veterans,” Trump said, pledging that under his leadership, every VA hospital would have doctors specializing in women's health.

 

Veterans hospitals would, he added, put in place technology that connect patients to doctors and allows them to manage their care.

 

Trump's campaign said Saturday in a plan posted on his website that he would also focus his efforts on building mental health programs for veterans. 

 

He promised to increase the funding available "for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury and suicide prevention services."

 

"More funding will also support research on best practices and state of the art treatments to keep our veterans alive, healthy and whole," the campaign said. 

 

"With these steps, the Trump plan will help the veteran community put the unnecessary stigma surrounding mental health behind them and instead encourage acceptance and treatment in our greater society."

 

Trump, who appeared to break from his extemporaneous remarks to consult a document while speaking about his policy proposal, said he would also invest in policies to help ease the transition from active duty to civilian life.

 

He pledged to institute programs to help veterans start businesses and find employment, including by incentivizing companies to hire veterans. 

 

His administration would also partner with non-profit organizations working on veterans issues, he said.

Trump: CNBC's Harwood a ‘fool’ and a ‘dope’

GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Saturday labeled the moderator of Wednesday’s much-maligned CNBC Republican presidential debate a “dope” and a “fool.”

 

"By the way — this guy John Harwood, was he a dope?” Trump asked in the middle of comments about the debates.

Harwood’s name was met with boos from the crowd in Norfolk, Va., as Trump continued slamming him.

 

"What a dope. What a fool,” he said.

 

"And look what it cost NBC. It hurt their reputation. It’s a shame, actually. But he was really a jerk.”

 

But Trump also said he liked the debates because it gave candidates a chance to show they could take hard questions.

 

“I don’t want the Republicans to look weak, like we’re afraid to take questions,” he said.

 

CNBC’s primary debate was criticized by many on the right, who thought the questions asked of the candidates were inappropriate. 

 

The Republican National Committee on Friday suspended its partnership with NBC News for a debate in February because of the concerns.

 

Trump’s discussion of the debate was an aside during a speech where he laid out his plan to reform the Department of Veterans Affairs.

 

Speaking in front of the USS Wisconsin, he pledged: "The plan will ensure our veterans get the care they need, wherever and whenever they need it.”

Carson suggests not running debates on TV: report

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson has suggested stripping television networks of the right to carry upcoming GOP presidential debates. 

The retired neurosurgeon instead wants to see the primary debates streamed over the Internet — possibly on YouTube or Facebook — with more time spent on candidates’ statements and less on moderators’ questions, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

The Saturday report said Carson’s campaign manager, Barry Bennett, will present this proposal when representatives of several GOP presidential candidates hold a meeting Sunday evening.

He has already discussed the plan with the Republican National Committee (RNC) and other campaigns. No RNC officials plan to attend the Sunday meeting. 

The proposal calls for all major GOP candidates to have five minutes at minimum for opening and closing statements. 

“We think that the opening and closing statement issue is a good way to get around the inequities, real or perceived, by every candidate,” Carson spokesman Doug Watts told the Wall Street Journal. 

Carson’s campaign is also calling for the number of televised GOP debates to be reduced. The RNC has eight more debates scheduled. 

“[The debates] really do take a lot of time away from the campaign and they take a lot of financial resources for us to be able to work on them,” Watts said. 

The next scheduled GOP debate is Nov. 10 in Milwaukee. It will be broadcast on Fox Business Network.
